Chelsea FC - Iconography
An adaptive icon system for Chelsea Football Club. This unification helps to maintain a consistent visual appearance in line with the famous Chelsea crest and their brand typeface.
As with any brand that has multiple fan and business touchpoints, following a full review Chelsea Football Club found their iconography to be inconsistent, confused and unfit to set foot on the pitch. We worked with the brand team to create a unified, simple solution to this identity problem.
We identified all the digital and physical touchpoints icons were used across the entire business and devised a new icon system that would work seamlessly across screens and signage. Based on their brand typeface, Chelsea Basis and the club crest, the new linear icons have been developed on a grid system to maintain consistency and legibility.

“They got behind our vision for the brand, working hard to make it a reality.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a company that’s dedicated to empowering women and minority groups by demystifying opportunities available in the music business.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
They handled visual branding for the company.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I reached out to them with requirements, communicating that I wanted a bold, fun, colorful brand. We had discussions about how we envisioned the brand and how their team could provide a solution. They came up with a logo, colors, and a visual brand identity. In the end, they returned to us with two options for the logo and visual items.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Chris (Managing Director) and Tom (Creative Director & Co-Founder).
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
They’ve done work for friends of mine, and I’ve been impressed with what they’ve created in those engagements.
How much have you invested with them?
The project is valued at around £500 (approximately $680 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We collaborated from September–October 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work is top quality, and we’ve received great feedback on their visuals. We’ve incorporated the branding elements into our Instagram and LinkedIn pages, and they make our brand look very strong. The visuals stand out.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated over email. They were great to work with and very responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They got behind our vision for the brand, working hard to make it a reality.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear about your brief. That will make it easier for their designers to bring your ideas to fruition. That’s the experience I’ve had with other designers as well.

Branding for Finance-Centered Media Platform
“We gave them very fuzzy, general ideas for the brand, and they were able to successfully bring them to life.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re an accountancy firm that’s recently created another content and media brand.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
They helped us with the branding efforts of our new business.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Together, we launched a brand that has since turned into the working title for our finance department. We wanted the brand to be an online content and media platform, targeting finance professionals working within the early-stage tech startup scene. We communicated that goal to their team, hoping they could bring the concept to life.
Through various calls and discovery sessions, they built and brought the finance department to life. That included everything from brand guidelines, coloring, logos, and more.
We’ll be kicking off a website development project in January 2021. They’re supporting the wireframing currently, taking the brand they created online.
What is the team composition?
We directly work with Chris (Managing Director) and Tom (Creative Director & Co-Founder). There’s more support in the background.
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
We received a recommendation from a colleague. Someone in his network had a good experience with them and recommended that we consider their services.
How much have you invested with them?
The branding work ended up costing about £12,000 (approximately $16,300 USD). The wireframing work for our website will likely cost another £7,000 (approximately $9,500 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since August 2020. They delivered the new branding assets by the end of September 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’ve done a fantastic job with the branding work. While there hasn’t been a great deal of external feedback, my colleagues and I have been happy with their work.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
They broke down the branding work into quick sprints. Chris is brilliant and very responsive to emails and calls. The project was well-structured and completed on time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We gave them very fuzzy, general ideas for the brand, and they were able to successfully bring them to life.
Our team wasn’t as clear as we could’ve been with expectations, so it was pretty impressive that they delivered as effectively as they did. They were even willing to handhold through their process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think so.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust them as the experts in the branding space, allowing them to support you and bring your vision to life.

