They were highly responsive. Also, our website had a firm date by which it had to launch because we were launching in tandem with an AMS system, and they hit that deadline. If I ever asked our project manager for anything, she ensured it was delivered. She responded promptly to emails, but we also used Teamwork and did a lot through that, and if I needed her, I didn't have to place a task and wait for her. She was always there. Additionally, we worked with their head of development from beginning to end. He had a team underneath him that came through with additional requests we needed to launch.

They were organized, could speak at a high level, and were careful about costs. We spent a lot of money on the project over time because our scientists wanted pages redone and wanted to add more pages. The work went beyond scope but it was due to internal demand by our scientists for more pages. We had phone calls, and Specto sent proofs back-and-forth. They also came to us for a couple of on-site meetings with the leaders of the institute, which was professional.

I would say that what I personally liked is that they're small and nimble. A little bit later in the process, I tried to engage a marketing consultant. Generally, when I started talking to marketing consultants, I found that they learned one or two tricks, and they've been applying the same trick for 20 years. Simply put, they can't go beyond what they know. It's creative and they were willing to listen. There wasn't a set pattern like, 'Hey, this is how we do it,' or 'Look. This is how it's done.' It was more like 'Tell us what you want, and then we're going to find the right solution for you.' That's probably the best part that I think. I would reiterate that they are small, nimble, smart, creative, flexible, and they know their stuff.

Usually companies that are as creative as graphic designers and marketing people are, they're good at being creative but not good at project management.
