The scope of work included a step-by-step orientation and walk-through from securing the web site domain name, engaging a hosting service, choosing a template for the web site, having all of the plug-ins and add-ons added, and receiving a handoff email and video for me to customize the new web site and template with my own content and photos.

Just as I was worrying about how I was going to get a new web site developed for my new social sector consulting practice, I learned through LinkedIn about the opportunity to apply for free web site development support. The offer seemed to go to be true and I worried about whether it was a scam.

Now, with my new web site up and running, I am thrilled that I pursued the opportunity with The Free Web Site Guys. The process was seamless and painless, with clear and helpful guidance every step of the way. I now have a fully functional web site with all sorts of useful functionality, tools, and add-ons that I can customize and share with the world as I launch my new endeavor.

I needed a wordpress website to create new menus which are unavailable on shopify. The free website guys created the basic backend of my website and showed me how to customize my website so I can customize it to my needs.

I was looking for a cheap option to get a website developed and found the free website guys that offered the service for *free (need to sign up for bluehost with their signup link)

We communicated through e-mail and they explained me the steps they needed for me to do. Sometimes I couldn't answer right away so the waiting days became longer.

I had originally tried building a website on my own and was quickly overwhelmed. The Free Website Guys had reached out to me over LinkedIn, and at first I was skeptical. However, after speaking with the team and seeing the stellar reviews they have, I decided to give them a try! It was a relief to have this off my plate.

Most communication was done over email, but the entire process was described to me thoroughly and any questions I had were easily addressed. There was a series of videos sent to me at each critical step of the process to walk me through everything going on. At the end, I was also provided with additional resources to design and manage the website in the future!

I worked closely with one person, Sven, who is the Lead Developer. However, I know many other people were involved in building my website, but Sven was my point of contact throughout.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The biggest outcome is that I now have a functioning website! I had nothing prior to this and could not figure out all of the details needed to get one up and running on my own. Things like security features, website backups, google analytics, etc. were all handled by the team, and on my own I couldn't have even begun to work on those!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was as easy as it could possibly be. I was usually the main reason for delays as I occasionally put off responding due to my busy schedule. They never pressured me and were entirely flexible throughout the project! Any time I had a question I would get a response within 24 hours, and every major update was communicated thoroughly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was absolutely blown away by the ease of the whole process. It feels like my website built itself! I did not have to play a major role at all, which was a huge relief. It really took this huge task off my plate to the point where I didn't have to worry about it anymore, I was able to trust that it was being handled.

I think the process is amazing as is, especially for a service I was able to get for free. I wouldn't change a thing. They are doing truly fabulous work!

A Facebook associate made a post asking who needed a website. I reached out to them and she referred me to Sven; from The Free Website Guys

All communication was done via email; we kept one single thread. Bluehost was used as the domain hosting site and the site template was purchased from Devi. Screencastify was also used for more detailed visual communication. Google analytics were set up for the site as well.

The only person I spoke with directly was Sven; The lead developer.

I’ll be honest, when someone on Facebook reached out to me about getting a free website, I was skeptical. I decided to apply anyway and I am beyond grateful. Everything from the application process, to the completion of the website was extremely professional and well organized. The communication was clear and direct. Any directions that were given were simple to follow; and informative. I know many entrepreneurs whom I will surely refer. And I will be returning as a paid customer.

As previously stated, all communication was done in a single thread email. Most responses were within 24-72 ours, sometimes less.

I liked the quality of work and overall professionalism offered for free.  There were a few fees that were paid to third party companies but the work The Free Website Guys did was completely non-paid, yet that was not reflected in the process.
