THE CLIENT: Children's Aid and Family Services, a prolific nonprofit in New Jersey, has been undergoing a transformation and expansion of services. Long recognized for their award-winning foster and adoption programs, the charity also offers life-changing programs in the areas of drug and alcohol education, recovery support, housing and day programs for people with developmental disabilities, housing for teen mothers, and

diapers and formula for families who are struggling at the poverty level.

CHALLENGE: Create energy, excitement and donor support for the new services and programs the agency now provides in a Case for Support. Engage and inspire donors to help change lives through giving.

STRATEGY: Working closely with the development team, we collectively agreed that the core of all the services offered centered around family or a family-like/mentor/foster base of support. Having support and connections helps those struggling to survive -- to thrive.

The rebranding included a new logo, website design for, print marketing materials, social media, email marketing templates, and a sponsorship brochure.

Just a month after site launch, a regional utility found the organization through online search and committed to a sponsorship.

The new website seamlessly integrates forms for donations, volunteers, sponsorships, event registration and grant applications.

The website collects donor information through forms sending it to a donor database/CRM hosted by Salsa Labs.

Please describe your company and your position there.

Children’s Aid and Family Services is one of northern New Jersey’s leading nonprofit providers of services that protect and support vulnerable children, adults and families. As an agency, we are focused on meeting ever-evolving social needs by expanding our programs to help members of the community live their best lives. I am the Vice President of Development

For what projects/services did your company hire Rapunzel Creative Marketing Agency?

We were looking to redo our case for support since we had programmatic changes.

What were your goals for this project?

To communicate to our donors, volunteers and staff the impact of their donations. Since we were changing and adding programs we wanted to make sure that our old donor base still supported our work.

How did you select this vendor?

Personal referral.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

They did a printed case for support brochure and matching website. The brochure included our mission and vision. Each page would reference a program and include a problem and the solution our agency provides. We also included statistics about our programs. The corresponding webpage helped us with another avenue to communicate to donors.

What was the team composition?

We worked with our account representative and there was a web designer and another copywriter she worked with.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We have heard, anecdotally, from staff and donors that the case for support is easy to read and the corresponding website is interactive and engaging.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We worked well together through email and weekly updates.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

understanding of our agency and ability to work within a budget.

Are there any areas for improvement?

understanding the nonprofit programs and deadlines.
