the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of an in-touch care agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Inflecto Systems?
We needed a whole new system with a routed system to create individual invoices for our clients.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had multiple Teams meetings with Inflecto Systems. We went through everything we wanted, and then they put it together. They did everything step by step and built the two different platforms from scratch.
We’re currently trying to expand what we have, so we’re constantly building on it.
What is the team composition?
Ross (Technical Director) and Andy (UX Director) have run the project with me. Jack (Software Developer) has come and done certain things at various stages.
How did you come to work with Inflecto Systems?
I searched on Google for developers, and their website stood out to me. If you look on their team page, they have a picture of a dog — that just went with me.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about £70,000 (approximately $95,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We began our engagement in April 2021, and we’re still working together. It’ll be a long-term relationship.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We have 50 caregivers that log into the system and 20 staff members that use the other side, and we’ve only had good feedback.
How did Inflecto Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
We constantly communicate over emails and Team calls. At one point, we had a Team call at 10:00 p.m. with them. They’ve been fantastic.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They listen to what we need, supply everything as we say, and stick to our budget. I’ve emailed them on a Sunday, and they’ve responded just like that. Overall, they’re always there.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I honestly can’t say enough good things about them. They’re brilliant; I recommend them a lot.

Questionnaire Management System (QMS)
Quality Health is a Healthcare Commission approved national contractor and works for 360 Trusts throughout England on the National Patient and Staff Surveys. Their work covers Foundation Trusts, Acute Hospitals, Specialist Acute Trusts, PCTs, Mental Health Trusts, Ambulance Trusts, and SHAs - every part of the NHS.
Inflecto took over management of Quality Health’s systems in 2006. Soon after we developed integrations with an EMC Captiva Optical Mark Recognition system that allowed automatic recognition of scanned questionnaires.
Between 2006 and 2011 Quality Health grew rapidly. The types of questionnaires they needed to process changed significantly and the workload increased year on year.
Systems were struggling to cope with the vast amount of data being pushed through them along with the trend towards more complex survey requirements.
Inflecto designed and built a modular system because this would provide the required flexibility to handle both current and future survey programmes. The new system has core functionalities that can be enhanced, combined and extended by the end user via code extensions and workflows.
It also includes a Visual Studio Add-In that allows end users to create workflows in a drag and drop fashion and develop custom code plug-ins that change system functionality in key places. This feature lets the system process very different survey programmes.
The solution is comprised of over 10 sub-systems and was built using a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA). The sub-systems all work in concert with each other and key parts are built in such a way to allow for scaling out.
The system integrates with several key NHS systems such as the Demographics Batch Service (DBS) and the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSIC).
Over the years, our systems have processed millions upon millions of NHS questionnaires.

PROMs
Inflecto were contacted by Northgate in partnership with Quality Health after they won a large contract with the Department of Health to manage the Patient Reported Outcomes and Measures (PROMs) pilot.
Inflecto was the ideal partner to develop a solution since it had previously worked with Quality Health on similar systems and had relevant experience with NHS Patient questionnaires.
The project proved challenging because of the number of diverse systems and companies involved. This meant Inflecto had to work closely with several different divisions within Northgate, external suppliers and contractors simultaneously.
The system was developed as a web based .NET application and hosted in Northgate’s data centre.
The final system included components to:
- grant secure access to partner organisations based throughout the UK;
- allow the creation and administration of questionnaires;
- manage helpline calls from candidates and log these appropriately;
- perform data quality checks on, and data modification of questionnaires;
- act as an image archival system / data repository so questionnaires can be viewed and edited by operators to correct OCR and coding errors;
- allow early interception of errors at the scanning stage through secure web services.
The system was delivered in two phases with the final phase going live in August 2009.
The system now successfully manages high volumes of questionnaires. Every patient in the UK who has one of four surgical operations (general hernia, knee replacement, hip replacement or various vein surgeries) will receive two questionnaires managed and processed by the system.

