Custom Portal Development on WordPress
Steelcase, the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer, is renowned for creating great experiences by offering a range of furniture, architecture, and technology products since beginning its operations almost a century ago.
Having thousands of employees working for it along with a huge number of vendors and dealers, Steelcase wanted to develop a platform to bring all these people together, so they could interact meaningfully, ask questions and find solutions.
Codup build their company portal on WordPress, customized it to their requirements and needs, and integrated it with the OneLogin App for each and secure authentication of its users.

Online Notarization Platform Development
We developed an online Notarization platform called Cyberize It for our client using the following tech stack: MERN, Zoom, Adobe Sign, Stripe, AWS, Ubuntu, Ngnix. CyberizeIt is a platform that connects customers with notaries and get their papers signed and sealed through a fully digital process. We integrated the platform with several third-party tools like Zoom, Adobe Sign and Stripe to build the functionality required.

API Integration and Custom App Development
Codup created two custom apps for Dyson - one for Freshdesk and the other for Freshsales CRM. The Freshsales app allowed Dyson to send an SMS message via Tweak Media API containing a CSAT survey whenever a contact was created in the CRM. The Freshdesk app, on the other hand, allowed Dyson to create a ticket automatically whenever a CSAT survey was sent to a customer.

Custom app for ITSM service
Codup built a custom app for the Freshservice platform which allowed admins to calculate the response and resolution time of the agents. The Freshservice integration allowed admins to create custom rules like response and resolution time for different agent groups and for different priority levels.
To gauge and analyze the performance, we also enabled the functionality in which response and resolution time was calculated and a ticket was tagged in case of violation of the set rules.
The stack of technologies we used for this project was Node.JS, jQuery, Ajax, HTML, and CSS.

Custom Shopify App Development
One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization, aims to give something that our environment needs the most right now: trees. Using donations from people across the world, One Tree Planted is on a mission to plant trees across continents.
To make it easy for them to manage the overwhelming number of donations they were receiving from people across the world, Codup built an App for them, which integrated their Shopify website with Freshsales CRM. Our custom App enabled One Tree Planted to fetch information like the amount of donations and profile information about each of their donators right onto the CRM

B2B eCommerce Development
Ins’Tent is a B2B manufacturer of customized promotional tents, printed flags, custom furniture, and trade show displays. The client was facing challenges in order flows, handling custom & bulk orders, getting designs approved by their customers, and Payment Gateways.
We delivered a flexible B2B eCommerce solution by Developing customized checkout and smart payment gateways, advanced design portal to work through design creatives, splitting orders functionality and much more.
Along with custom B2B development, we also performed API integrations of Quick-Books and UPS shipping.

eCommerce Development
Vaxxen Labs is a renowned online store of health supplements and body nutrition products. The client wanted to introduce a reward program for its customers to boost Sale and product engagement.
We developed and deployed a custom reward points solution to their WooCommerce store to turn their idea into enhanced functionality. Along with plugin integration, we also worked on UI, UX to enrich user shopping journey.

B2B eCommerce Product Catalog Development
White Knight is a USA based manufacturer of lug nuts & wheel accessories. The client was facing challenges in managing the catalogs for distributors and wholesalers.
We reduced their data entry complexities by developing easy to manage yet intuitive catalogs templates, filterable and searchable for their B2B clients, yet easy for them to manage on the back end using bulk upload and edit tools using spreadsheets.
Moreover, we also developed an advanced search-bar to assist site visitors with their desired queries about products and categories.

Custom WooCommerce Plugin Development
We developed a custom WooCommerce plugin for FOGA that enabled a “customizable-bundle-subscription” feature on our client’s eCommerce store. With this new functionality, our client’s customers could build their own bundles by choosing their favorite products and then subscribing to them. Features like Edit Subscriptions, Edit Bundle Box, and Rush or Delay Delivery further improved the customer experience.

Affiliate Marketing Platform Development
PayDotCom was a custom software development project for one of our valuable clients. Our client –an affiliate marketer – wanted to build an affiliate marketing platform with features that would make the platform stand out from the rest.
We built the platform from scratch using PHP and built all the powerful features our client wanted. The result was a project we were proud of and a platform that received raving reviews on its launch.

