C42 strictly followed their very structured process outlined by the SOW. Timelines were tightly held by C42. Customer was the holdup and cause for extended development schedule. C42 team was very interactive from the very first introductory call. Their use of Basecamp as a communication tool took a moment to get used to but worked very well. They were equally responsive in other communication tools such as email and phone calls, but clearly prefer Basecamp for record keeping and their internal communication with team members. C42 seems committed to making sure their service and deliverables are prompt and on time. Any delays were customer related. C42 was very understanding when it came to our internal content review and the delays that it caused while gaining team member consensus.

Whitney is great in this respect — if she doesn’t know the answer to my questions, she’ll tell me right away and search for someone who knows the answer, coming back to me usually within a couple of days. We have regular communications via emails, phone, and video calls. They like having monthly check-ins to review our progress and our SEO and PPC metrics. The team always looks at my current goals and keeps modifying what they do based on my goals. Moreover, they’re always responsive; this is especially true for Whitney.

I think our website gives out a sense that we are a professional and serious business (which we are) that our customer can trust and rely on. Like I said earlier, since we're on a retainer we can request changes and updates to the content, adding new locations for our services, updating our services and content without having to worry about having to 'hire' them again to make these updates. Over the years we've actually gone through two website refreshes with the same company and we're currently working on a third one, and the cost to do these refreshes is pennies compared to hiring a design company each time.

As far as estimates and timelines, they were really on top of them more than I was at times. They’d contact me and let me know there was an event coming up on this day, asking if I had all the collateral I needed. I eventually turned over all my fulfillment to them too. I did 55 events last year, and it was getting ridiculous that I had to pack boxes, so I turned everything over to them.

I can’t speak highly enough about Mary Ann, the office manager. She is just phenomenal and on top of things. She contacted me, calling about upcoming events, and if I was all set for it as far as what I’m going to send and deadlines. There were times in our company where they didn’t take the deadlines as seriously, but when you’re dealing with an event, the event is coming whether you like it or not, and it’s going to happen on that date. They were just great about staying on top of that and making sure that we were looking for the least expensive way of transporting things by not having to pay rush charges, and I appreciated that.

I would say their turnaround is a great aspect. I worked for a company that was incredibly fast paced and understaffed. It might be the way all companies are today. We needed stuff turned around in an instant, and they went above and beyond to do those things. To give you an example, we had an event in January and had acquired a company. My boss decided she wanted to add their product set to our banners. The show was starting that weekend. I brought it to them on Wednesday, and they redid, printed, shipped, and delivered those banners to Hawaii on Saturday.

We’re somewhat of a demanding client because we’re always wanting to make changes, to do something different or add something. What I like is they always come back with a positive attitude. They always meet the challenge and they do it in a timely manner. It doesn’t take weeks, it takes maybe days; if not days, [then] hours. They’re just very quick to respond. They also truly know what they’re doing and are experts. I know that when I have a question, they know what they’re talking about and they explain so that I can understand. They’re programmers, but they explain it so that a layperson can understand as well. That, I appreciate, because I in turn can explain it to management.
