The measurables was to provide a product that could be used in house, as well as a go to market product. Our company, LyveChat, has been working with this organization for approximately one year. During that time, we invested roughly $750,000 USD and placed full trust in the services provided. Since the acquisition by Apadmi, we have experienced a noticeable decline in service quality, including missed timelines and significant project delays. We remain an active client, and the Droids team is currently working to remediate the outstanding issues. At this stage, it is difficult for us to confidently recommend the company, but we will continue to provide feedback as the situation progresses.

The team did deliver on time in the beginning, however in the second phase they failed deliver a reliable product on time with major issues, and are now working on fixing them

The first project manager, Aidan, was really good and understood the needs of the company. Once he was changed, and we had to progress without him, the team took their eye off the project. We beleive it was mostly through the transitions of ownership.

Better communication, a more seasoned project manager, have more realistic billings for the product that was delivered, know your client better, and meet deadlines.

Initially planned as native, the solution is now being developed using Flutter (cross-platform framework). The app will connect to the existing IBE (Internet Booking Engine) backend and provide users with an intuitive interface for flight booking and related travel services.

We’re very satisfied with their performance. The team is highly organized, agile, and follows Scrum methodology effectively.They’ve done a great job adapting to our evolving needs and the demanding requirements of our external client. Even though they essentially work as an extension of our team, they’ve shown strong ownership, clear communication, and flexibility throughout. Managing shifting priorities and tight timelines hasn’t been easy, but they’ve consistently delivered with professionalism and efficiency.

What I found most impressive about Droids On Roids was their blend of technical expertise and smooth communication. Their agile approach and transparency is making the entire collaboration seamless and efficient, which felt unique compared to other companies I've worked with.

By focusing on improved resource planning during discovery-phase estimation, Droids On Roids could further strengthen client trust and satisfaction. To be fair, considering the often-changing project requirements— better planning of resources and more accurate timeline estimates during the discovery phase would help set clearer expectations and improve on-time delivery.

We needed help with mobile app development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Droids On Roids has developed a weight loss mobile app for our client's use. We've worked together on the design, and they’ve provided us with the best practices for mobile apps in our business area. They’ve created the wireframes, and we’ve put our graphics on top of them. We’ve chosen the multi-platform framework React Native, so we’re handling both iOS and Android.

We’ve been iterating on the project through workshops. We’ve gathered all the experts from the business side, and they’ve had a team building the project. We’ve only had the idea and concept, and we didn’t know how to project them onto the proper tools. We’ve done workshops, and they’ve gotten the ideas out of our minds and put them on the boards. After that, when the workshops were done, and the concept was drawn on the boards, they started to build the project for development.

We’re still working with them and are about to launch the app. Next week, we’ll run the friends and family tests.

What is the team composition?

We’re working with a business analyst, a project manager, QA testers, and front- and backend developers. Some positions are only for a short period of time, like UI researchers, market researchers, and a teammate who has helped us handle legal matters with Apple.

We did some networking and had a shortlist of software houses we wanted to contact. We contacted each of them and decided to go with Droids On Roids. We chose them because they offered us a very wide services. They had coding skills and competencies, and they researched the target groups of the mobile app and how the UI should be done. They had the biggest understanding of the business.

We’ve spent around $1 million.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re about to launch the app, so the metrics aren’t relevant. Droids On Roids' work has met our expectations. Our team reviews the work in each iteration, and we review the code and the app’s features and functions every two weeks. The quality of the code is excellent. Moreover, when we've had issues, we've told Droids On Roids, and they've fixed them quickly and well.

How did Droids On Roids perform from a project management standpoint?

Like every IT project, the budget and timelines have some ups and downs. The project is huge and has taken almost a year to develop, so it’s tough to set all the forecasts perfectly. Droids On Roids has been flexible and has done everything they can to meet the expectations and deadlines. We’ve topped the budget, but we don't have any issues with that because they’ve tried to solve the problems with us to fit the budget and stay on the timeline.