Custom Web App Development
We developed a custom Freshdesk app for Compassion 4 Paws. This full-page app comprised of 3 forms that agents can use to take information from prospects who call in for a quote. We also integrated their Freshdesk solution with Airtable, which they use to record form data submitted by prospects on the website.

API Integration and WordPress Development
Meal Plan Map is a meal & fitness planning tool which helps to achieve desired fitness goals. The client wanted to limit services to its members only and integrate meal & fitness data from a white-labeled platform to an existing site.
We delivered this solution by writing an integration between the site and the white labeled platform.

Custom WooCommerce Plugin Development
We partnered with Boxy Studio to develop a top-rated and best-selling WordPress Booking Plugin. Booked Pro WordPress plugin was getting outdated and definitely needed an update. Our client partnered with us to develop the plugin from scratch and create an easy-to-maintain, flexible, and optimized WordPress plugin that would give this plugin a competitive edge.

Custom WordPress Development
Akools is a restaurant directory website for people in Saudi Arabia, allowing natives to search for restaurants in their neighborhoods using different search parameters. Codup set up the directory website on WordPress that included a restaurant search page with an advanced filtering mechanism, a restaurant blogging system to allow posts to be associated with a restaurant, and a restaurant listing page. We also made the site multi-lingual so both users and admin can use it in Arabic and English.

Custom Shopify App
Codup built a custom Shopify app for Quadro, a kids’ toy company that manufactures and sells giant construction kits. The Shopify app was built to optimize the packing processes in the company allowing Quadro to save time and money. We wrote complex algorithms with control flow statements to determine the best packing box for a certain order based on its dimensions. The goal was to enable the client to use a box large enough and not waste any unused box space, potentially saving on shipping costs.

Venue Town
Venue Town offers you to find and book the perfect venue or planner for any corporate and private events including wedding parties, meetings, dinners, lunch and much more. We developed the platform end to end from conception to deployment.
This was delivered using headless WordPress and AngularJS using the newly released WordPress Rest API (At the time)
The site featured a fully functional listing and search capability for venues and planners that users could browse, shortlist and contact.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for a for-profit arm of the a national wildlife nonprofit. We sell native plants.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup?
We reached out to them for help with Shopify development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They looked through our requirements and assigned a senior Shopify theme developer. We are region-specific with the plants we sell, so everything is able to be filtered on the website by zip code. They modified the entire theme to check for a person’s zip code.
Codup also created a product recommendation quiz for us.
What is the team composition?
There was one main developer that I dealt with; I don’t know how many people are on the backend. There was also an owner and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Codup?
We found them through Shopify. You can request RFP’s and solutions through Shopify, and it goes out to a large number of companies.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $10,000 together.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from February–April 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Customers couldn’t add anything to their cart without Codup’s work, and we would see those effects in the lack of sales, but customers are able to get into the website and check out as needed. They’ve certainly met our expectations.
There has been some extension in the timeline due to Ramadan landing in April and us losing some time overlapping with the developers. Everything moved very well up to that point. They did a good job.
How did Codup perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated over Slack.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We got good quality development from them. Being able to go back and forth with them to find bugs and fix them was great. They were able to work with our developers’ skill level to help wherever they needed to deploy and test everything.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their QA could improve, but I’m not sure. I’m finding issues because I know exactly what the site should be and what issues would be while they’re a third party that wouldn’t really know what to look for.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Having someone who understands the technology being built and can work with the developers is helpful. This way you won’t release something that ends up not working later on.

