**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a former Communications Advisor for the Seaspan Shipyards Corporate Affairs Department. Seaspan Shipyards is a shipbuilding company with locations in North Vancouver and Victoria, BC.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ballistic Arts, and what were your goals?

Seaspan Shipyards was awarded a multi-billion-dollar federal federal government package to build non-combat ships on the North Shore. at the time Canada hadn't built new ships in more than 30 years. It wasn't always smooth sailing since the national shipbuilding strategy got underway at Seaspan. Ballastic Arts was hired as our external videography agency and was instrumental in helping the company clearly demonstrate the benefits of she shipbuilding program.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We considered and interviewed several videography companies. Ballistic Arts was selected because of their ability to create effective and engaging live action videos from script to concept, their ability to capture compelling interviews and drone footage, their extensive client experience and their excellent client service.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

I was the main point of contact with Ballistic Arts for several years on a range of projects. We often started with an initial kick-off meeting and the tam worked closely with us to understand the objectives of the video and helped us create scripts, storyboards, interview questions etc.

I was in contact with the team daily and they were highly-responsive to our evolving needs, were able to meet extremely tight deadlines and were able to ensure the project workflow was organized and consistent while remaining nimble and efficient. The team delivered many different videos ranging from long-form videos to shorter social media videos and corresponding social media posts.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked closely with an account manager, camera operators, video producers, editors, social media specialists, drone operators, photographers and others as needed. The feedback process was seamless. Myself and others provided feedback via video feedback software. The team was quick to turn around edits and always had a positive and professional attitude when interacting with me. I always looked forward to working with the BA team and they were seamlessly integrated into our team and could be relied upon to delivery, regardless of the project size or scope.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the time that we began working with Ballastic Arts, videography was relatively new to Seaspan Shipyards and proved to be an extremely helpful way to convey important information about a complex government shipbuilding program to key stakeholders. Videos were shared at tradeshows, with prospective and current clients, with the public, with employees and across a variety of social media platforms.

The videos helped to generate an understanding for the economic benefits to the Canadian economic from shipbuilding and increased on-line engagement. We consistently received positive feedback from viewers about the style and professional look and feel of the videos.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Our account manager was consistent and professional and easy to communicate with. They ensured that project timelines were realistic and that projects were completed within the set timeframe. If there was a scheduling issue or any other matters that needed to be discussed they would bring this to our attention without delay. We mostly spoke over the phone and email ad the team was always receptive when we reached out, even if they were working remotely.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team understood our company and our brand and the key challenges that we were working to address with our communications strategy. They also fit in seamlessly to our team and were professional and consistent. The team was creative and brought new ideas to the table, had a keen eye for detail, and also understand how to walk the fine line between grabbing attention while still ensuring the videos had a consistent look and feel in alignment with our overall corporate brand and communications strategy.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The team was extremely accommodating and provided excellent client service and polished, professional products. Don't be afraid to push back or tell your clients when you see opportunities for new ways of doing things so we they can continue to push the envelop.

Our website had been created over 8 years ago. There were multiple issues on the back-end; we could not leverage key reporting tools like Google Analytics; web links were broken; we had a significant volume of custom content that needed to be maintained and we had some custom programming we wanted implemented.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have had a 15 year relationship with Ballistic working on a variety of projects at several stages, roles, and employers in my career. For this project, I empowered someone else on my team to evaluate options and make a decision. Without influence, they chose Ballistic.

A key element of the project was developing a custom programmed element on our website for clients and prospects to obtain industry benchmarking data with an auto-populated and auto-emailed report. Ballistic was incredibly helpful in bringing our ideas to life.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had weekly check-ins wit their project manager so that we could ensure progress reviews and updates were meeting our desired milestones.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The responsiveness of Ballistic is by far the fastest of any partner I have worked with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Ballistic is a highly skilled team. I think their clients would benefit from the BA team making recommendations for enhancements or improvements throughout the project based on their expertise.

