What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted a hybrid application that would be accessible on various platforms and would require special programming. Along with being for the web, Android, and iOS, Brainvire Infotech Inc’s team connected the backend of the app with AWS and MailChimp.

Our app has an individual side and commercial side. Customers using the app can log-on and see a gallery of pictures. We make it simple for users to send a gift card that comes inside a gift box that runs with a timer. Users can’t see what’s inside until the timer is up. They can also see the countdown timer in their inboxes. We also work with franchisees and corporations where our team builds out templates for their email ads.

What is the team composition?

Along with Chintan (CEO & President, Brainvire Infotech Inc), Ravikant (Senior Business Analyst, Brainvire Infotech Inc) oversees a team that I also interact with. Some team members handle the web portion, mobile app, and AWS.

I actually found them on Clutch. I liked the layout and content on their website. I also liked that I was able to get right in touch with their team. I reached out to Chintan, and he put together a team. Being able to get directly in touch with the executives of the company made the difference with getting started.

Our engagement with Brainvire Infotech Inc started in March 2019. We have a long schedule and have a lot of updates coming out in the next few weeks.

Trello is another tool we use for communication.

We’re a lab investment manufacturing and distribution company with offices in India and now in the US. I’m the CEO of the US office.

What challenge were you trying to address with Brainvire Infotech Inc?

We are expanding our presence in the Western market. Because of this, we decided to approach Brainvire Infotech Inc to develop our online e-commerce platform for sale in those markets.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

There were various aspects to the project. We started with the UX/UI design before moving into the core development using WordPress. There were a few complex features needed that had to go through HTML and CSS. They created a landing page with a rotating carousel that showcases different products, events, and awards we’ve received. This dynamic aspect is to attract users to the promotions and products we offer.

They built a product and category page that is pretty standard. We have product cards listed with a summary of reviews, the actual review, and ratings for each product. Users can choose what they want to purchase and search within that product category. With the search functionality, users can find the items they’re looking for and explore the relevant product categories. We also have a product detail page where users can zoom in when they hover over the image. Users can see the features, and then at the bottom of the page, find multiple tabs with specifications and instruction manuals. Users can view and leave reviews, which are reflected instantaneously on the platform.

There are payment processing and checkout functionalities as well. Once users add products to their cart, they can view, apply for promotions, and provide their addresses and payment information. Stripe was used for that integration, and at the time, the order is placed, and users receive a confirmation email. Once the product is shipped, they receive another email with tracking information. Any time, users can chat with a customer service representative through the Zoho chat function.

With the blog, we can add articles with images and promotions. We write about the products and link them within the articles. Users can read the blog post and then view the referenced product. The same blog posts are used for our email marketing campaigns. All of this is also optimized for mobile with the same functionalities in a different UI.

What is the team composition?

During the project, I’ve been assigned a project manager and technical lead. We have someone in charge of web and mobile optimization, and a person who focuses on SEO and social media marketing that works independently of the team. There were between five or six developers that worked on the project during its lifecycle. There are WordPress developers, developers in charge of the payment and live chat integrations, and a few blogging experts.

How did you come to work with Brainvire Infotech Inc?

We ran through an expensive research phase. After that, we created a list of about 20 companies. Our team contacted about ten of the best and requested RFQs. We talked to the top five. After conversations with an analyst from Brainvire Infotech Inc and their CEO, I was able to speak with their management team. We felt comfortable with their expertise, relationship management with clients, and quote to move forward with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform is live, but we’re pushing out several changes and features that should be finished in a couple of weeks. Brainvire Infotech Inc performs extremely well, producing excellent results. Their team has been on time, delivering what we wanted coming into the project. We couldn’t be happier. It’s been a great experience, and I would use them for future projects.

How did Brainvire Infotech Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

For the most part, we communicate at least once a week. I talk with both the project manager and technical lead through email but mainly work with the project manager. The technical lead is always in the know about what’s going on and what needs attention at any point in time. We meet with the project manager and any relevant developers for that week. I share any concerns and changes, or any iteration I want them to execute. The scheduled meetings and consistent communication kept our teams on track. Their team was able to hear our thoughts and feedback weekly as opposed to waiting a longer period.

We used Skype and used screen sharing to share current developments. They used Jira a little to hear my comments on any changes they’re making, and then we also had Excel sheets to track progress. Any changes or recommendations I had were listed in the sheet, and I could follow what was done, scheduled, or in progress. They may have been using other tools internally, but I was satisfied with the sufficiency of the Excel sheet because it kept me up to date.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciated their communication and project management style. It differentiated Brainvire Infotech Inc from other similar providers. They excel in managing the product and their team, delivering high-quality results on time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

For this type of project, I don’t see any reason for improvement. Brainvire Infotech Inc delivered precisely what I wanted.

Ask for a lot of quotes because that gives you negotiating power and an understanding of the right market rate for the project you’re working on. Clients should also talk to their project manager in advance to develop an efficient working relationship.

Brainvire Infotech is designing and developing our application from scratch. We didn’t provide any documentation or sketches to their team, and they’ve completed all of the initial design work.

The team guided us through the payment gateway feature and showed us how the payment process would flow. They’ve also designed a digital wallet within the app that will let users manage payments. Brainvire Infotech is still working on the UI for the app, and it will eventually be available for download on iOS and Android devices.

We've been working with them since January 2019 and, although the site just went live in May, we continue to work with them to develop more features.