E-Commerce Dev for Promotional Products Company
“Codup is very communicative and honest when managing expectations.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of a promotional products company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We needed help with building two e-commerce platforms for one of our customers. One of these sites would provide them with solutions for their different locations and product distribution efforts. The other site would serve their internal staff, allowing them to order their own branded products, whether it be apparel or drinkware with their company’s logo.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, I provided Codup with some context regarding how our customer used their previous store, and I was in charge of the design work, but they developed both sites from scratch. For the B2B site, they also developed a budget management tool, which assigns the buyers a quarterly budget that needs to be refreshed after each quarter. This tool reflects the buyers’ amount of purchases and money spent without allowing them to purchase past their budget.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with about four different people from Codup, including Waqar (Product Manager) and 2–3 different developers. Initially, a sales representative also helped me get the scope organized very quickly.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
I’ve worked with Codup before. This is the third project we’ve worked on, so they’re my to-go development agency at this point.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent close to $8,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in December 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. Although we’re close to finishing the project, we’re still making some final adjustments.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our customer has told us that their new site is more user friendly and a lot better than their previous site. Thanks to Codup, we’ve made the purchase process for the final clients easier, and the site is esthetically more pleasing for them than before. I have nothing but great things to say about Codup’s work; they’ve been incredible.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
Codup is very communicative and honest when managing expectations. Still, they’ve exceeded those expectations at some of the milestones along the way. Overall, they’ve done a great job managing the project.
Waqar is very attentive and responsive, and the developers are simply great. In the beginning, we had a tight deadline. Although Codup completed most of their work before that deadline, we convinced our client to give us a couple more months for testing, taking a cautious approach before launching the site.
We communicate via email and WhatsApp. Although Waqar has been on top of everything, he let us have a WhatsApp group chat with the developers to contact them easily.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codup communicates very well. I’ve tried to work with other off-shore developers, but I was always hesitant about our collaboration because I lost some visibility into the projects. However, Codup has been available throughout the whole process.
Additionally, they work fast because they’re great at understanding what we try to do. They’re not afraid of asking questions to ensure they get our requirements right from the start.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Codup is very good, so I would only encourage them to continue improving their proactivity. Sometimes, I’ve come up with suggestions to find certain solutions, and although they’ve done that too, it would be great if they were the ones who came up with those solutions; that would definitely help their customers and improve their service.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have as much and as detailed information as possible before starting your project so that you can pass that information to the development team. Additionally, have weekly updates on the project’s milestones to prevent things from getting lost in translation. Many things are going on from both sides on these kinds of projects, so having weekly meetings is really helpful.

Software Development for Online Notary Service
"They were very accommodating and created opportunities for solutions to be made."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of Cyberize It, an online notarization platform. Clients can upload their documents, meet with a notary, and download a notarized electronic file using our tool.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We needed help in software development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
First, we brainstormed and researched with Codup.co’s team to find API vendors to house the different schematics needed for online notarization. After that, they proceeded with the actual development. We worked through wireframes, cause-effect graphing, user stories, formatting, and the final rollout.
Our software communicates with four other solutions, and it brings everything back to one system. It’s integrated with IDology, a tool that validates a user’s identity. In addition, our app is integrated with Zoom, which the client can use to meet with a notary public after passing IDology. The entire system is hosted on AWS.
What is the team composition?
I worked with eight teammates, including a project manager, website developers, and QA specialists.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
We put out an RFP, and Codup.co won our bidding process. We chose to work with them because they were up to the challenge.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $80,000–$90,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked from March 2021–January 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Codup.co went above and beyond to ensure they delivered based on our specifications. They handled issues and misunderstandings so that their deliverables met our standards. Their team did a great job in terms of customer service.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
Codup.co’s project management was organized. We utilized a tool that allowed us to monitor objectives, understand issues, and see our progress as a whole. They were very accommodating and created opportunities for solutions to be made. We collaborated through Asana and virtual meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codup.co was very responsive — we appreciated that since we worked virtually. They never made us wait. If a task was urgent, they took care of it regardless of the time or day.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes, their visuals weren’t cohesive and simple. They could’ve been more proactive with features as well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Understand the process, and think of all the ways it can break. Plan for the worst so you’re prepared for the best.