CFO, Chris Hadfield Inc

**The Review** — Dec 8, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Ballistic Arts' efforts, the client is delighted with the newly built campaigns and confident to receive quality results. The team has gone the extra mile and utilized teamwork to ensure the project's success. Their problem-solving skills have stood out in the partnership.
""They provide excellent quality work that is both creative and professional.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the Chief Financial Officer at Chris Hadfield Inc and oversee the financial operations of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ballistic Arts, and what were your goals?

We were preparing for the release of Chris Hadfield's book The Apollo Murders and wanted to specifically target consumers in the USA with digital ads. Ballistics Arts designed and implemented the ongoing campaign. Our goal was to ensure a successful release of the book which Ballistic Arts helped us achieve.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Ballistic Arts and what were the deciding factors?

We considered several vendors from whom we solicited proposals, Ballistic Arts provided the best value and most well-rounded campaign that would include fast and efficient revisions on an ongoing basis based on the most successful marketing channels.

A major deciding factor was also the brand profiles Ballistic Arts builds that helps you better conceptualize your target audience.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.

We went through an initial phase of briefing Ballistic Arts on Chris Hadfield's brand and providing them with background information on our previous book release campaigns. We discussed initial target cities we felt would be good places to focus and provided a broad overview of our ideas and goals for the campaign.

Ballistic Arts then produced a comprehensive proposal that included specific pricing on their services and recommended advertising spend allocations at various levels. This allowed us to determine the best cost vs anticipated value.

Once we agreed on the proposal we were provided a timeline on key deliverables and an accompanying schedule of items required from our team. Once implemented BA has provided on going insights and formal reporting that's allowed us to see the impact the campaign is making and to support informed decisions on mid-campaign changes (i.e increasing budget on Facebook vs Twitter ads).

How many resources from thBallistic Arts team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with a number of people from BA. We have a dedicated account manager who's our lead contact, we've worked with their owner and CEO throughout the process, a website architect/developer, social media advertisers, and a couple of different administrative coordinators.

The single point of contact made our interactions easy and allowed us to develop a close professional relationship with BA while still always being able to recognize that they were being supported by a team of people dedicated to making our campaign successful.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The campaign has been extremely successful. We've been very happy with our first-week and subsequent sales in the US and are anticipating great results through the holiday shopping season.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

This has been an area BA has really exceeded our expectations. As previously mentioned, despite being supported on their side by a team of people all our communication and interactions have been via our account manager.

Regardless of our inquiry or idea, she's been able to quickly and efficiently work internally with her team and come back to us with an answer/action in short order.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think it's their ability to provide comprehensive solutions and added value. We would have not recognized the impact the changes to our website could make in augmenting the campaign's success and overlooked it.

From the outset, BA was able to propose - and later execute - informed choices that helped drive sales. They provide excellent quality work that is both creative and professional.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think the only area for improvement actually comes from our end. In retrospect we should have started our campaign planning earlier which would have allowed more time to prep ads and make changes to the website but despite this, BA delivered on their proposal and timeline.

Director of Communications & Marketing, Egg Farm Regulator
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Online Review

**The Review** — Oct 16, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to the efforts of the Ballistic Arts team, the company received positive feedback regarding the new design and ease of navigation of the new website almost as soon as it went live. The traffic on certain pages began increasing significantly as they were now much easier for people to find.
""They offered solutions to our problems and were able to explain things in plain English."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Director of Communications and Marketing for a regulatory body for all commercial egg farms in British Columbia. We have a small team of 13 employees and look after 144 family owned farms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ballistic Arts?

The public and farmer-facing websites had been created many years before I started and had only been periodically updated since. They no longer met our needs as a transparent farming organization and were very difficult to navigate.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to make more content available for the public and make that content easier to find (the old website didn't even have a search function). For the farmer website, we needed to create categories of information that made sense and allowed farmers to easily find the info they needed.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Ballistic Arts?

I had worked with Ballistic Arts in the past on other projects (photography, video production) and at a past job had them redesign a website. I knew the team was skilled and easy to work with so, while I did ask other companies for a quote, it was an easy decision to go with Ballistic Arts.

Describe the project in detail.

We had a number of meetings with the Ballistic Arts team to discuss our needs, our brand, various platforms, etc. Ballistic Arts set our milestones and check in points in the contract that they adhered to and we were able to chat with the team at anytime.