Design Services for Football Club
"Overall the most impressive thing is how quickly they turn-over the assets once they start working on it."
the reviewer
the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm Marketing Executive of a football club, running digital/web activity of our children's marketing programme.
For what projects/services did your company hire LoveGunn?
LoveGunn create our players and club mascot illustrations which are used in a range of different applications; from on the website, to matchday programmes, OOH advertising.
What were your goals for this project?
The illustrations achieve a certain stylistic aesthetic for the website. The players are all illustrated in the same way. The mascots are too, however, we've got more playful with them this year, with LoveGunn helping us with 'Christmas Detective Hunt' themed illustrations for some other web activities. These illustrations are used across our work, which aims to drive website traffic.
How did you select LoveGunn?
We have an in-house creative team, however, we select LoveGunn because we've used them for multiple years with the team (and other areas of the business) now so they're trusted and reliable, as well as having a particular set of illustrative skills that we don't have to the same degree in-house.
LoveGunn have been involved in our club after winning a pitching hackathon/competition a couple of seasons ago.
Describe the project in detail.
Illustrations of the following:
- x4 Mascots in Detective Outfits
- x7 player/manager illustrations in this seasons kit Two rounds of feedback from us for each project.
We provide reference images. LoveGunn solely responsible for the illustration of images.
What was the team composition?
Only POC for me is Chris from LoveGunn, which makes things easy. From our side I lead on the projects we're reviewing, although LG also work with other areas of the business on other projects too
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
For the Christmas activities, we had much higher YoY website visits than before, due to the activities we ran. This was achieved without any paid media support so it was completely organic.
The creative played a huge part in this, with our Head of Department commenting that the creative was so good that he could "clearly imagine it as a TV programme in that style". The success of the other player assets is more difficult to measure as they're used across such a wide range of applications
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Chris and LoveGunn are always great. With the player illustrations, Chris basically manages the workflow and delivers the ensures it's delivered in good time. With the Christmas activities, I believe LoveGunn turned the 4 illustrations around in less than 3 working days, which was of huge benefit to our team planning a wider activation.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I inherited the team from a colleague who moved quite suddenly to another part of the business before leaving so I was appreciative of LG's patience with me getting up to speed, and their help getting me there.
Overall the most impressive thing is how quickly they turn-over the assets once they start working on it. This was exemplified in the Christmas activities explained earlier.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The cost can sometimes seem a little high, although you do get what you pay for with LoveGunn and they're worth the money.
Due to budget cuts on our programme, however, I've had to be more selective with the projects that we can use LG for in some cases and rely more on our in-house team. For example, we got fewer players illustrated and didn't include all of our new signings.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the head of marketing at a startup. We do virtual networking for communities.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
We needed to completely rebrand in the wake of COVID-19. We wanted to change our name and create a new website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked with us to develop a new brand identity. This included a new logo, web design, social media photos, and name. They also helped us draw up an announcement for our new brand.
They held a brainstorming session where they asked us a bunch of questions and go to know us as a company. They showed us several options for branding materials and we got to pick and choose our favorite aspects of each one. We ended up with something very customized as a result.
What is the team composition?
I worked with two people, including Chris (Managing Director & Co-Founder).
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
We had worked with them before. We sent an RFP to several agencies for this project, and we chose to work with them again because they were invested in our company and understood who we were.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them for this project in July 2020, and we finished the project that November.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We spoke to some of our clients and investors, and they thought the work was impactful. They also met deadlines and fulfilled all of our deadlines. It’s been successful.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated via email. They were quick to respond to me and were solution-oriented. The team was always upbeat, enthusiastic, and flexible.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were genuine partners. They were thoughtful and invested in our success. They took the time to make sure that everything was done correctly. They had high standards and were also patient with us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We would’ve loved to have a little bit more clarity around what needs to happen legally in order to change your company name. We weren’t clear on all of the business logistics.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I don’t have any specific advice. They’re quite easy to work with, and they do good work.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of Jungle Creations. We’re a social publisher.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
We engaged with them as part of a rebrand across our multiple channels. The main objective was to reposition the business and our commercial channels. We wanted to look better, sound better, and be more relevant to the commercial market.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They handled our branding, strategy, and design services. This included helping form our identity and strategy around what we do and how we understand the community. The design efforts included website, packaging, and print design as well as animation. They used the Adobe Creative Suite.
For the identity creation aspects, they conducted a competitor analysis so we could understand the market. Their team proposed different routes that we were then able to choose from. They repositioned us in efforts to help us form B2B partnerships. They also handled our social media marketing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
What is the team composition?
We worked predominantly with Tom (Co-Founder & Creative Director) and Christian (Co-Founder & Managing Director) but also with their internal team.
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
One of the founders is a good friend of mine, however, we went with LoveGunn because they have great experience between the two founders. They’ve worked with big brands and have great creativity.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested around £200,000 (approximately $263,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The project ran from June 2017–June 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Before the rebrand, we didn’t have any brand partnerships, however, since then we’ve acquired over 300 brand partnerships. What’s more, we’re now a one-hundred-person company over two countries.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was absolutely brilliant. We have a great relationship with them, and the project was managed over Slack. We used Basecamp for the web development work and held weekly meetings. Their team was on top of things and reactive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was very impressed with their creative innovation. They were constantly coming up with new ideas, pushing boundaries, and doing things a bit differently to other agencies we’ve worked with in the past. We’d give them a brief, and they’d push it farther by thinking about how it’s relevant to our readers.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, everything was good.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Speak to them and learn about their process. Their process is different from other agencies because they’re very strategic. If you want to do things a little differently, then they’re the agency for you. They’re tried, tested, and very good at what they do.

