With the competing timezones we have even had their team up at 4am a couple of times when required for large launches or projects. They’re highly responsive on Slack, often replying quickly to questions, updates, or technical discussions, which has made day-to-day collaboration smooth and efficient. Their project timelines are clearly communicated upfront and met, even when our priorities have shifted or expanded mid-project. For example, we’re now working on a functionality which will give us the ability to have period reports, rather than single-job ones for postage and mail efficiencies. Identifying the categories for mailing, as well as how postage is applied—it differs based on the weight of a piece, discounts and so on—involved collecting figures from three or four different records, rather than a single one for all different pieces. On the other hand, we run agile software development, which means scrum. When we’re in an active iteration, we do daily stand-ups. All our team is part of it, and they keep us involved. We can make judgment calls and on-the-fly decisions if they need us to. Also, we have a great working relationship with their scrum masters, just in case something comes up during the iterations.