Website Dev & CRM Integration for Financial Management Co
“Codup worked with us to build our idea, and the result exceeded our expectations.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for a third-party money manager for financial advisors. We put together different financial portfolios, and financial advisors throughout the country can utilize those of their clients.
I’m the operations manager within the organization, so I work with different financial organizations to onboard them and give them access to our strategies, among a variety of other tasks.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We needed help with website development, but the real challenge was that we didn’t know exactly what we wanted yet. Our website was functional, but it didn’t have all the features we expected. Among those features, we were looking to improve our tracking and data collection more than anything, so we looked for something new in the marketplace and found Codup.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our former website was based on Salesforce, our CRM, but Codup built a completely new WordPress website from scratch. They’ve also helped us build different integrations so that we can pass data from our WordPress website to our CRM and use that data in a variety of different manners. Additionally, they’ve created integrations with our video hosting platform.
Since our industry is very compliant-heavy, we can’t show everything to the public, so we have to implement different log-in and sign-in credentials for our users. Codup has helped us with that part as well, making it very easy from the administration side to enable users.
Codup’s involvement has been mainly focused on development, especially on the backend. For the design, they used a WordPress theme, and we provided the content and pictures. They’re about to finalize the website development, and we will have a 30-day trial for QA to ensure everything works properly. After that, we intend to keep utilizing their services on an ad hoc basis when applicable.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with at least eight people from Codup. Ayaz (Project Manager) is my main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
I found Codup on Codeable. We started looking for website developers in September 2021, got some quotes and bids for our project, and talked to all the prospects. Codup’s relationship manager contacted me and took it from there.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent roughly $12,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around October 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have any quantifiable results to demonstrate the engagement’s success, but we’ve tracked the completion of the project’s milestones. Essentially, we test if everything works properly, and so far, our site has been working great.
Initially, we didn’t know what we wanted; we just had a general idea of what we needed. Codup worked with us to build our idea, and the result exceeded our expectations — I can’t say enough good things about their work.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
Codup has performed very well. We’ve gone a little bit over budget, but that’s probably on my end due to the different things that have popped up during the process. However, timewise, they’ve stayed on schedule.
Originally, I had the idea of getting my website ready by the end of 2021. However, some things came up, and around August 2021, Codup told me that the intended deadline wasn’t realistic. They estimated that the site could be ready by early February 2022. We still have a couple of weeks before that deadline, so we’re right on pace. They’ve helped us stay on schedule by insisting whenever we haven’t been responsive enough.
We mainly communicate via email, but when we’ve needed more in-depth conversations, we jump on a video call.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codup’s strength is their ability to make the complexity of web development understandable. I have very little knowledge of coding and development, so when I ask them about what they’re doing, they think about it and explain it to me in a way that I easily understand.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have any constructive feedback. The only thing I would ask Codup is to further explain how everything related to our site would work moving forward so that we can have autonomy and we don’t need to come to them with every little question.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Come with a concrete idea of what you’re looking for. We didn’t do that, which led us to spend a couple of weeks figuring out where to start. If you can come to them with a clear idea, you will knock it out of the park.

WordPress Website Migration for Marketing Consultancy
"Their team really tried to build everything themselves where they could."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I own a small marketing consultancy.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
One of my clients needed a new website. Though I’m very familiar with that process, my development skills were quite lacking. That is why I sought Codup.co’s help.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codup.co migrated my client’s existing website over to WordPress. They also made a few functional changes to the website, but the main issue that they were addressing was the huge time crunch. My client had set their expectations in terms of the timeline, so the team needed to be able to migrate the website in accordance with it.
What is the team composition?
I’m not sure how many people were assigned to the work because I talked to various members while we were laying out the initial pages. I did work with Zaheer (Project Coordinator) consistently once we moved into actual development.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
I have a lot of local connections, but I couldn’t find anyone who was willing to take on the work given time constraints. I eventually wound up on Codeup.co’s website where we arranged the contract and everything.
How much have you invested with them?
I invested around $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I first engaged Codup.co in July 2021, and the migration project was completed in November 2021. I still reach out to them whenever I need help with something.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Codup.co did a really good job of meeting the tight timeline. Even when I wasn’t able to give them what they needed in time, they made sure to follow up to keep us on track of the deadline. We did end up needing a two-week extension on the project, but that was through no fault of theirs. It was simply due to my client not providing their feedback in the time they were supposed to.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
I appreciated how, despite being in a different time zone, they made themselves available during my business hours. That would’ve been nighttime to them. On the other hand, I didn’t like how I was bounced around different people. It would’ve been better if they assigned a single point of contact for me. Then again, I was only there for the development and I’ve managed this type of project before, so I didn’t really need to rely on that as much.
We normally communicated via email, but we used Google Meet whenever we needed to discuss our feedback and share screens.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What really stood out about Codup.co was their eagerness to do custom work. Their equivalents here in the US are less inclined to do custom web development work, but their team really tried to build everything themselves where they could. This is possibly a testament to their technical knowledge and expertise.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Everything was moving so quickly, so I understand that the project wasn’t very ideal. One thing that could’ve improved the process, however, is if they laid out a timeline of what they expect to receive from their clients. There were instances where I received an email from them requesting that I provide feedback for a specific portion of the website within 24 hours. As a business owner, I can’t just open my day up for something like that.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Stay on top of the project, follow up on anything that you don’t understand, and keep in close contact with your developer. Scheduling calls will also definitely help, and doing video calls and screen-sharing will get you a lot farther than emails will.

