What was most unexpected and impressive though, turned out to be the openness to pitch in with innovative creative ideas based on what they learned during research and discovery about Doberman's personality and aspirations. An example is that Doberman identified a print half tone/dot matrix type aesthetic as something we liked - BUT, we recognized that we produce content for television, not for print. Massive came up with a solution that felt in the spirit of what we loved about the print aesthetic but was geared towards TV - tube TV square pixels.

OpenXcell's workflow pattern is very easy for me to deal with. Their metrics are based on milestones, as with any other project, but OpenXcell's way of keeping track of things is very intuitive. We use Excel and Word documents, as well as their proprietary, Slack-like messaging platform. All of this helps OpenXcell's team deliver things on time. As an American, I appreciate the fact that OpenXcell will work while I'm sleeping, and even beyond that. Their work hours are not 9–5, but rather 8–7, and the team even works on Saturdays.

RubyGarage has always gone the extra mile for us. The nature of our work means that we're always working, specifically during holiday times and weekends, when clients are most active. Their staff has remained available and they've given us more than we paid for, working in the evenings and on weekends for us, without additional charge. Our engagement with RubyGarage is a partnership. They don't have equity in our business, but when it comes to changing circumstances, they will go out of their way in order to accommodate the specific needs of the time. Our developers have been up working at 12 o'clock at night on Saturdays, without being paid to do it. They've enjoyed working on the platform and we've enjoyed working with them. We've visited their headquarters a couple of times and found that they're more than what would be expected from an offshore developer. They care about what they're doing and about the quality of their work.
