Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm CTO for MWeza Solutions Limited. We have several different ventures in different industries.

For what projects/services did your company hire Pettinsky?

This particular project was for a Restaurant business we had started, and were having trouble tracking sales, inventory, increasing efficiency in serving our clients, and generally having a handle on the operations and financials for the business. We needed to focus on building customer base and loyalty. So we engaged Pettinsky to provide an all-round solution to help us focus on our core business. Their POS solution was able to help us sort out the snags that were affected our productivity and visibility of our business operations and financials.

How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?

I have worked with the leaders of Pettinsky on other projects previously, and have proved to have the skills and resources, and the ability to mobilize whatever is needed to get a project done. That put them on my speed dial.

Describe the project in detail and walk through their service package.

Pettinsky sorted out our challenges by automating our processes such as recording and tracking sales and inventory, increasing our speed in serving customers, providing data collection and analysis capability to help us understand our clientele and their trends better, and many other benefits. They also addressed our need to be able to operate both online and offline, without losing any data, or having any issues when synchronizing. They have given us a full year of free maintenance and support. Whenever there are any changes and modifications to be made, they are able to translate our ‘end user’ needs into practicable implementations.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had the founders working with us (the CEO and CTO), both quite knowledgeable. They walked the journey with us on the user requirements, the installation and troubleshooting. For the development changes that came up as we encountered them, they were able to coordinate with their teams remotely to deliver the changes that we needed done.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

After the installation and commissioning, we have eliminated most opportunities for pilferage by ensuring that all transactions are done via the system, whether there is internet or not, allocate responsibilities/accountabilities better, increase the speed of serving our customers during peak traffic hours, and even been able to start doing deliveries. We are also embarking on using the data analysis to start an aggressive online campaign to drive sales a notch higher. Our staffs are also more motivated, because it is possible to attach numbers and measures to their productivity.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had status meetings every week during the development stage, and when the time for installation came, they prepared well and were able to finish the initial installation fast enough, despite a few technical challenges with our components and software compatibility issues. The procured the appropriate hardware needed for us affordably. Changes that required engaging programmers were handled quickly, even when they required multiple differently skilled resources working remotely. To date, their support is reasonably fast and personal.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The CEO and CTO are not just administrative titles, they know their stuff. They are proactive in giving us practical ideas to help solve our challenges and keep providing updates and versions that make our work even easier.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were some hiccups during installation because of our components incompatibility issues. It took some time to identify that it was our server that had technical issues, not their software. We had to replace it eventually. Perhaps next time, part of their due diligence should be to have the client’s end user components double-checked for both software and hardware suitability before installation.

We are a chain of hotels operating withing Kenya with 7 properties. I am the I.T manager of one of those properties which has about 300 staff and a capacity of 214 rooms

The first thing was to get the layout of the entire property, identify areas of interest and cabling routes, then we went on to assign each member a specific deliverable e.g, vendor management, equipment pre-checks etc

What was the team composition?

The I.T assistant was leading the team of 4. Any and every escalation would go through me, if need be.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Staff were trained and equipped with the necessary tools to handle issues on their own, the guest satisfaction index went from 72% to 83% in 4 months and average downtime percentage improved from 87% to 92% in 7 months

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

All work was coordinated through the I.T assistant and this made decision making easier. The project team had the necessary expertise to work on their own and needed less and less supervision

What did you find most impressive about this company?

How everyone knew what they were supposed to without the need to constantly check in

Time management was slow at the beginning and seemed to improve gradually towards the end
