Progress has included clearer technical documentation, more organized development workflows, active QA involvement, and improved visibility into infrastructure and monitoring needs. The engagement has also helped us move from short-term fixes toward a more sustainable long-term platform strategy.

For us, success is demonstrated by the project moving from discovery and assessment into active refactoring and redevelopment, with dedicated resources supporting frontend development, backend development, quality assurance, and project coordination.

One area that could be strengthened is end-user documentation and knowledge transfer. Simform has been very willing to provide live demonstrations and walkthroughs of the system, which have been helpful. However, for a platform that will ultimately be used and supported by a broader team, more detailed written documentation, recorded tutorials, or role-specific user guides would make onboarding and long-term adoption easier.

To be fair, some of this documentation will need to be developed internally because it depends on our organization's specific processes and workflows. Even so, additional reference materials from the development team could help bridge the gap between how the system was built and how end users will interact with it on a daily basis.

That said, whenever questions have arisen, the team has been responsive and willing to explain functionality and work through details with us.

I’m the product director of SmartBran, a SaaS startup. We’re building a repository to help with home health support and care, as well as a remote monitoring system.

We needed support from a technical perspective to build the backend and frontend of our internal platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Simform is designing our SaaS platform, which includes the frontend and backend. The team is using AWS for different use cases and our expansion. Simform is also brainstorming additional features and functionalities that we’ll have later on. We’re currently building our MVP platform and will expand from that.

Initially, we did the UX research and created the wireframes and workflows. We went back and forth with Simform to make adjustments and understand if what we were building was feasible. The team is now working on the development.

The platform has a login feature and a dashboard where users can see things from a high-end perspective. The platform is a repository, so there’s a lot of documentation and items that users can put in on a day-to-day basis. An admin or co-admin can take a quick glance at who is in the field and what documents are required. There are also notifications and forms for doctors, nurses, and specialty physicians.

Additionally, the platform helps manage visibility of cameras, sensors, and equipment. Users can see if the needs are being met and if anything is happening. We can have quick responses if an incident happens, and it can be documented in the system in real time and sent out to the proper individuals.

What is the team composition?

We work with front- and backend developers, UX support, a project manager, a tech lead, a business analyst, and a tester.

How did you come to work with Simform?

I did a lot of searching. My partner and I were looking at different opportunities. He put it in my lap to see what my suggestions were. I had done a lot of tech support and work before, so my initial thought was that it might be comfortable for him to have someone local. However, I was leaning towards a team in India.

I didn’t mind having conversations with the tech team early in the day, which gave us time to navigate and work. I found Simform through a Google search. I looked at their top-tier clients and what they could do. I also looked at their turnaround time, price point, and team involvement.

One of the major pieces for me was their connectivity and response time. They were very responsive, and we worked through Slack. I gave them access to Figma, and they were able to play around and look around. It made it easier to communicate and connect. Simform did a presentation for us and gave us an overview of what they’d done before. It gave us a lot more insight that they were the right ones for what we needed.

The quality of Simform’s work is top-tier. The team has given us great choices for the style guide and templates. Simform has implemented our logos, fonts, and color choices. The team is building not just the desktop and tablet functionality, but also mobile at the same time.

How did Simform perform from a project management standpoint?

Simform’s timeline and communication are top-tier. The team is flexible when changes or adjustments are needed. We work closely with the project manager, and we have a very good connection. We look forward to our meetings and calls because there’s never an issue. We always look for solutions and see both sides.

We’ve had a couple of ideation sessions, which have been extremely helpful. We’ve prioritized the forms and put them in categories. Simform has worked extremely well when it comes to prioritizing work. The team has helped us build a quality product.

We use Zoom calls, emails, and Google Docs to communicate. We can see the prioritization list, and we can check off things and collaborate.

Simform’s connectivity is impressive. The team is flexible and does what they say they’re going to do. The team communicates well, and they bring in individuals that really know what they’re talking about. Everyone on their team feels like a subject matter expert.

We hired Simform to build a custom SaaS platform for our company, covering both front-end and back-end development. We opted for a time-and-materials engagement model and worked with their team across several months, including project managers, developers, and QA engineers. E-commerce framework was partially developed, including cart logic and item rendering.
However, key features — including order management, user communications, and business-critical workflows — remained either non-functional, untested, or entirely absent by the end of our engagement.

Simform used basic project management tools and maintained regular communication through scheduled calls and emails. However, despite early signs of structure, the execution suffered from:

Missed Deadlines: Several key delivery milestones were missed, including multiple go-live dates and promised demos. Commitments to pause billing until delivery were not upheld.
Inconsistent Time Tracking: Time logs often lacked clarity, and Simform later acknowledged that developers sometimes forgot to switch tasks or stop timers — making it difficult to assess what work was actually performed.
Unclear Accountability: Our requests for clarification regarding billing, deliverables, and development status were frequently deflected or met with vague responses. We observed a pattern of shifting estimates and scope creep without clear written approvals.
One-sided Communication: When raising concerns, the focus of their team appeared to remain on requesting further payment rather than actively resolving the issues we surfaced.
Overall, project management was inconsistent, deadlines were not met, and responsiveness to critical concerns was inadequate.

In the early stages, Simform presented themselves as a highly capable software development firm with broad industry experience and a large team. However, as the project progressed, those initial impressions did not translate into long-term performance or accountability. While the onboarding process seemed professional, delivery and follow-through ultimately did not meet expectations.

Simform could significantly improve transparency in scope management, billing practices, and communication. There were repeated requests for clarification on hours and deliverables, but rather than providing clear documentation or resolving disputes, the response often defaulted to continued invoicing and requests for more payment.

Additionally, clearer expectations around deadlines and more accurate upfront project estimates would have helped avoid serious cost overruns and missed milestones. Most importantly, timely and honest responses to concerns—especially when issues are raised in good faith—are critical for maintaining client trust.
