The nature of the goals of the project were constantly growing and evolving, along with the company's exponential growth. This meant that the projects and tasks we gave him scaled with the company over the period we worked with him.

Given the period of time we employed Vivek for, and the number of projects he worked on, it would be hard to list them all here. These have included multiple integrations with third party softwares with Magento. Numerous bespoke Magento module customisations. Lots of general small but constant tweaks and changes to UI to improve UX.

The team composition we hired through Emizentech was solely Vivek, who we found capable of handling the majority of our front end work. He also performed some QA on his branches prior to any testing by ourselves and worked on anything we asked off him, while we did any further testing on pre-staging development platfrom.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our solutions were delivered regularly and often worked within tight deadlines. Vivek has proven reliable ROI, as customisations done have increased UX and allowed us to integrate software that has enabled us to give our customers a much improved overall customer journey.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was arranged through a combination of Emails, Asana, Slack and the occasional video call. Vivek proved himself dedicated to keeping in touch and to responding in a timely fashion.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Vivek's commitment to getting his branches tested and out and deployed. He worked tirelessly to resolve issues and if a problem was identified I was happy to trust him to go off and find a solution without having to be checked in with constantly.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is little I could suggest to improve on. At times there were limitations, such as delays in communication, but these were largely due to time differences. However when necessary he would work later than formally obliged to if needed, to ensure important projects got completed.

We use a software e-commerce platform called Magento 2 and needed to stabilize and further customize the store to meet the online growth and sales goals of the business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Previous to Emizen Tech Private Limited, we were using a different digital agency that worked really well for us, but we wanted to build a team that we could call our own. We started by getting one developer from Emizen Tech Private Limited to work with us full-time. The experience was so good that we decided to expand that team and ended up with three full-time developers.

We worked with them on both the front- and backend of Magento. They built us plugins, customized the store, and fixed bugs. We provided them with wireframes and designs, but they had a creative resource that provided us with designs—which we implemented—when needed.

They’ve made a huge impact on the site. We’ve grown as a business because of the positive changes to the website speed (increased the page speed by around 50%). They made the UX much better as well, which has helped us increase sales.

They have a project management resource but we don’t use it. They just provide their development skills. The work is always done within a reasonable amount of time. We communicate via video chat and Slack, and their communication is very good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have good technical skills and extensive knowledge of Magento 2, which is still a pretty new platform. Outside of that, they have good knowledge of different web technologies to solve different kinds of problems for growing businesses. The speed at which they work has been much faster than the other agencies we’ve worked with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their communication quality is really good, but we would prefer a lot more reactive communication in terms of getting updates as issues arrive. We do realize it’s difficult because we’re in different time zones. Also, they don’t have a dedicated tester on the team.

Have someone in-house that can dedicate a large amount of their time to keeping communication going with them.

Then they’re creating a separate shop based on the same Magento installation for EU customers. They optimize the sites for SEO purposes.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The website has been much improved in user-friendliness. Bugs and glitches were quickly resolved, and it is now stable and fast. I expect the new site to have a very positive impact on the business in the near term. Visitor numbers are already up and the bounce rate has dropped.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Virendra defines tasks as the necessity arises. Each task is completed swiftly.

Emizen Tech Private Limited offers great communication and availability around the clock to troubleshoot problems. Virendra is quite competent in Magento and all other aspects of IT that are needed to successfully implement my e-commerce project.

Project management by Emizen Tech was GREAT. I shared my ideas and they were able to find and customize the best solution. The communication was great and was mainly done via Freelancers.com's internal chat system and Skype.

I don´t think so. I have in the past hired many different companies from around the world, some with success, but also many that provided very poor results and service. Emizen Tech has provided the best results and service we have ever received.

I’m the CIO of a company that provides security solutions to the banking and retail industries. For retail, we provide EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) products (e.g., shop pedestals, security tags). For the banking industry, we provide plastic cash-handling bags with high-security features.

Our number one intention was to leverage their Magento expertise. Emizen Tech has made it easy to address any complications, advanced add-ons, changes, and structuring.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re using a template our marketing department chose as a guideline for customizing our Magento platform. The template itself has been customized and changed completely minus some basic elements. They’ve also built add-ons for accommodating the API of our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. We aren’t using them for our main website.

We had a Magento Enterprise license and used a different developer to build our Magento 1 website. Emizen Tech created a new custom site and imported data from the old one for our upgrade to Magento 2.

We also have internal web stores based on a custom script we created internally. Our clients can log in securely on those and purchase their own products. We have hundreds of these stores that are only available to people who know the web addresses. Clients can see the products we provide them along with custom pricing on their private web store.

We’re moving these stores one by one to Magento and will also have at least 50 other local stores restricted to public access.

What is the team composition?

I’ve always been in contact with the owner of the company and have gone to him for Magento and general consultation for the last 3 years. The company has grown quite a lot, and they can assign different people for each of our tasks. It depends on if the request is API- or template-related.

How did you come to work with Emizen Tech Private Limited?

I searched for top Magento developers and came across a site similar to Clutch where a lot of people were giving positive reviews on Emizen Tech’s owner. He was working as an independent developer at that time.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them three years ago on Magento 1 patches and changes.

We started the Magento 2 project in June 2017, but some uncertainties on our marketing team’s end caused its delay. We had two projects at once, including the main website where we were working with a different developer. We wanted to keep the same coloring and template across both sites.

We're planning to launch the new site at the end of February 2018 and have been building other restricted stores, two of which are ready. The collaboration is ongoing as we continue to add more stores and make changes.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The store is finished and we’ve assigned four or five people from our company to test it. They place orders, identify issues, and give us feedback. Everything has been positive so far. We do have description and pricing errors, but these aren’t Emizen Tech’s fault.