E-Commerce Website Dev for Creative Agency
"They had an exceedingly good project management process."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I own RJ Design, and we offer photography, graphic design, and layout services. Sometimes, we also offer web development work.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
I had a longstanding client that had a unique set of criteria for their existing website. Our client offered their particular products from three different overseas suppliers. As a result, if our client had customers or distributors who wanted to purchase something from them, the products would come from one of the three suppliers. The challenge was to keep the aesthetics consistent across three different components — the front- and backend and the e-commerce aspect of WooCommerce.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codup.co built the front- and backend of our platform, and there was a portion where our system had boilerplate templates. The team ensured that our client’s system was automated, so depending on the product that was ordered, PDF files had to be auto-generated to each one of the people involved in the transaction.
The team authored several plugins that were designed to work in conjunction with WooCommerce. They also expanded their plugin offerings based on the requirements we had because they saw how the circumstances played out for some of our potential clients.
What is the team composition?
I worked with several people from Codup.co, including Asim (Co-Founder). We also collaborated with their developers, coders, their business manager, and more.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
I updated WordPress and added some plugins. While doing so, I chanced upon Codup.co’s ad banner on WordPress and once I clicked it, I saw what they could offer. In the end, we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $6,200.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from September–December 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were impressed that they quickly understood how all the different project components were going to play together. We didn’t launch the platform yet because we’re still in the beta testing stage and our project continues to evolve, so there are a lot of gray areas that have yet to be solved.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
They had an exceedingly good project management process. On a 10-point scale, I’d give them almost a perfect score. We used a workspace portal to ensure that all the files we needed as well as all of our communication were in one location. As a result, we didn’t have to scramble around trying to figure out if we had the right email address. Despite that, we occasionally used Google Meet, Zoom, email, and text messaging.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes the contact information they gave us was a little bit confusing. For example, when they gave us a certain contact, we weren’t really sure if we were talking to the right person. On top of that, we had cultural differences and language barriers.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The more you dig, the more likely you are to find your answer. In our case, we saw Codup.co through their banner and coincidentally found that they could help us with our project.

ntroduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing and project consultant for an e-commerce platform.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We needed to develop a new e-commerce website, so we initially built it in WooCommerce. We found that Codup.co had some plugins that we needed and realized we needed some customization to fit our needs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We contacted Codup.co to customize their plugin to meet our needs. We explained the process we wanted to add to them, and they gave us a cost and time estimate. They didn’t develop the website from scratch, but they completed it within a good time frame.
We have more projects planned with them for the future.
What is the team composition?
We had seven people in our team, including a project manager, developers, designers, and so on.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
We were searching for someone to service our website. We found what we wanted, but it was missing some functionality, and the timeframe was critical. We asked Codup.co if they could add the missing function to their plugin, and they agreed.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $1,500.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from April–July 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Delivery timeframe and cost were the two metrics we measured. First, they gave us an excellent timeframe. They delivered in one month, and then we requested testing on our platform, so it extended two weeks more. On the other hand, the cost was an excellent price for the market, and they didn’t ask for any additional money than the original estimate.
Additionally, they were very polite and organized.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was very organized; they were very professional. Their project manager would send what would happen in the meeting and all the steps in advance. If we had any issues at the meeting, he approached us to make sure everything was clear.
We communicated via email, Google Meet, Zoom, and phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They delivered what they promised.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There wasn’t anything they could improve. It was a wonderful experience.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You need to understand what you want and give them clear instructions. They’ll deliver precisely what you want. They’re highly professional; we recommend working with them.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the business development manager for Compassion 4 Paws. We provide in-home end-of-life care for pets.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We were using a new piece of software, and we wanted to have alternatives on how the software was made. As a result, we hired Codup to tweak the software and make it work in a way that fit how we ran the business.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we created a scope of work between Codup and us. They started working once we agreed upon the scope. After a month, they finished the project and started testing it. We needed to do a few more tweaks after that.
In terms of the software’s functionality, we changed the way we input information into it and the format of how its display looked. We also tweaked the way our agents used the initial screen set. Apart from that, the Codup team also completed two small projects for us.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a project manager, a development manager, and two people who helped on the development side. Overall, our team worked with 4–5 people.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
Codup built another app for the software we were using, and we found them through that. I talked to them about that app before I hired them. At that time, I didn’t plan on hiring them. However, when I realized that we needed to work on our software, I thought they were a good choice since they’d already done some work on the platform.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent just under $5,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement lasted from May–August 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It was much easier for us to use the software compared to before, and that was our main success metric. Overall, we saved 30% of our time inputting information into the software, thanks to the changes that Codup made.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
We had no problems with their project management. From our standpoint, it was a simple and clean process. As with any software project, changes happened along the way, and Codup accommodated them. They talked to us and made sure that we were aware of what the changes truly meant.
Overall, we worked easily with them. On top of that, everything was perfect in terms of budgets and deadlines. We used Freshdesk as a project management tool, and our teams communicated through email; they were highly responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It was easy for them to make changes.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could provide a bit more detail in the scoping phase of the engagement. Their team should look through the scope of work thoroughly before everyone agrees on it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Create a great scope of work and agree on it. On top of that, give Codup access to the things they need, and they’ll finish the tasks on time and within budget — they’re great at doing that.

E-Commerce Development for Digital Marketing Agency
"They clearly understand what we need as a deliverable, and they usually hit the mark."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I run a small digital marketing agency called Bear North Digital. We primarily do web development, SEO, and paid advertising.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
Sometimes we deal with higher demand, so we have to look for good subcontractors for certain projects. We need talented people who can align well with what our clients are looking for.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codup.co has done several projects for us, but the main deliverables have been B2B and B2C e-commerce websites. They use WooCommerce and WordPress.
The process starts with the review of the design file. Sometimes, they’re willing to make revisions to the file, but it’s usually pretty closed on the mark. Then, we move right into development and testing to make sure everything works. Finally, we launch.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with 4–5 people. Our account manager is our main contact. He checks feedback and makes sure Codup.co has all the assets they need. Also, other people in the team are a couple of developers and the person who runs the agency.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
We found them through Codeable. We had a few applicants, but Codup.co stood out because they understood the project and scope. They also had an excellent, broad portfolio. We reviewed it and saw they were what we were looking for.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $12,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began our partnership in December 2020. The first project wrapped up in early March 2021, but we still go back to them for different projects, especially when we’re over our capacity.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’ve hired a few subcontractors in my time, and Codup.co hasn’t required much management compared to others. They’ve freed up my schedule to focus on growing other parts of the business. Overall, it’s an added peace of mind to know things are being taken care of.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
I’ve never struggled to get a hold of them, and that’s something I’ve significantly struggled with other contractors. We have a Trello board together, which is our primary source to review the project. If I have a question or they have a question, that’s where we check it out.
We also use email to communicate. If needed, we schedule a meeting through Google Meets for the next business day, and we always try to keep it short.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Firstly, I know I can get a hold of them. I’ve run into many subcontractors that ghost me when we have a deadline to meet, while Codup.co has always been available.
Also, the quality of work is great. We’ve never had an issue with them. They clearly understand what we need as a deliverable, and they usually hit the mark.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there isn’t anything. I thought that working with an international agency would be a challenge, but everything has gone smoothly. We couldn’t be happier.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear on the scope and provide as much documentation as you can.