Brainvire has done an excellent job of understanding and executing our requirements. They ask the right questions before getting started on any phase of work, so it's always done by the next day. Other overseas vendors seem to experience more delays, waiting to ask questions after they get started on the work. 

How did Brainvire Infotech Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They're highly collaborative and relatively quick to turn around deliverables. We mostly communicate through Skype and track progress in Jira. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm very impressed they've been able to meet with us in person and show us some solid examples of different solutions from the start of the engagement. They've also been great at communicating and providing results.

Nothing yet.

Define project specifications as clearly as possible and meet with their team to flesh out requirements. I'd also suggest submitting questions to their team, because they're good about thoroughly responding to any uncertainties line by line.

From my perspective, the quality of their work was extremely high. The biggest challenges in the project were working together with both the client as well as the third-party vendor. The vendor’s mobility was limited, and their transparency and cooperation was questionable. Brainvire Infotech Inc was able to work through those issues alongside me. 

How did Brainvire Infotech Inc perform from a project management standpoint? 

We prepared quite a bit before the project started. We talked about how we'd use Jira so there were no issues in project management. It was a very organic project. Brainvire Infotech Inc did a good job handling the frequent requirement changes. I worked directly with their developer, which worked well. Given the differences in time zone (the client was in Florida and Brainvire Infotech Inc is in India), they were extremely cooperative. They were willing to be available in the middle of night in order to accommodate the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Brainvire Infotech Inc’s quality of work, availability, and level of effort were all excellent. More than anything, we appreciated their ability to dedicate a resource with a targeted skill set to our project. The developer didn't simply have the skill set on paper but was competent and communicated well. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

There’s nothing I can say based on this project’s specific technical requirements. I can't speak to a larger enterprise project, but I can't get knock them for anything.

This isn’t specific to Brainvire Infotech Inc, but the biggest challenge is expectation management. Take the time to flesh out the goal of your project, budget, timeline, and functional requirements before work begins.

We needed someone to develop our iOS and Android applications to enable users to rent scooters. Brainvire Infotech Inc is especially design-focused, which is the most critical aspect for the success of a new platform with a new app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our iOS and Android applications.

Before starting development, we iterated on the design thoroughly. We didn’t talk about development until my co-founders and I were happy with how the platform looked and felt for the consumer. We did some consumer research and showed the design to a few people and gathered their feedback, and Brainvire Infotech Inc was supportive and made edits and workflow changes based on the feedback we received from our potential customers. Once the design was finalized, we started our deep dive into development. We were able to do the iOS and Android applications in parallel.

We wanted to have minimum friction for new users to be onboarded onto the platform. We focused on the fluency of the registration, the login, and sign-up screens. We were able to achieve that by using a simple one-time passcode registration, which is common in India. 

The next challenge was to have the integration with the hardware. They were able to hit the ground running and connect with our hardware scooters and show their GPS location and movement on the app. 

They integrated Stripe for credit card processing. We also had a coupon integration so our early users could get discounts off the first few rides on the platform.

In addition to that, we also worked on a landing page for our platform, which is going to be on the website. Users can come and learn about our service and sign up for notifications.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was a lead business analyst. We had project managers who led the development from an execution perspective. We interfaced with a lot of different people on the team. 

How did you come to work with Brainvire Infotech Inc?

We did extensive research on Google, Clutch, and other review websites. We spent 4–5 weeks to find the right team using a methodical approach. We sent out RFPs to about 15 companies including Brainvire Infotech Inc. We shortlisted the top five companies based on their professionalism, pricing, and scoping of the project and interviewed their business development folks. We decided on two companies in the end and then chose Brainvire Infotech Inc. One of the major reasons we decided to go with them is because their CEO personally reached out to us to understand our project, to optimize our code, and to give background about his company and the kind of projects they had done before. That gave us a lot of confidence in them.

We worked together from February until November 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The way we designed and executed the onboarding process felt remarkably smooth, and we were happy with that. Their work with the hardware integration and implementation of the payment system was also fluent and smooth.

How did Brainvire Infotech Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

We received nothing but professional interactions from the team during the course of the project. There was a common project manager who was overseeing both projects. They were able to share learnings and insights across teams. Having this structure with the project manager was certainly useful. 

Any feedback that I gave to the project manager spilled down to both teams. The teams integrated my feedback into the app by the next week. It was fast turnaround time. We had weekly meetings with the project manager to monitor the progress and for me to give feedback on a weekly basis. We got quite close to what my expectations were.

They use an Excel sheet to track all the tasks that they outline during the scope of work. Then, they use that document to track if tasks are completed, partially completed, not done, or waiting for review. Every week, as they work on tasks, they update the spreadsheet and email it to me so I’m aware of their progress. On the backend, they also use a ticketing system where I could log bugs and any feedback I had on the status of the project.

There were four milestones. We paid 25% of the total amount at each milestone. I suggested adding a few milestones and dividing the payments up more, and they were flexible and modified the payment structure. Once they completed a milestone, they notified me and collected my feedback. Once both parties were in consensus that the milestone had been achieved, I made the payment.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to pull in appropriate resources to fulfill the requirements of the projects. I thought Brainvire Infotech Inc was only a development company, but they assisted me with design as well, which was great. They are a single vendor for the whole project so I don’t have to go anywhere else.

Be thorough and design your scope of work with the Brainvire Infotech Inc team intricately. At the beginning of the project, know all the tasks that need to be completed so that you have a good estimate of the time that’s required and the cost estimate.
