We would have weekly/bi-weekly stand-ups with the project manager and main developer, who communicated with the team what we were looking to have done. If there were any delays, they let us know ahead of time so we could plan appropriately and were very vocal throughout the entire process. We communicated through email and if there was ever a misunderstanding they were willing to hop on a call almost immediately to sort through and come to an understanding so they could continue to crush out the development.