What was the team composition?

We had an account manager who was our main point of contact; however, we also spoke with the people responsible graphics and programing as the need arose.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

When our websites launched, we had immediate positive response to both the design and the improved navigation.

On the public site, we saw an immediate increase on our recipe pages (a key hook to bring the public to our site) as they could now actually find a recipe they were looking for.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Ballistic Arts was easy to communicate with. Any questions were answered promptly and meetings were efficient.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Everyone assigned to work on our redesign was extremely knowledgeable. They offered solutions to our problems and were able to explain things in plain English.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There were some changes in personnel but I understand that people leave and it's not always possible for a company to predict these things.

The workflow was everchanging due to the pandemic, but the team was able to identify solutions to keep them on track. Their communication and passion are the main drivers of their success.
""We believe Ballistic Arts has a very successful future ahead."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I held the position of Director of Communications at a nonprofit from February 2020 - August 2020. The nonprofit aims to unlock the potential of innovative Canadian enterprises by bringing together leading organizations to develop solutions for some of our biggest global problems. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, we are one of five Superclusters across Canada, funded by the Government of Canada’s Innovation Supercluster Initiative via the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED).

Bringing together small medium enterprises, multi-national organizations, large companies, research organizations and post-secondary institutions, we provide co-investment to selected, collaborative digital technology projects that will transform our local industries, fuel economic opportunities and position Canada as a leader in digital innovation.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ballistic Arts?

I was first introduced to Ted, through his leadership role at the BC Business Council. I hired Ballistic Arts to support the delivery of the organization's first Digital Annual Report. Ted was instrumental in developing the vision for this digital asset to serve not only the organization's regulatory requirements but also as a marketing piece to support the progress and vision of the organizations.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals for this project included:

Meet regulatory compliance.
Support the momentum gained in the organization's first year of operations.
Highlight how the organization's ability to pivot quickly, marshaling the drive, expertise, and collaborative innovation to support Team Canada address issues and opportunities related to COVID-19.
Visually demonstrate the innovative solutions developed to clearly articulate the impact and value of the organization.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Ballistic Arts?

The decision to move forward with Ballistic Arts was a no brainer. Ted's professionalism and passionate dedication through his work at BC Business Council and Ballistic Arts to grow early-stage Canadian companies aligned well with the organization's goal to work to position Canada as a global hub for digital innovation.

Describe the project in detail.

The scope of this project was to digitize the nonprofit's 2019-2020 Annual Report inclusive of key regulatory compliance elements, financials, and impact stories from our Members.

What was the team composition?

The Ballistic Arts team was led by a seasoned Project Manager who helped guide the end results despite several timeline delays due to COVID-19.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

A key success factor in delivering this project was the trust, perseverance, and ability to pivot. Ted and the team at Ballistic were a driver in achieving our digital vision.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow changed weekly, and there were inescapable road blocks due to conflicting priorities due to the current environment. But, as mentioned before the distinguishing factor and solution-oriented guidance was what fuelled our collaboration and final product.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They sat co-pilot in our nonprofit's communication strategy and efforts to drive Canada forward. See: http://annualreport.digitalsupercluster.ca/

Most notably:

Ted's ability to see the bigger picture.
Their passion for doing things differently and challenging the client to push boundaries and walk the digital walk.
Are there any areas for improvement?

No one's perfect, but if there was one thing I personally strive to improve on is the ability to say no. I know historically "the client is always right" but if the vendor is the SME - BE the SME - and continue to lead and to champion your creative thinking and digital marketing expertise. It's a fine balance and I believe Ballistic Arts has a very successful future ahead.

Maison D’etre is an award-winning renovation company in Vancouver. They were looking to find new customers by improving their online digital marketing efforts.
As gaining awareness was their initial goal, we decided to create a video campaign to highlight the services maison d'etre provides. Shortly after we began working on the top-of-the-funnel goal of gaining awareness. We promoted the company's videos and developed creative ideas for social media. People began engaging with the content we produced and it helped in building conversation around the maison brand.
After successfully building awareness of the maison d’etre Brand, we repurposed the data we gained to set up ads that are focused on converting interested parties into qualified leads.
Through constant testing and A/B optimization, we identified a tactic to further decrease our price per lead. After implementing our strategy and gathering valuable data from previous campaigns, we started to drive down the cost per lead. As a result, we surpassed the client's initial goals, as we continued to source relevant leads for the company.