For project management and communication, we’ve used Miro, Figma, and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Droids On Roids is flexible, and they try their best to meet the business goals. I feel they work for me and with me. They’re not just an external software house that makes the code, invoices me, and goes. I feel a deep connection with them and see their effort to solve the problems and meet our expectations.

I don’t have anything bad to say about them.

Don’t let the software house develop your project from end to end. Your business should also be involved in the project to see what’s happening and how the team understands the project. The bigger and more complex the project is, the more the team develops their understanding. When they give you the finished product, it can come out differently than you were thinking about or imagined.

There is certainly room for stronger support from project managers and product owners towards their partners, as well as a greater sense of ownership over their responsibilities.

This could potentially be addressed by hiring more experienced professionals for these roles or by investing in the development and growth of the current team members.

Our primary focus is on collaborating on an app related to sleep medicine. To ensure a good mobile app interface, we are working with DOR to develop an app that offers a good user experience, personal information security, and helps users understand their sleep patterns. Over the past six months of development, we have achieved many goals, including: 

1. Complete app architecture 
2. Integration of an AI image recognition model 
3. Integration of an audio analysis model 
4. Integration of medical-related surveys and content. 

Based on the main framework and content, we have seamlessly integrated these features to enhance the UX. Additionally, we have paid special attention to information security and medical disclaimers, allowing users to improve their awareness of their sleep conditions and gain more knowledge about improving sleep, thereby enhancing overall sleep hygiene education and increasing awareness of sleep-related disorders.

Every agile scrum meeting allows me to clearly grasp the current progress, and the TestFlight updates of the app also help me understand the current state of the product.

Yes, I think our app is much larger than anticipated. Additionally, the variability in resources and timing for our project's progress is quite high. This requires closer team collaboration to understand the direction of the project's product and to make timely adjustments to relevant decisions.

I believe everyone is very enthusiastic about this project, and each person's professional responsibilities are clearly defined. The agile development model is also thoroughly implemented. I really enjoy discussing our product with this group of colleagues. 

But due to the human resources from different regions, the cost of such project development is relatively high compared to our country or the Asian region. However, we really like this mode of collaboration, where everyone works together to solve problems and move in the same direction.

I think we collaborate quite enjoyably on the big picture, and we also have close discussions and communications about many details that need refinement. I believe there aren't any major issues.

Excellent project management by the Droids team. The Droids project managers divided the project into components and steps using a very thoughtful process. The Droids team prepared time and cost estimates that for the most part proved to be accurate. Throughout the period of the project, we met regularly to review progress and make revisions as needed, and the team was very responsive to my comments and evolving requirements.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

First thing that comes to mind is the high quality of the work produced by the Droids team. I was impressed by the quality of the work produced by all disciplines, including wireframing and design, conceptualization and description of features by business analysts, back-end and front-end development, and project management.

Another aspect I will highlight is the ease of working with the Droids team. They showed up to the meetings well prepared, there was transparency throughout the process, and they were responsive to my comments and requirements.

I can't think of anything material that I would have liked the Droids team to do differently. I communicated a number of minor improvements that I wanted to be implemented and the team was always responsive and implemented the improvements that I asked for (or convinced me that they were not needed).

We hired Droids On Roids to build a Flutter mobile app that would reduce time required for manual entry of show data (map locations, ads etc.) The product goal was to navigate and inform show participants throughout the event to maximize their experience without a need to buy a paperback version of the show informator.

We started our cooperation with the Droids On Roids team with a set of product discovery workshops during which we refined our applications’ vision, goals and metrics. We then created a product’s backlog, by mapping all essential functionalities in the form of user stories. We’re currently working in 2-week long sprints. Each sprint ends in a review during which we inspect the work done and gain access to a clickable prototype of the app’s latest version.

Everything about Droids On Roids is uncommon. It all starts with their ability to LISTEN and ask questions that elicit the needed information. They give feedback where feedback is needed, but they focus on designing the solution that’s in your head not theirs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Droids On Roids could have done differently?

The only thing I can even consider an obstacle is the time difference between Poland and the US. This makes the meetings window a little more difficult to navigate. With that said, there were days when their team was working into the night to accommodate our schedule and our customer schedule.
