In the beginning, we provided designial the wireframes, and they helped us turn them into a clickable prototype using Figma. After that, they put together a user research study. During this process, they helped us recruit participants, schedule and conduct interviews with them, and summarize all the feedback and recommendations we received.

I previously worked with Raj at another company several years ago. I had a great experience working with him, so I reached out to him for this project.

We worked together on this project from April–July 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The user research study went well —  we got real, actionable information that confirmed some of our hypotheses and gave us new information to build on.

How did designial perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a great job of managing everything. Whenever something unexpected happened, they made the necessary adjustments to ensure we stayed on track. For communication, we interacted through Google Meet, Zoom, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Raj was great to work with. He executed the project well, and we were able to have strategic conversations with him that allowed us to explore different ideas beyond the specifics of our user research study.

Are there any areas they could improve on?

I can’t think of anything.

I’m the CFO of DiningTek; we're a sales and marketing platform for the restaurant industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with designial?

We wanted to enhance the capabilities of our marketing portal to accommodate automation. Our internal development team had tried to expand the platform, but we weren’t happy with the results, and we wanted to improve UI/UX, so we engaged designial to help us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The designial team has helped expand the functionality of our sales and marketing platform. To start, they conducted user research and defined user personas. Since then, they’ve redesigned the UI/UX and worked alongside our internal team to enable the platform for automation. Together, we've accomplished about 50% of the automation work so far.

We’ve worked with six designial team members, including three engineers and Raj (Founder). 

How did you come to work with designial?

We found designial through a referral from our colleague in Silicon Valley. During our interview process, designial provided us with a detailed project brief, so we chose to move forward with the partnership.

We’ve invested roughly $30,000 in the partnership with designial so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working on this project with designial in March 2022, and the partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since the project is only halfway complete, each segment designial has worked on is functional, but we haven’t reached the level of automation we’re aiming for quite yet. Even still, designial’s efforts have made our team more efficient because they’ve reduced the number of manual tasks in our processes. 

Although we don’t have access to quantifiable results yet, the designial team has significantly improved our platform's look, feel, and functionality. The results have been great thus far; we’ve conducted internal audits, and our team has been happy with the findings. 

Designial has also redesigned the UI/UX, making it more modern and easier for our users to navigate, which has positively impacted our business. Since working with designial, we’ve grown substantially and opened two offices. 

How did designial perform from a project management standpoint?

Raj has been a fantastic project manager, and the designial team has met deadlines. We don’t have much free time, so we’ve relied on designial to move the project forward, and they’ve followed through. They’ve been straightforward and communicative partners, which has enabled us to establish a great working relationship. 

The team has successfully delivered everything we’ve asked for on time and within budget. We meet weekly via Zoom to review tasks, and our CTO sends a progress report after every meeting to ensure we’re performing on target. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve been impressed with designial’s ability to execute the project according to our requirements within the time estimates. Although they’re a small team, they’re very knowledgeable about software and have been a pleasure to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No one is perfect, but we haven’t had any issues with designial; I have nothing they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I advise reaching out to designial with a fully fleshed-out budget and project plan so that you can understand exactly which services they can provide at what cost. As long as you communicate a clear budget and project timeline, designial will deliver.

We needed consulting on how we could improve the UI/UX of our product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

designial provided us with a pro-bono consulting call on how to improve our product. At the time, we were just a startup, and our budget was a big constraint. However, they were kind enough to provide us with a consultant to evaluate our product. This person spent a lot of time reviewing our product’s UI/UX and explaining how we could enhance different parts of it. Ultimately, they delivered a proposal with detailed recommendations for improving our UI/UX.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one person from designial.

How did you come to work with designial?

We initially connected through a startup group because we were in the same area, although I’m not sure if that group was on WhatsApp or Slack.

How much have you invested with them?

It was a pro-bono project; there was no money involved.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve engaged with designial twice. The first time was in early 2019, and the second time was at the beginning of 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

designial’s work quality was great; they came in with a lot of experience. Unfortunately, due to our budgetary constraints, we couldn’t move forward with the actual redesign project they proposed.

How did designial perform from a project management standpoint?

Given that ours was just a pro-bono consulting session, there was no project management involved, although I’m sure they would have been great in that regard. We communicated via LinkedIn and email.

designial was very knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help.

Designial looked at our current product UI and the navigation flow to understand the product and the current challenges with UI/UX. They looked at the menu navigation, transaction screens, and its navigation. The drill-down of multiple related UIs etc. Also the color theme, fonts etc. Then they came up with possible approaches for the design changes and some fixes as well as cost involved.