Call Centre Management (U-WFM)
U-Source identified a need in the market for an affordable web based scheduling and forecasting system for call centres and needed a technical partner to create their vision.
Inflecto Systems built a hybrid cloud solution with a JavaScript rich web front end and a scheduling layer that could be scaled out using either on premise servers or AWS cloud instances.
The system includes:
- multi-tenanted cloud based system offering instant provision;
- simple call forecasting using historical call logs;
- basic API supporting call log imports and schedule downloads;
- advanced scheduling functionality based on a genetic algorithm;
- a powerful JavaScript rich web interface for viewing schedules;
- full holiday management, including the use of calendars to easily organise holidays;
- an agent portal allowing agents to manage their own leave.
- importing and exporting, to and from Excel;
- it was developed as a web based .NET application
The system is intuitive and easy to use. Even for those with little to no previous experience of workforce management systems.
The system launched globally in 2012. Inflecto managed the system on behalf of U-Source until 2015 when we handed it over to a third party to continue development.

Online Flow Cytometry Resource
Inflecto worked with Professor Graham Pockley from the University of Sheffield to make his online flow cytometry resource concept a reality. The concept involved creating a specialist online resource to help researchers plan experiments which analyse cells using a technique called flow cytometry.
Inflecto took the concept and created a website which simultaneously interrogates the product catalogues of multiple reagent suppliers and provides current information on reagent availability.
The website (www.chromocyte.com) has a section for designing experiments tailored to specific equipment available at the user's institution. It can also help the researcher identify the correct combination of antibodies, control reagents and companies that can provide these in an easy and intuitive interface.
There's also a portal to other online flow cytometry resources and a unique educational and interactive communication environment allowing researches to access training, share tips and troubleshoot online.
The project went live in July 2010 and Professor Graham Pockley won an award as Chromocyte was one of the most successful projects in the Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship scheme.
The website has a global profile and over 10,000 page views every month.
Since its launch, the website continues to evolve and regularly has visitors from top universities all over the world. Chromocyte has also gained many leading pharmaceutical companies as customers and provides them with a unique advertising opportunity.
In 2012, we added a feature that lets labs worldwide store their flow cytometry instrument configurations online and print off an accompanying poster with a barcode.
In 2019, we re-developed chromocyte using the latest technologies, optimised the way reagents are managed internally and ensured it responds well to any device.
In 2021, chromocyte.com and flowcytometryjobs.com were aquired by Compare Networks a biotech firm based in San Fransisco.

International Trade Tool
Resultz offer a range of services to help companies understand the complexities of international trade and provide training courses across the UK and Europe.
While providing these services the team at Resultz are inundated with questions regarding duty calculation, the risks associated with transporting overseas and the formal documentation required along the way.
Resultz required an online international trade tool to alleviate many of these questions and calculate and display the import duty and taxes for sending a specific product to a specific country. The system should also present related country information, incoterms information, required documentation and risk assessments. The aim was to create an intuitive system that could generate revenue for Resultz through a yearly subscription.
Part of the challenges faced was that each country calculated the duties in unique and often complex way. The team were provided with Excel spreadsheets with the duty calculations for each country and devised a web-based interface that could, like Excel, build up formulas and calculations that referenced each other.
Inflecto then developed a customer facing website driven by a simplified content management system which enables free trial and subscription users to calculate import duty in a clean and simple experience.
Further to this the team created a BOT and associated back end systems to monitor and train the BOT that can answer questions relating to trade that are provided in plain text via a chat interface on the website.
The International Trade Tool provides a one stop shop for companies requiring information on international trade.
It's UK launch was in 2021 and the platform already has thousands of subscribers.
We continue to work with Resultz to find more ways to simnplify international trade.

PDG Mission Manager
PDG provide a wide range of aviation services across a wide variety of sectors. Inflecto were approached by PDG to design and build a platform for managing and performing windfarm turbine inspections.
Inflecto designed and built a cloud-based management platform and a Windows based application called the “Mission Manager” that runs onboard the helicopter performing the survey. There is a web-based system for planning and configuring upcoming jobs and several cloud services that are utilised to further process the images and disseminate information to PDG’s customers.
Inflecto also worked closely with SHOTOVER systems to integrate with the airframes camera system. This integration allows the operator to choose a turbine and have the camera target it to assist in quickly locating the turbine and captures all inflight telemetry and associates this with the images and turbine blade currently being surveyed.
The system is currently in use by PDG. Inflecto and PDG are exploring expansion of the system and other possible uses of the technology developed.

