5.0 Sep 5, 2019Once we got into a rhythm, it felt like we were one team. We were in different locations, but it really didn’t feel like they weren’t a part of our company. We have a really close relationship with them. We don’t normally do this with suppliers, but they are brought into client calls and allowed to lead them. Most of our clients and key stakeholders are in America, and we have stakeholders in Nigeria for this project. My team is in the UK, Cape Town, and Nigeria, and They are in India. We all have to meet very frequently, and they’ve been very accommodating. They’ve demonstrated great leadership, and really showed they have fantastic technical aptitude in explaining things to nontechnical people in a very nice way. The experience of working with them has been great. They’ve had to go over scope and budget, but they just stepped in and worked long hours whenever they needed to, and took responsibility. There are times when they need to explain technical items to me, and they do it in a way that’s completely not patronizing. They constantly handle client meetings, and they’re really good at explaining the pros and cons of solutions. We mainly use Slack to communicate, along with a bit of Basecamp and email. I have 1–2–hour Slack calls with them every morning. I can really rely on them, and that reliability is huge.