How did Emizen Tech Private Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re available for 16-18 hours per day. I’ve used other developers in the past where single questions or requests could take up to a week to solve. Emizen Tech responds the next day and the time zone difference has been an advantage.

Different members of their team have knowledge of what’s going on with projects across multiple areas. We communicate daily and have an internal project management tool called Podio where we post every task. We also use phone and Skype depending on the situation. They haven’t taken more than 48 hours for any task we’ve asked for.

The API work has been the only challenging part. We have an on-site ERP/API developer who has gone back-and-forth with Emizen Tech, thus requiring more testing and changes.

They’ve gotten everything I’ve requested from them right. I can just put a task on paper and explain to their team how I want a feature to work. They find a way of making anything we request work as long as it's within Magento’s restrictions. They customize anything, and if it doesn’t exist, they create an extension for it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very easy to work with and are willing to put in the extra effort to make something happen. I wish that every vendor worked like Emizen Tech. They haven’t misled us and have never distorted facts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They keep track of every task, but using a project management tool would be ideal. We have an internal tool, but they should also have one on their side for time and project management.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should make what you want clear before starting a software project in order to keep things from becoming unmanageable. Our project changed midway multiple times because of our own requirements. Software development never ends, so having a clear picture of what you need to get done in certain timeframes is a good idea. Take care of any subsequent changes after the project ends.

What challenge were you trying to address with Emizen Tech?

I was looking for a subcontractor to build my company’s website for me, as well as assist me in marketing it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built the website on WordPress, customizing it with PHP coding to reflect my vision. They also created the graphics and logos for the website and other marketing spaces like social media.

The site has two main functions. The first allows landlords and agents to register for a free account and create adverts for their properties. The second function allows homeseekers and tenants to advertise their home requirements for free on the website so landlords and agents can find them. The site will eventually function on a freemium model, where there will be a certain level of accessibility for free, and users will have to pay for enhanced services. 

We don’t intend to start marketing until March, when home seekers are gearing up to move in the warmer months, but when we do start marketing, I intend to subcontract an admin assistant from Emizen Tech. They’ll assist me with posting on social media, answering any technical support questions and help desk tickets, creating content, etc. I’ll also be working with them for future site development.

I primarily work with Virendra Sharma [eCommerce consultant and Magento certified developer, Emizen Tech]. I also work with Deependra Singh [web developer, Emizen Tech] to develop my site.

I found them on Freelancer.com. They had the skills that I needed and received a lot of positive feedback from previous customers, so I decided to work with them on a few smaller projects. They didn’t disappoint, so I decided to employ them directly to build my company’s website.

We began working together in December 2016. We finished the first stage of building the website, so they currently provide troubleshooting. We intend to continue working with them on marketing and subsequent stages of development for the site.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because I’m from an IT background, I tested their deliverables myself and evaluated them based on my own observations. I’m very patient with the pace, which was slower than they said it would be, so long as the work is high-quality, which it was — particularly for the price point.

Because the website is relatively new, we don’t have a lot external feedback, but everyone who’s seen the site thinks it’s brilliant and looks beautiful.

How did Emizen Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management could certainly use some work. I had to create my own system using Trello to keep track of their work.

That being said, I’ve really enjoyed working with Deependra. He’s brilliant and ensures my expectations are met. I rarely have to explain things more than once or twice to him. When we start development for the site again, I want to continue working with him. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Emizen Tech quickly sorts out any problems we have, often free of charge, to ensure I’m happy. For instance, Facebook changed the size of their group banners, so my banner no longer fit properly anymore. I reached out to Virendra via Skype to ask if Emizen’s graphic designer could fix the banner for us. They made the necessary changes and didn’t charge me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As I said, project management was a weak point for Emizen. When we first started working with them, they didn’t have a strong project management system in place, so things would get lost in the process. I’d ask for something to get done, and it would be forgotten. I then decided to create my own system using Trello, and things began running smoother. 

I’ve suggested that Emizen use project management tools like Prince2 and Scrum to ensure organization and clarity. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Something to bare in mind when working with them is there’s a bit of language barrier with them. English isn’t their first language, so there will be misunderstandings here and there, but that’s the price I’m willing to pay for their high quality, cost effective work.

I’m not a technical person, but I believe the site was built using Ruby on Rails. Emizen Tech also did some specific domain setups and other particulars. The project was split into frontend and backend. One person led the team on the backend, and we also were assigned someone for the design. I was only talking to a single person about and our ideas, and that individual relayed information to the people who were implementing.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We like to keep our specific numbers private, but you can see the activity on the website by recent uploads, which happen every day. The growth rate was pretty stable while we were rolling out new features. We had to stop for other reasons, but as we were implementing more and more stuff, We saw increases in commenting, liking, and uploading.

I would give them 100%. They took over the development completely after the idea stage. I had no problem with their management whatsoever. We had daily Skype calls where they showed me the progress, and I either approved it or sent it back.

I have a friend who is also working with them based on my recommendation, so I can speak about several projects. Their integrity is the most impressive trait. Often, when I had ideas that weren’t the best or that were expensive, they were upfront and told me which ideas would not be viable. They were transparent in setting costs and giving feedback. Not everyone is like that. A lot of developers will blindly follow your direction. I relied on their experience, as this was my first big user platform project. Their candor gave us considerable value.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Emizen Tech could have done differently?

If everything was cheaper, we’d all be happy, but I don’t think they’re the most expensive company. Rates depend on the market, and they can always go lower. I would prefer to have some people working in my office, but they did a good job in a remote capacity.