Windfarm Operations Management (WF-OPS)
Inflecto were contacted by the E.ON to provide a tool for managing the teams responsible for maintenance of the Robin Rigg windfarm which is located in the Solway Firth.
The solution consists of two web portals. One portal is used by engineers to complete training and induction assessments required for site access and another portal is used to create teams and manage their transfer from the port over to the turbine and back. The system ensures that the workforce going offshore are suitably qualified and that their location within the windfarm is always known.
The system has been in use since 2019. Inflecto retained ownership of the software and is looking to extend the functionality further and bring other windfarms on to the platform.

Custom Workforce Mgmt Software for Electricity Generation Co
"Inflecto’s customer service is brilliant and a definite stand-out for us."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
RWE is an electricity generation company. I’m an operations manager and I work on a wind farm in the UK. I mostly look after our high-voltage network substations.
What challenge were you trying to address with Inflecto Systems?
Our wind turbines are offshore, so when we need to bring in new equipment we need to undergo a site induction. This means that we need to have certain certificates for offshore training and prepare manifests on a daily basis for the vessel master. These manifests must detail the destination, the names of everybody who’s on board, and the ID numbers of the inductees. We hired Inflecto to create a system that could tie all of this information together.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Inflecto created software that allows inductees to easily fulfill the requirements for site inductions. Through this system, inductees could watch corporate videos and go through different instructional modules or PowerPoint presentations to be able to answer the required questions. They could also create their profile, upload their training certificates, and provide their next-of-kin information on the system.
The software then uses that captured data to produce a daily transfer manifest, making it easier for us to log where the inductees go and have a better overview of day-to-day operations. The system is cloud-based and compatible with both web-based and mobile browsers.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with three people from Inflecto.
How did you come to work with Inflecto Systems?
We found them through a Google search. We sent out invitations to tender to different companies, but Inflecto’s submitted the best proposal. That’s how we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We initially budgeted £35,000 (approximately $47,000 USD) for the development, but with the add-ons, we ended up at £50,000 (approximately $68,000 USD). We now pay £500 (approximately $700 USD) per month for their ongoing technical support. All in all, we’re coming up to £75,000 (approximately $102,000 USD)
What is the status of this engagement?
We first engaged Inflecto in March 2018. They’ve completed development but we still work with them on monthly updates and maintenance.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We used to do the site induction manually, which cost us up to £40,000 (approximately $54,000 USD) a year. With this software developed by Inflecto, however, we’re now able to save up on costs and free up our engineers’ time. We no longer have to spend a lot of time educating people ourselves on how to file the paperwork; the system does that almost automatically.
How did Inflecto Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
We’re very satisfied with Inflecto’s work. Whenever we encounter problems with the software, we can expect them to respond and repair the issue really quickly. They deliver what they say they will on time. We typically communicate via email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Inflecto’s customer service is brilliant and a definite stand-out for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing that needs improvement. They’re one of the best companies we’ve worked with.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Just go for it and get in contact with Inflecto. They’ll definitely deliver to a high standard.

