We have regular project calls and standing executive video calls. Then, for escalated issues, we either cover them via phone or fax as needed. There are also daily communications via email.

So, for example, if outsourcing the customer service function, be very clear who owns that internally and make sure your teams understand that it’s a partnership. It's now their responsibility; they are an extension of you. If there’s an area of concern, bring it up in a transparent and collaborative way.