Website Redesign for Vision-Based Charitable Organization
"Their team thoroughly analyzed the website to ensure that we made the best platform possible."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a creative consultant working for a company called Inc. London. One of our clients is a charitable organization based in the vision sector.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
We wanted to reskin our client’s website. While they had a brand identity that stood out in their industry, their website was too complicated.
For example, users had to move their mouse when they landed on the home page to read any content. A lot of users dropped off in that initial stage.
We wanted to simplify and freshen the site to make it more effective in communicating our client’s mission. We needed to ensure that the platform captured people at an early stage.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LoveGunn redesigned our client’s website. They identified key changes that needed to be made. Their team analyzed the website, so they backed up their recommendations with data. They updated the website to ensure that visitors found information as quickly as possible.
What is the team composition?
My main point of contact was Christian (Managing Director & Co-Founder).
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
I knew their owner. We talked for quite a while about their work and saw examples. We put out a brief and LoveGunn came back with the strongest response and a reasonable rate. They felt like a good fit.
How much have you invested with them?
The project cost around £5,000 pounds (approximately $6,300 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the project in November 2019, and it concluded in May 2020. There were 2–3 months when the world went crazy, so the project was slightly delayed.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
LoveGunn created a much fresher and easier to use website. The platform’s only been up and running for about a month, so we don’t have engagement figures yet. Certainly, they delivered what we wanted.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
Throughout the entire process, we were in almost daily contact to ensure alignment. They had a good process. Their team was always on hand for any of our questions. They drove the project forward, which we require from our agency partners because we’re small.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their team provided a high level of client service. Also, their data collection and insights impressed us. Websites can’t just be pretty homes for information anymore. Website development needs to be led by data and science. Their team thoroughly analyzed the website to ensure that we made the best platform possible.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t think so. As a whole, they did an excellent job.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My general advice is to create a thorough brief that allows your agency partner to understand your requirements. A great brief at the outset allows the process to be as simple as possible for all parties.

As a result of working with LoveGunn, we’ve managed to get our products into one of the top two supermarkets in the UK. As a result, we’ve tripled our revenue in one year. They understand our marketplace and challenges, so their team knew what would make an effective brand. Their team does a good job, which is why we’re still working with them.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
Depending on the project, we speak daily or twice a week. When we’re not working on a project, we’ll check-in once a month. They’ve always been there when we needed them. Their team’s on top of the game.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their design work speaks for itself. That’s a key quality when you go to any branding agency. Their work is strong enough to be effective. They’re reasonable with deliverables and the time it takes to produce them. Their team’s accurate with their estimates.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we’re happy with how the engagement’s going at the moment. There’s nothing I would change. As with any services, they could be cheaper, but the cost is worth it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It always helps to have a good brief. Know exactly what you’re trying to achieve. Do background research into your competitors to show LoveGunn what’s in the market space. It’s also helpful to look at where you want to go with your business to give them an objective to visualize.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the co-founder of Beauty Blvd., a cosmetics company in the UK.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
We have used LoveGunn numerous times because we have been extremely happy with their work. The first project we hired them for was a brand refresh for our cosmetics company.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LoveGunn led a complete overhaul of our brand guidelines. They stripped the brand and created a modern look and feel with a whole color palette, font set, and everything that a brand needs from start to finish. That was one of the first elements LoveGunn helped us with, and they did an amazing job.
They have also created some packaging. We wanted a very modern feel for one of the new products that we're launching globally. LoveGunn created the product's packaging.
We had engaged with them to do some more product packaging at the latter part of last year, but that project has been shelved for now because of internal changes.
What is the team composition?
I am mainly in touch with Tom (Creative Director & Co-Founder) and Chris (Managing Director & Co-Founder), but they delegate some of the work to other team members. They are very passionate. They tend to go to the briefings themselves, so they understand the scope of the project. I feel we are quite aligned and very passionate about what we do.
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
My business partner and I were in London and we saw some work they had created on the packaging for a sweets company. They had done a whole rebrand of different sweet packages in different fonts and colors for this company, and they looked phenomenal. Just by having that brand alteration of clearer lines and new packaging, their brand managed to get some big contracts within some of the bigger stores in the UK.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our brand refresh started in August 2018. We then engaged with them for the product packaging in November 2018, which was very successful. We then engaged with them again in August 2019 to do some more packaging, but then we had some internal shifts and had to put things on hold. I would not hesitate to use them again.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The brand guidelines proved to be absolutely important for us. The whole refresh was put through our website, stationary, and everything, and it just gave the business a breath of fresh air. It gave our employees clarity on what they could achieve over social media or communications on our behalf. It gave a real sense of boundaries and guidelines ensured that no matter where we were, we spoke with the same voice. We engaged a lot more bloggers and influencers because of the change. That really helped to grow the brand globally.
We are extremely pleased with the packaging LoveGunn did as well; it was so fun and innovative that you couldn’t help but pick it up. I do think it went a long way in helping us get an airline listing and continuous showings thereafter. As for the third project, we just have shelved it for now, but I would not hesitate to get back in touch with them to pick that back up.
LoveGunn will be one of my first calls for future projects because they are exciting and innovative. They immerse themselves in the area that they need to produce the goods for, and when they do deliver, speaking from my experience, I have always been happy with the designs they send over. The hardest thing is choosing just one.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
I think they were more on the ball than I was. They took every aspect and element into consideration. Anything that they didn’t understand from perhaps the production line side of things like our requirements and deadlines, they were very open and learned quite quickly. They adapted anything that needed to be done so that we could get the production line rolling quickly on the product design.
LoveGunn was extremely organized and very focused. I felt confident putting my faith in them: they showed us what they can do, and then they did it. When we are working on a project, communication could be weekly, and then when things are intense, it could be daily. We would email quite regularly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Other providers made me like I was a number in a long list of numbers. Don’t get me wrong, the end result wasn’t bad, and they may have been cheaper or more expensive. However, I just feel like LoveGunn has a passion that extends into what they do. They want to get it right and work hard to make sure they do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have anything negative to say.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The biggest hurdle I think for them is knowing what it is you want. Sit down with your team, have a real conversation, and really pin down what it is you want. Make sure your scope of work is as clear as it can be. If you are a bit unclear, as I was, it can take a little time to get to the right answer. The more foundation you do before you engage with them, the more you will get for your money.

