Can you please provide a brief description of your company and the role that you play there?
I'm the head of marketing and public relations. Intersog is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. We provide custom software development – mostly mobile development. Right now, we are targeting innovative technologies – wearables, Internet of Things, and Big Data. We've been in the software development business for 10 years.
What was the business challenge your company was facing that incited the need for this platform?
In today's software development realm, the business is focused on getting deliveries fast from their provider so that they can speed up their time to market and optimize costs. For us, as a company that actually services businesses that provide enterprise solutions, our aim is to satisfy our clients and speed up the delivery of the software that they're requesting from us.
Therefore, if we only coded from scratch, then the time to code would extend significantly, and this would have negative effects on our delivery promises. It's critical for modern mobile developers to use different platforms, or some pre-developed tools and frameworks, which facilitate the process and allow developers to make fixes or user interface changes quickly while remaining focused on providing high-quality code in the main architecture. I wouldn't say that we had a business challenge that drove us to use these types of platforms and tools, but it's more of a requirement when there are time constraints.
How does your company implement this platform or software?
Qt Creator is a cross-platform tool. It's mostly used for mobile and desktop applications. It has a great user interface library for app design. Our designers usually use Qt Creator when they need to hunt for something to create some new icons, calls to actions and widgets, and it has a very good Linux distributive. Qt is actually the basis for interface development in applications, and that's what our development team uses it for.
Was your company considering other platforms? Why this platform?
Our developers prefer Qt Creator and Xamarin because of the support. These platforms provide various methods of support, and they are quite responsive especially compared to other platforms. The support offered is much better for these two tools.
Were there any software features or tools that really impressed you?
Qt Creator is good for user interface, such as for forms, calls to action, widgets, and other noncore development things.
Looking back, are there any areas of the software upon which you feel could be added or improved?
Qt Creator can slow down the productivity of the app.
Have you had to interact with the platform's support team or reference their support resources?
Yes. We think they have a good support team.
We have a few quick questions and, for each question, we ask you to rate the software on a scale of one to five, with five being the best. What would you give the software for functionality of the features available?
What would you give the software for ease of use or ease of implementation into your business?
For support, as in responsiveness of the team or helpfulness of the resources available?
For overall satisfaction with the platform?
How likely are you to recommend the software to a colleague or similar business?