UX Design & QuickBooks Integration for Automotive Equipment Co

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Zendex Tool is a manufacturer of automotive tools and equipment. We make wheel dollies and pneumatic jacks — things to lift and move cares. I’m the VP of operations here.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codup.co?
We’ve been growing our online sales through our website and different e-commerce platforms like Amazon. We wanted to improve the website experience so that our customers could easily find replacement parts for the various products that we’ve been selling for the last 30 years. In conjunction with that, we needed a way for our website orders to feed into our QuickBooks accounting system.
We asked Codup.co to do that development and create a link between our website and Quickbooks.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Who developed the scope of the work based on our several discussions about how I envisioned the site to work. Codup.co presented templates of B2B e-commerce websites that they’ve developed in the past and we did a fair amount of customization to make those fit our needs.
What is the team composition?
I've had direct contact with 4 people from Codup.co: the main business manager, with whom I spoke about the scope of work, a business analyst, and two developers.
How did you come to work with Codup.co?
I found them on a website called Codeable. We posted our project there and had a handful of different developers bid on it. I chose Codup.co based on their ratings and previous work which were all viewable on the website.
How much have you invested with them?
I don't know the exact figure, but it's in the neighborhood of around $12,000–$15,000. The original bid was for $11,000, but we’ve added on some things to that.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the project around October 2020 and it is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I can’t give any exact figures, but looking at our Google Ads, I can see that our success rate in terms of having people click on our advertisements and purchase something from the website has substantially gone up from below 1% to 5%–6%. I think that attests to the ease of use on the new site versus the old one. Customers can now actually find us and purchase what they weren’t always buying on our old platform.
Our overall web sales have improved as well. They’ve been steadily improving for a long while, but they’re holding at a higher level now.
How did Codup.co perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s very easy to work with Codup.co and I think they’ve done great in this aspect. They’ve very clearly laid out the scope of work and broke it down into several smaller projects, giving me the chance to comment on each development as we worked through it. The team also makes adjustments based on my feedback.
There's definitely a lot of communication. We hop on video calls frequently and spend a lot of time going over the look, feel, and functionality of the website, making sure that everything was up to the standard we wanted. We were initially going back and forth through Codeable but found it a lot more efficient to just get on a call.
We use Google Meet. We’ve also been communicating with them through Google Chat for quick little questions. We’re able to work around the time difference to make everything easy.
The project has gone on for a pretty long time, but not as a result of anything they've done. Codup.co works very fast. It's just that it took a while for sheets of data to load into the website, especially since we're working with information around a lot of parts and products.
It takes me a couple of weeks to test, vet, and approve what they’re developing, so it’s not their fault. I feel really bad about it because we were planning to finish by the end of 2020. COVID-19 also played a factor in the delay, but it’s mostly been my inability to get what they need to them in a timely manner. For instance, we needed to get a lot of new images made, cleaned up, and saved in the right format. It was a lot of groundwork that I realized I should’ve done before we started the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The level of communication has been very, very good. I always know where we are at when it comes to the project. Even if the ball is in my court, Codup.co is very diligent with following up to make sure that we’re moving along. They help me whenever they could on that. I’m very happy with it and I think the results speak for themselves.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It's hard to say because some of the challenges in this project, like the importing of files, are things that they couldn’t have really helped with. I don't have any constructive criticism to give.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear with the scope and functionality that you're looking for because this helps Codup.co deliver it to you. I wasn't initially detailed enough with what I was looking for, and the team was happy to make the changes as we went along, but it would have been easier for them if I was more explicit about the requirements upfront. The more detail you can give, the better.
Delivering a cart feature, Codup's work was crucial for enabling continuous sales. The assigned developers worked hard around a religious holiday to ensure minimal delays. The client is pleased with the level of development work, as they are with the collaborative atmosphere that Codup fostered.
