The new website is also able to charge people more appropriately for shipping. We were losing $3,000 or $4,000 a month on shipping before we built the new site. Based on the last report I did, I would guess we’re at least breaking even on shipping now, which is good. I also shared with our owner the stats on the visitors and sessions, the number of orders and the number of items per an order. They fixed any bugs we found with an insane amount of technical expertise.

We’d do storyboarding, brainstorming, competitive benchmarking, and consumer flow diagramming to be sure we were on the right track. They performed very thoughtful research on our behalf in the area of consumer behavior which led directly to site design modifications. It was really good. Altsource management style was very easy to work with. Most of our simple communication is done through slack. When more detailed discussion is needed we get on the phone to discuss. For the main project and any updates and new features, we are always provided with a detailed scope of work that lists minimum and maximum hours each feature will require. Altsource has always proven to be truly interested in being a partner not just a vendor. They do an excellent job of learning what we need and then providing solutions to our needs. They don't always just jump on every little feature request but they help prioritize features to get the best end product even if it means reducing the scope of the project.

These guys were very transparent, very upfront, and understood us. I made it clear to them how I wanted to do business. I didn’t want to have to come back every time I needed something done, so I needed them to document how they’re building the product and how it’s set up so that we can do some of the general stuff ourselves. This leads to trust and more projects, and they’re 100% on board with that.

They made sure to get all the specs upfront so I wouldn’t get the constant big tricks in the industry such as, “Sure, we can do that. It’s $12,000. Do you want to add that? It’s another $3,000.” They were not like that. They were very thorough, upfront, and what they quoted was what they did the project for. In one project, they actually underestimated what it would cost. They told me that, but they kept their word and ate the additional cost overrun at their expense.