Rebranding for E-Sports Entertainment Company
"LoveGunn took the time to understand our business."

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and chief gaming office at Excel Esports. We’re a leading UK-based gaming and e-sports entertainment brand. Our primary product’s an e-sports team that competes in the League of Legends European Championship.
What challenge were you trying to address with LoveGunn?
When we hired LoveGunn, we were transitioning from a semi-professional organization into the big leagues. We were accepted into a premier competition. We were going to be the newest and smallest brand within that competition. We needed to revamp our brand to differentiate ourselves from our competition.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LoveGunn completely overhauled our brand after learning about who we were and what we stood for as a company. They provided weekly workshops when we spent either half the day or the full day together depending on what was required at that step in the process. The workshops concerned brand identity and strategy. Their team made bold changes but also kept what was good about our original brand. After the rebrand was complete, they worked with us to help us implement their work.
What is the team composition?
We generally worked with the two founders.
How did you come to work with LoveGunn?
I met one of their founders at an industry event. LoveGunn was at the event to learn about the e-sports industry after having done work in the traditional sports industry. We got talking and they seemed passionate about trying to understand us. Despite not being from the e-sports industry, they got it. Their team felt like a good fit.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started this major project in November 2018, and it was complete in March 2019. We’re not currently engaged in any projects with them.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The response from the community was extremely positive. We were scared of the process because we loved our brand. Given the response post-completion, we were so pleased that we went through the process with LoveGunn. We came out with a much stronger brand identity and communications. The brand looks clean and has lots of possible applications in terms of merchandising.
How did LoveGunn perform from a project management standpoint?
We were in constant communication throughout the whole process. Their team kept us up to date. They were clear about the deliverables and when each deliverable would be complete. They never missed a deadline. It was a positive process.
What did you find most impressive about them?
LoveGunn took the time to understand our business. Our industry is unknown to the mainstream. We have to do a lot of myth-busting with external agencies. We didn’t have to do that with LoveGunn. Their team took the time to understand us and got it, which gave us a lot of comfort. They were aligned with us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could provide more support post-completion to ensure the work’s applied correctly in all areas. At the time, we were a young organization. We misapplied some of their work, which certainly devalued it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Try to get as much face time with the guys as possible. You’ll benefit from them truly understanding you and your business.
Receiving high praise from all involved, LoveGunn’s solutions were impressive. The client has incorporated elements of the new brand into social media profiles and feels that they provide a strong representation of their business. The firms communicated well throughout the partnership.