By doing preliminary research, discussing current trends with Greenscape, and making frequent adjustments to optimize and remove keywords we were able to effectively find high quality leads.
Ballistic Arts partnered with them in 2021 to assist with acquiring new leads and optimize their website for the user.
Our efforts helped expand the companies market to become Canada-wide, as opposed to just being dominant in the Metro Vancouver area.

### Christopher Tyler Nickel Lead Generation
Christopher Tyler Nickel is a world-class music composer who has worked with some of the biggest companies in entertainment. His objective was to generate at least five conversions per month for the rental and purchase of sheet music and recordings via his website, which would simultaneously generate residual royalties. Five conversations per month is a conservative estimate. But being new to digital marketing and lead generation, Christopher set very attainable goals.
In order to achieve his goals, our digital media managers utilized Google ads, Meta Facebook video ads, and a YouTube campaign. This does not mean we simply created some ads and let them run, but required strategic, daily management, tracking, reporting, and adjustment to increase SEM and SEO results. Both of these included significant SEO work before the ads went live. For each client, we spend significant time researching not only the particular target market but local and industry-specific SEO terms to stay ahead of the competition.

### Building a Website for Composers & Musicians
Recently, Christopher has worked on an original musical called “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, which is based on the “Captain Nemo” novel by Jules Verne. This musical is one of his most important pieces of work to date and therefore, needed a site to showcase.
Our web development team built a one-page website as a space for Christopher to tell his story about this musical. The idea was to create something that would allow the users to feel part of the story that Christopher was telling.

### Seymour Village Parallax Website Design
Seymour Village is their newest master-planned community which includes 49 contemporary townhomes on Vancouver’s beautiful North Shore. Each townhouse features modern interiors, luxurious bathrooms and gourmet kitchens. The neighbourhood enjoys direct access to nature and urban amenities, and the community is only 20 minutes away from downtown Vancouver.
The Ballistic Arts web design and development crew created a beautiful website that expresses the warmth and charm of Seymour Village and its surrounding areas.
Because the master-planned community was built on land that belongs to the people of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, we thought a script overlay in their local Coast Salish language would be appropriate. The website conveys pure North Shore living by utilizing a color scheme that’s inspired by earth, water, and sky. To us, the best part about this site is the large moving images of Seymour Village’s encompassing old growth forests, beaches and mountains.

The music and narrator were also stylized like a documentary. In addition, we added shaky camera movement to the animation and a camera viewfinder to make the video feel like a nature documentary.

### Rebuilding Prism Engineering Website
Prism Engineering’s previous website struggled with technical debt and didn’t showcase highlight-worthy features the company offers - an abundance of brilliant resources. This resulted in missed opportunities for potential collaborations with big-name companies. It was clear that their tech debt was the main reason for poor lead generation and an outdated website.
The goal was to revamp Prism’s website into a well-designed and user-friendly platform to help attract sales and retain leads - and our web optimizations did not disappoint. To avoid presenting their website purely as an informational platform, our updates highlighted the tools and resources they provide that electrical and lighting companies could utilize.

The Ballistic Arts Web Development team thus created and deployed a Headless CMS aimed at dramatically increasing performance to deliver information more seamlessly.
The website was reorganized so that the user experience became more intuitive and information was easier and quicker to find. The trip calculator was reimagined to be more visual and user-friendly. The car map was also reinvigorated to not only work as a general search but also as a tool that showed Modo's presence in the community with various Condos with vehicles readily available. ### Becoming a Best Selling Novel in 3 Months
We were approached by Canadian hero and astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield’s team with a challenge to support the promotion of his very first novel, The Apollo Murders, for the US market.
To help guide the audience on to their preferred retailer when purchasing the book, our Web and UI/UX department developed a new landing page dedicated to The Apollo Murders. It was important to highlight the most popular retailers, while also making sure that the user experience was seamless, and that the design matched the book's branding.
We tested ads for several platforms and concluded that Facebook ads performed best, not only for conversions but as well as for cost per result.

