I’m a marketing assistant for a cleaning solutions provider company. We deal in B2C and B2B and have a wide range of cleaning products. Our headquarters is in Germany, and I work in a regional office in Dubai.

We had an old website that we wanted to upgrade.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our website was an older version of Magento, and we wanted the upgraded it to Magento 2.6. Emizen Tech upgraded the website from scratch, handling both design and development; we gave them the UI/UX.

What is the team composition?

We had one point of contact, but it’s changed twice. There have been three developers, but right now there are only two.

The developer team has good knowledge. They just have to work on QC part, but everything is great.

How did you come to work with Emizen Tech?

We got quotations and proposals from different companies. We analyzed the quotations and proposals they shared, and then we finalized with Emizen Tech, as they were willing to deliver what we are looking for at a fair price.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $19,000 to date.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since February 2020. It's an active engagement, but some matters keep getting delayed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everything Emizen Tech delivered has been on time and great — it’s exactly what we’re looking for. COVID-19 was also the problem, but they still worked on our website and delivered this on time. They provide support and give suggestions that fit your needs.  

How did Emizen Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is good. We communicate via WhatsApp and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Emizen Tech delivers on the timelines we set. Sometimes they get lax, but that’s only a small issue that they need to work on. Everything else is fine. We’ve worked with other agencies but they don’t provide what we’re looking for. Emizen Tech listens to us, knows what we’re looking for, and delivers accordingly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work on quality control, as sometimes website-wide changes aren’t fully implemented. We’ll say that we want to change one word on every single page, but some pages don’t reflect the change; we have to go through to check whether it’s done or not. This back and forth costs time and money.  We’re still talking with them about how to solve this issue.

We give something to change, they do half, and then when we check it is not complete. They don't check properly. We have to do back & forth.

You’ll be happy if you work with Emizen Tech. Talk to them before giving them a project and make sure they understand what you want. Everything needs to be clear to both parties. Have everything written down. If they don’t deliver what they agree to, then you don’t have to pay.

Their project management style is very detailed oriented and they are using Trello for Project Management. They are using many tools like Figma, Trello, Redmine. They have a detailed process for each vertical.

Initially i was not happy with EmizenTech management but when i seen the progress and the project management I was surprised.

They had a project manager and QA assigned to my application who co-ordinates with my manager and staff and takes feedback after each milestone and there were some changes from the initial requirements for which they charged but the suggested the best.

eCommerce website with mobile applications for both Android and iPhone with a proper quote system & dynamic delivery dates. suppose if there is a bulk order or such sweet which is not common then we need some time to prepare and the timeline was the issue.

customer didn't get the proper updates for the order. so we need a solution from which Admin can upload the progress for the order and customer get notification in his account for the order like any status message like "your sweets order is now in production" with pics.

we had a good customer feedback and orders quantity was increased by 40% within 3 months. all the customer are really very happy by the mobile application update.

they used good management tool like JIRA & the project's code was managed into Bitbucket Repos. we had weekly Sprint Planning & Meeting in which the show progress and take feedback from my team. for meetings they used google meets and sometimes zoom.

The management was really good. Most of the developers have good experience. also they provide real user inputs and suggested good tools for that like newrelic.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I have only concern about the cost. but this is fine when you get the output.

What is the status of this engagement?

We were working on the first phase of the website and there were a lot of issues in the functioning, they fixed some of them.

And then the team told us they did not have the bandwidth to work on the project anymore and handed over a website which was incomplete and had issues.

We had to find a new agency to work on the website.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

Initial few weeks the team was responsive and work was moving as per timelines. We were supposed to take the first phase life and start working on additional features for the second phase.

But towards the end of phase one we found that proper testing wasn’t done and there were a lot of issues. We had to keep following up constantly to get them fixed.

They did not inform us on time that they did not have enough resources to work on our project; timelines would just keep getting extended. If they had then we would have been in a better position to figure out a better alternative.

So after spending weeks trying to get the issues fixed and planning for phase two when they informed us that they wouldn’t be able to work on the project anymore, we were left with a website where a lot of core features were not functioning properly.

How did Emizen Tech address the challenges that arose?

While the team was unable to sort out our issue, the conduct of some of the team leads was highly disappointing and unprofessional. The team lead dismissed our requests to get on a call in a very unprofessional manner and also did not provide any constructive solutions.

Even when we just wanted them to properly hand over the website so we could go get it fixed somewhere else, they caused unnecessary delays by not responding to our requests.

Their conduct not only made us lose out on a lot of time and money, but we ended up with a website that didn’t even function.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

A project that was supposed to be completed in 5 weeks was delivered after almost 3 months. Timelines were not met and due to that we were not able to launch as per our plan.

The project was extended beyond the initial estimated hours so we had to increase the budget of the website once we were halfway through.

Even when we took the website live there were errors in the functioning due to which we couldn’t start operations.

As an e-commerce portal our website is the most important part of our business and without that we lost a lot of business and also ended up spending a lot more on this project than we had estimated; first with the delays in the launch date, then fixing the issues and once the team left this project midway hiring a new company so they could fix it.

How was project management handled?

When we started the project the team was able to help us plan out all the features that we wanted. 

When we started testing the website and issues started coming up they were not able to manage timelines and customer expectations properly. Communication was a challenge.

When the project kept getting delayed without clarity on timelines we had to escalate the issue multiple times before getting a proper response, post that they informed us that they wouldn’t be continuing with the project.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

The team that worked on the project showed a lot of promise and were helpful, but in spite of that, the website that was handed over to us had a lot of issues and they did not complete the project.

In what specific areas can they improve?

•    they need to be more honest with clients, and inform them about issues on time instead of misleading/ ignoring the customer.
•    they need to be able to estimate the project timelines and cost better instead of extending timelines once a project has started.
•    they should not take up projects if they don’t have the bandwidth and if they have taken it up then they need to see it till completion and not abandon it midway.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

They seem to have great ratings and reviews, but our experience was not good. They did not complete the project and there were issues in what they delivered.

You don't need to keep following up with them to get work done. They finish tasks on a timely manner and encourage you to go and check it so you can let them know right away if it works properly or requires any more changes.

Our site went live almost seamlessly from the old platform to the new, and Emizen Tech has stayed at hand to help with upgrades and add-ons to keep our site running smoothly

After launch our pages were loading at over twice the speed of our old site, which lead to an increase in our SEO visibility of over 20%, and we had a similar increase in our web site conversion rate.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Emizen Tech designed an iOS app and its graphics. The app enables users to create accounts and scan vaccine bar codes, which then generate a QR code for the vaccinated individual. Emizen Tech also created a scanning feature that allows businesses to read those QR codes.

I just hired Emizen Tech to build the app for demonstration purposes. It’s not yet in the App Store.
