What challenge were you trying to address with Dunclyde?

We were looking for an initial wireframe for our mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dunclyde did the design and development of our app from scratch; I gave them initial sketches, and they turned them into the actual product. The product they developed is available for desktop and mobile, including iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

I worked with two directors from their organization.

How did you come to work with Dunclyde?

They were referred to us by a colleague. We chose them because they understood what we were trying to do, seemed creative, and were also more in line with our brand.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from March–May 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their design work was strong, and that was due to them asking me questions to ensure that they fully understood what we wanted and what they were doing to accomplish it — I’m glad we picked them.

How did Dunclyde perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great at communicating with us, updating us with the process, and providing feedback and advice on our comments on the project to try to fulfill our needs — they were accommodating. In terms of communication, we used video calls and email.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Their creativity was outstanding; its quality was higher than other providers, and they went the extra mile to provide the best for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — they were helpful, and I’m happy with their work.

Ensure that you know what you want and are looking for.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dunclyde?

We wanted to update our website to appeal to a wider audience.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dunclyde developed our new website for us from scratch. To start, we did some workshops on what we wanted to achieve. The team created new designs for the site with the aim of modernizing its look and feel. They also gave us some marketing material to help promote the site. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with two members of the Dunclyde team, one director and one creative director.

How did you come to work with Dunclyde?

They’d done some work for us in the past. We really liked their style and the way they worked, so we decided to work with them again.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement ran from May–December 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from our existing customers. The website was nominated for an award for its design. They had very competitive pricing for the product we got at the end of the day. 

How did Dunclyde perform from a project management standpoint?

Dunclyde always stuck to the deadlines they provided. We changed our minds about aspects of the project a few times, but they were very flexible. Our teams mostly communicated via email and phone, although we had a few face-to-face meetings before the pandemic.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Dunclyde’s creativity and the ideas behind their designs were really impressive. They’re very knowledgeable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we were really pleased with the outcome.

Have your website content prepared in advance. On their recommendation, we got a content writer.

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, they spent time designing our logo. Then, they helped us with our website and it’s hosting. They also helped us with branding for specific events. The team helped us customize our flyers and banners so we could use them for trade shows.

I worked with Daniel (Director) and Eilidh (Director).

How did you come to work with Dunclyde?

I worked with Daniel and Eilidh when they were still at a previous company. When they started on their own, I decided to keep working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent £4,000 (approximately $5,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2019, and we wrapped up in April 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’re very happy with the branding and we continue to get a good response from customers.

How did Dunclyde perform from a project management standpoint?

We managed the project on the phone and in face-to-face meetings. We also used Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. I was always able to get in touch with them if I wanted. They regularly gave me updates on projects.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offered a more personal touch. A lot of bigger companies feel impersonal. With Dunclyde, they had great customer interaction. They were very supportive and there was a lot of collaboration. It never felt like they were taking charge; they were always just helping me develop my ideas.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m happy with everything they delivered. Maybe they could give clients more pointers on how to do some of the web maintenance themselves.

Take advantage of their knowledge. If you ask a lot of questions, they’ll give you answers.

I’m the CEO of Eledo.Online, a digital services company. We do document automation.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Dunclyde?

We needed help with branding and web design, so we hired Dunclyde.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dunclyde started with the logo design for our company. From there, they created the designs for the webpage that presents our company, explains what we do, and shows the benefits of our software. They created branding and style guidelines for other pages, including the colors, header and footer, buttons, paragraph style, font, and other aspects. 

In the beginning, I had some ideas of what I wanted on the page and what the logo should look like, but I didn’t have the exact shapes to describe it. For the logo, they drew 100 different designs and it was a process of elimination from there. 

I have many pages that can be improved and need many graphics, so they’ve been helping me in that area. Since we’ve been going to the Monday.com marketplace, they help with brand graphics to explain my company in that space. We have a lot of opportunities for future cooperation, too.

They found me because they started using my software. When they noticed my webpage didn’t have a design, they offered to help design it. I liked the work that they had done before and decided to use them.

We worked on this project from November 2020-January 2021. Now, we’re working on other projects with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For the webpage design work, they were perfect. They delivered the design and everything on time. We now use the new brand they created for us. We don’t have any metrics because it’s freshly launched, but we do see higher activity with our customers and more conversions with people signing up for our service. 

Our service looks much more professional now — I really like the new design. We don’t have any feedback from our customers on it yet, but my personal feeling is that it is definitely helping because of how much better it looks now. 

How did Dunclyde perform from a project management standpoint?

Throughout the design work, their project management was very good. They were prepared. We communicated on a weekly basis, which was great.

The process was done in multiple phases and, for every phase, they had good documentation and presentation. They explained everything to me very well and managed their time well. We finished the project on time with good results.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They created a great design — it was better than I expected. Their work was amazing. They are a hardworking team that brings results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve done very well.

Be well prepared for every phase of the design process. Communicate during each phase; it’s very important.

We hired them because our website was outdated. It had been on my mind for a few years that we needed to update the platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

For the updated site, we wanted to add e-commerce capabilities and make it mobile-friendly. We also had Dunclyde help with some rebranding efforts involving logo design.

We’ve worked with two people.

How did you come to work with Dunclyde?

I knew Daniel (Director) and Eilidh (Digital Designer) from a previous company. I’d known that they moved on to set up their own business. While I looked around at different companies, I knew that they understood what we already had operating. It seemed logical to give them a chance to come up with a new system for us.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

There’s been a big jump in inquiries. It has been around 40% more than the old site.

How did Dunclyde perform from a project management standpoint?

If I phone or email, I receive almost an instant response. In the design process, I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted. Their team was great at adapting and changing. I changed my mind a lot, and they were great at dealing with that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Dunclyde is a small business with a personal touch. The team sees things outside of the box. They’re also very flexible.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s an ongoing project, so if anything needs to be improved upon, we’ll work it out together.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You have to have a clear vision. If I had that, it would’ve helped me more. Next time, I would try and get stuff down on paper more solidly just to allow them to do their process quicker. My advice would be to give yourself more time than you need to have a plan, which will likely save costs in the long run.