Once we decided on the platform of focus, it was then time to run some tests: different visuals, ad formats, copy, location and interest targeting were tested against each other to find the most efficient way to reach potential readers at the lowest possible ad spend.
After a 3-month Campaign, our results were much more than just the 8,000+ copies sold on presale, or the 5,387 total checkouts initiated from ads - not humble bragging, these are INCREDIBLE results, but the recognition and free promotion received from the book retailers is even better:

The Apollo Murders entered the Best Seller lists for Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and The Globe and Mail.

### Supporting Lux Insights to Boost Lead Generation

Lux Insights is a high-touch, boutique market research agency based in Vancouver and Seattle. They offer efficient B2B and B2C research, transforming their findings into actionable insights that clients can use with confidence.
The Problem
Lux Insights established a strong reputation through traditional sales channels, but as they sought to expand, digital marketing emerged as a priority. However, their campaigns weren’t attracting the high-quality leads needed to support long-term business growth.
Despite generating traffic and inquiries, most prospects weren’t aligned with their ideal client profile. Some of the most urgent issues they encountered included:

High volume of leads, but low conversion quality
Inconsistent lead fit with their target B2B audience
Lack of a data-driven framework for online campaigns
Difficulty filtering out unqualified prospects early in the funnel
Wasted time and internal resources managing poor-quality inquiries

The Solution
Ballistic Arts offered Web Development | PPC & Digital Ads | Third-Party Website Ads
Lux Insights collaborated with Ballistic Arts to transition the business from a traditional sales approach to a digital lead generation model, aiming to improve the quality of generated leads.
Our approach focused on aligning their online presence with their value as a premium market research firm.
We began by revamping their website to communicate their offerings and value, ensuring it was both visually compelling and SEO-optimized. We simultaneously launched geo-targeted Google Ads campaigns designed to reach the right businesses in key growth regions.
Finally, to build trust and enhance credibility within the competitive B2B space, we also helped Lux strategically bolster their Clutch profile. This included encouraging satisfied clients to leave verified reviews, turning third-party validation into a core conversion tool.

### Scaling Okanagan College’s Enrollment
Okanagan College is a respected institution in British Columbia, focused on delivering hands-on, career-focused education that prepares students to transition quickly into the workforce. With campuses across the Okanagan region, the college offers a diverse range of programs, from trades and technology to business and health sciences. All of its programs are designed to meet evolving industry needs and support community development.
The Problem
In 2024, Okanagan College wanted to improve its marketing efforts to become the leading career-focused post-secondary institution in BC.
To support this goal, Okanagan College needed to improve how it attracted, tracked, and converted prospective students, particularly at the bottom of the funnel. However, key tracking limitations posed a challenge.
In addition, the college needed to remain agile with program priorities. As internal recruitment needs and course availability shifted throughout the year, marketing efforts had to adapt quickly. This required a campaign structure that could keep pace with evolving goals and changing program focus.
The Solution
Ballistic Arts offered Lead Generation | PPC & Digital Ads | Content Production – Lead Magnets
Because enrollment needs shift constantly, we tailored campaigns to specific programs. Each had its campaign, allowing us to adjust focus throughout the year as course availability, deadlines, or priorities changed. This flexible approach enabled the team to adjust spending, modify messaging, or swap assets quickly, all without impacting overall performance.
To bridge the tracking gap, we implemented a custom approach using unique button formats on the website that carried UTM parameters across Google Analytics 4 (GA4) entities. This allowed us to accurately track lower-funnel actions, such as clicks on “Apply Now,” “Book with a Recruiter,” or “Call” buttons. We were able to get strong visibility into performance, even without access to the application platform itself.

### Geoscience BC Web Design & Development

We created a website that would extend Geoscience BC brand and establish them as a leader in earth science research. Communicating what Geosciences represents was our team's mission. Geoscience BC brand colours played a key roll in the hierarchy and organization of the design, and the use of modern line art illustrations tied visual representations to data information. Furthermore, the added topographic map graphic connects the design to the environment and creates a seamless User Experience.
