BACKGROUND

Can you provide a brief description of your company?

We lease marine chassis; the boxes are used for shipping on large ships. Chassis need a set of wheels to be taken across the road and delivered. We lease and rent that equipment. We’re possibly the second largest one in the country. We have about 160,000 units on the roads.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your main goal for undertaking the project with SP Marketplace?

The first project was to install and implement their IT helpdesk solution. We bought that product from them. We also needed customization done to it to suit our IT department flow. Now, the whole IT department runs on it. We use i for problem reporting to the helpdesk, and also requests for reports and enhancements and even initial requests for new projects.

Currently, we’re implementing their project management software. We’re having customization done to match the changes implemented on the helpdesk solution. We want to integrate them in a certain way so both work together well in a manner suited to our department.

What were you using before you started using their helpdesk and project management software?

For the helpdesk solutions, we were using Issue Track, a cloud service. It was getting expensive. We were using Microsoft Project project management. We’re a fairly small department, the software was too large for us.

How did you originally discover and choose SP Marketplace to work with? 

We did a Internet search and then went through about 10 or 12 companies’ demos to see how their products worked. We chose them.

Is the project management software still being installed?

We recently purchased that, and they’re doing the customization.

Can you provide an estimate for the work they’ve done to date?

Their products are reasonable. The entire helpdesk project was about $3,000 or $4,000. Their project management software is under $5,000 with the customization and everything included.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How satisfied are you with work that they've delivered so far?

We’re very satisfied. It works for us, and it’s nice that we’re not stuck with someone else’s solution. The product itself is very solid, and it has basically all the right concepts. We had it tweaked for the processes we have. Now it runs very smoothly.

And how do you feel about the custom work and the level of service that SP Marketplace has provided?

It’s excellent. They’re always right on top of things, even in the initial stages. We had a lot of questions and needed some hand-holding as to how to put in the different permission levels. They respond quickly with different solutions to meet our needs.

When working with SP Marketplace, was there anything you found to be unique about them compared to other developers or consultants you’ve worked with?

I can't think of anything now. We haven’t worked with that many other developers, so I don't have anything to compare them to.

Is there anything that you would do differently or they could improve on?

Not really. I was pleased with the way everything went. They put it in and we played with it for a few weeks. We figured out what we needed to change, and they changed it.
