We help insurance companies and insurance brokers to do data migrations, conversions and improve their data quality. I am the managing partner in direct communication with the developers in the role of product owner.

For what projects/services did your company hire Dreamix?

We developed the first version of our policy migration, conversion and quality improvement application ourselves. But getting further we needed more development capacity that was not available in our country.

What were your goals for this project?

The solution had to be flexible, so it could adjust to different customer needs and auditable, so that we could trace back all changes and why they were made.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We started by selecting companies near the good technical universities. Selected about 20 companies, that we wrote to have a discussion with a lead programmer, review some code that they made and evaluated their pricing model. Based on that analysis we created a shortlist of three companies that I visited. During the visit we interviewed the management team and the developers, which lead to the final selection of our software development partner.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The Apollon application is a configurable application in which you can import and export insurance data in a flexible format. On the data in the system business rules can be executed to identify issues and update fields (also based on external data sources). The data can also be manually improved by users via a configurable user interface. The application is fully fuctional and working for multiple customers. We are currently working on improving our customer onboarding process and improving the way that the business rules can be defined by customers.

What was the team composition?

The development team consists of 4 developers, assisted by architects and subject matter experts within Dreamix that are external to the core development team. The core developmentteam consists of two senior developers, a medior and a junior developer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

For two months we are doing an active acquisition of new insurance broker companies. After 15 visits to companies, more than 80% of them are very positive and want to be onboard. The customers that we have currently got are very satisfied with the solution and especially with the speed that changes are implemented in the application.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The team is self-directing, based on the scrum methodology. Responsibility for the sprint items are not put on a single developer but are always the responsibility of the team. This has been proven very effective for me.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I would definitely say the culture that they implemented throughout the entire company. It's a caring and sharing culture that is managed internally as well as externally and to their customers (or partners as they like to call). The developers are all really motivated and are encouraged to dive deep, not only technical but also in understanding the customer processes and business needs.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I am very happy with the way that we are collaborating at the moment. Dreamix is always open to suggestions and is willing to put the effort into implementing the suggestions.

What were your goals for this project?

I initially hired Dreamix to fix a major bug that was causing Twibble web application to shut down every week or so. Moreover, the users were unable to log in. Massive db problems due to Elasticsearch. Basically nothing worked and the entire backend had to be rebuilt.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I met Stoyan Mitov in San Francisco who introduced me to the team and I became convinced they were a great dev team.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

When they joined, they started debugging, scrutinizing through the code and system. It appeared that Elasticsearch was used as a database which was a problem because Elastic doesn't support ACID transactions. In short, it led to no guarantee that Twitter's authentication token will be available when someone wants to login.

We fixed the many memory issues one by one, moved the database to MySQL and the web app started to operate smoothly. After the fix, Dreamix team started working on new features and was responsible for the support.
