Conner turned around the work quite quickly. I had at least one or sometimes two edits to go over each week. He was more than happy to edit or adjust a section, size, color, etc. It was important to me to stick to my shop's aesthetic (1940s style ice cream shop). While the first few samples weren't exactly what I was looking for, we talked out my color design, font styles, etc and Conner would come back to our next meeting with all areas improved. I also appreciated his suggestions from an outsider's perspective on bringing more customers to my shop. They were very easy to work with and accommodated my busy spring schedule. There was no hard sell, either (which I got from many other companies I spoke with about my project). It felt very much like I know my business well and he knows website building well, so we came together to come up with the best of all worlds on my website. It's very well done.

Account team quality is what determines whether you get the senior people sold to you on the pitch or the junior team that takes over after signing.

Also, make sure to ask vital questions like what's the staffing model on your account, who's the senior accountable person, and how does the agency handle scope creep when (not if) it happens.

Service breadth that's clearly wider than headcount. If a 25-person agency claims deep expertise in eight disciplines, two or three are subcontracted.
Pitch heroics, delivery juniors. It's standard for senior people to attend pitches; it's a problem if they vanish after signing.
No measurement framework. A full-service agency should be obsessive about how success will be measured across disciplines, before work starts.
