Our engagement started with us speaking with a local representative. We had several meetings to organize the new look for the website — the project stalled due to the loss of a project manager. Many of us were writing to Xfive about our vision, which made the engagement cloudy and uncoordinated. During the summer, a faculty member stepped in, and everything moved forward.

In the beginning, we had a project manager who left the group. The faculty member worked directly with a developer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After a rocky period, results began moving into an optimistic direction. We received positive comments on the look of the site. All updates have been straightforward. Xfive continues providing maintenance support.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Progress went as we hoped, and we’re pleased with the results. We’re happy with the responsiveness of the developer and their quick turnaround for changes. Having a dedicated developer that took our input and needs into account was appreciated.

It was essential to have a responsive and skilled designer dedicated to us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We chose Xfive because of their previous engagements with the school, but we found that they had no templates for site development. This was surprising considering all of the academic sites shared standard info and topics. We thought the process would be quicker, thinking they had a basic layout. There should be on-site basic training if possible. There are some behind the scenes issues that aren’t straightforward. Their team takes care of that, but it would be nice if we had some knowledge.