The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Founder and CEO of the online resource www.chromocyte.com which serves as an educational and training resource for individuals using a cell analysis technique called flow cytometry, and a Sales and Marketing platform for companies providing products and services in this and associated areas.
For what projects/services did your company hire Inflecto Systems, and what were your goals?
Inflecto was hired to develop a database management system to enable complex experiments to be designed according to the Users' needs and to host relevant promotional and educational material and a bespoke website which acted as an online Sales and Marketing platform for global suppliers in this field. Inflecto subsequently undertook a comprehensive update of this site after it had been successfully active for ~10 years, and also developed www.flowcytometryjobs.com, a website dedicated to the advertising of positions in flow cytometry.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We undertook an extensive search / evaluation of companies having experience in online database management systems and their integration into bespoke websites. Inflecto was the most responsive of these and following discussions it was apparent that their skills, expertise and engagement made Inflecto the obvious choice. Over the last 11 years, this has been proven to be an excellent decision, and I do not believe that Chromocyte would have been successful without the support of the team at Inflecto.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Chromocyte was a completely new concept which required the bespoke development of Database and Content Management interfaces and the integration of these into an engaging website. At all levels, Inflecto was professional.
They produced highly detailed proposals which provided a great basis on which to discuss the development of the resource and enabled changes to be made, as and when necessary. This large project was developed on time and to budget. The continuing management, evolution and periodic updates of the sites that were required were also delivered in a timely manner and on budget.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A Project Manager was appointed as point-of-contact, but all discussions included the whole team as required. Objective feedback was always available, supported by a level of engagement and flexibility which, quite frankly, was the best that one could imagine. The processes involved were exactly as stated on the Inflecto website.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
This global resource attracted Users for around the globe and became the 'go to' resource for individuals working in the field of flow cytometry around the world. The sites and other assets were acquired by a key US-based global player in online marketing in the Biosciences in November 2021.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The project management style was that of total engagement and flexibility and included a blend of face-to-face and remote meetings, as required.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their most impressive and unique attributes are high level of skills in design and development. They have always been highly responsive and have, without exception, acted in the most professional way that one could imagine. Their continuing support of the websites and the addressing of any issues that have arisen has also been quick, effective and high professional in nature. I would have no hesitation in engaging with this team again, and would highly recommend others to do the same.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
None

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the head of filming at a helicopter company that provides a range of services including, aerial survey, aerial crane, aerial filming, and passenger transports.
I am in charge of the filming for our TV and movie work, as well as developing camera systems and technology to provide solutions to our customers.
What challenge were you trying to address with Inflecto Systems?
We were looking for a company to do custom software development on one of our aerial camera systems. The software needed to be able to handle and store incoming data from the camera system and share it with our customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Inflecto Systems built a software solution that works with our aerial camera system that manages survey data about offshore wind turbines.
We provided Inflecto Systems with an overview of the project and the requirements we had for the software. The software needed to manage the entire surveying project, from the initial planning to surveying to the eventual data management. We needed to upload the data to a cloud server where we could securely share it with our customers. The software had to be quite simple; it had to run on a laptop, and our clients needed to click a few buttons and have the survey data downloaded to the program.
Inflecto Systems' team got to work and developed the software to our specifications. Because all of our data had to be secure since many of our clients are larger utilities companies, some cybersecurity measures were taken. The Inflecto Systems team developed a delivery method that was secure and fast.
Now, they perform some system maintenance for us.
What is the team composition?
I mainly work with Andrew (Director) and Ross (Managing Director), and there are some other Inflecto Systems teammates who work in the background.
How did you come to work with Inflecto Systems?
I had done a little bit of research and was looking for a company with the experience and interest in handling a project like ours. Our project was unique because we were working with a camera system, and finding a software company with experience in that was a challenge.
However, when I spoke to Andrew and Ross, I felt they were suitably equipped and experienced to do what we needed.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them in October 2018 and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The software Inflecto Systems built for us was labor- and time-saving. We struggled to gather the material and data without the software, which was labor-intensive and tiring for our aircraft and camera crews. The software has helped streamline all the communication in the aircraft between the pilot and the camera operator, who work closely together.
The system is also cost-saving and greener. When we're completing surveys quicker than before, we are saving money because we can charge clients less, and we're purchasing and using less fuel.
How did Inflecto Systems perform from a project management standpoint?
I had an initial phone call and an in-person meeting with Inflecto Systems, and now we mainly communicate over email, phone, and Zoom.
Inflecto Systems listens to every word we say, is patient with us, and has great ideas while being receptive to ours — they work very smoothly with us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I appreciate that they have an open-minded approach to problems — they always have a solution or a way to get around a problem. They're easygoing and full of enthusiasm.
Inflecto Systems really utilize their skills and experiences to develop solutions that best fit our project while still listening to what we want.
They're all too willing to help out, and even when we run into glitches, I can contact them at any time on any day and they'll do their best to get us back up and running again.
We've been very happy with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, Inflecto Systems has met my expectations.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Clients need to convey everything they are looking for in terms of software development and not worry about the technical side of the project. No matter how you present the ideas, Inflecto Systems can work and come up with a software solution.
