What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to outsource the production of this video as we lack the in-house team. We also wanted to make with an agency that would have strong project management capabilities to ensure that the not too much of our team's time would be required during the production.

Video description: A character is shown trying alternative solutions to our product and finds that the solution we offer is the 'funnest' and allows them to reach their goals.

Process: We worked with an PM that provided us with tools to properly review and leave feedback on the content. They provided us with a script, then a story board then finally with iterations of the final version of the video until we were satisfied.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We found the PM very professional and always answered our emails in a timely fashion. They were helpful in communicating our needs to their designers and always asked for our confirmation before moving on to the next phases.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have just launched the videos and will have to review results in the coming weeks.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. No time wasted, no need to repeat steps.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The professional project management during the video's production.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We thought that some of the storyboard sketches sent had mistakes, which our team didn't want to see in the final video. We weren't certain if these errors were due to the fact that storyboards are not supposed to be exact or whether their team actually had made mistakes, which if not corrected would end up in the final video. We ended up making the corrections assuming that the storyboard needed to be exact.

We need to get an explanatory video done, to demonstrate briefly what Mailbird is and why it is a great tool for teams. That's where Wow-How studios came in.

What were your goals for this project?

To have a short animation video done, that we can place on our website for new users to understand within 1.5min what Mailbird is and does exactly.

How did you select this vendor?

Their communication was super professional. In addition to that, they were the only vendors that actually checked our website to send me animation examples that would match our current tone and brand. That was super helpful as I would only see examples that made sense to me and I didn't have to go through their entire website to find the ones that I would like. Their price was within our budget too.

The entire project is split up into different steps. After we agreed to work together, we set up a phone call. During this phone call, we discussed the project details and the steps in which it will be done. We set up different milestones for each step taken and walked through them. The steps are easy to understand and through their constant and professional communication, I was always able to follow where we were in the process.

What was the team composition?

I had one main point of contact. I know there were more people involved, but for me, it was great to be in touch with one person only.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have just finished the project and will implement it on our website within this week. I will know more in about 1-2 months time.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was super structured and professional. No hiccups or unanswered messages throughout the entire time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their preparation of the quote, when they send me all the examples that could match our company style. Also, I didn't need to explain much. Their questionnaire is easy to fill in and they create a perfectly fine video just based on that:-)

We have an immensely complex product, and we needed a creative agency to help us create a 1 minute explainer video, that included a script, animations, voice over and music. It was a great creative process between both of our teams to come up with the final result.

Our goal was to create this video the encompass our solution and have it delivered before our company debut at the websummit 2019.

I have shortlisted over 11 suppliers, and interviewed each one and sampled their existing portfolio and asked them for an initial feedback on how they would approach this challenge. Wow-how stood out from the competition with a solid creative approach and an unbeatable price-to-value proposal.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

The video is a very straight forward 1 minute explainer that takes the viewer from the statement problem, introducing our solution to the problem, and then exploring the features of this marketplace. I was assigned an account manager and a production manager.

We have worked closely over a period of 3 weeks with constant meet-up and emails back and forth until we have narrowed down to our final product. The team was extremely responsive and hard-working, I have worked with countless agencies over my 11 year career, and so far this was one of the best experiences I have had.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

It was very straight forward. At the beginning of the project we got a scoped out deliver date and timeline for feedback and delivery of each assets. Script, storyboard, Voice Over, Music and finally the first draft of animations.

We had a dedicated project/production manager that was available at all times to talk calls and discuss the deliverable and generally they have kept to all the timelines that they have committed to at the commencing of the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video was a great hit. We loved it, it was above our expectations and we have received great feedback from customers and stakeholders. We were able to simplify a very complex concept that we have struggled in the past to explain to non-technical people. We think it was a great success.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project team was amazing. Really easy to communicate with, they are always available to jump on a call and clarify any issues. They use the latest collaboration tools to ensure proper feedback is registered and actioned. The same goes for sign-offs they were very organized and diligent. It was a pleasure to work with them.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their experience as a team, their attention to detail, and their customer service. This something we certainly miss in Scandinavian countries. The team works really hard and makes sure to deliver on their promises with a positive attitude and with a customer first mindset.

It was really a pleasure to work with the team, and we have enjoyed the quality of the work and final product.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None that I can think off. Just keep doing what you are doing wow-how studio. We are very happy with our experience and end-results and are most certainly going to work with them again.

Our goal for this project was to have a visual explanation of the benefits of our newest solar-powered charging system, geared to the heavily industrial Fleet Truck industry.

How did you select this vendor?

I selected Wow-How based on their glowing recommendations from past projects, their speed at which they responded to my request, and the ability to deliver the asset within the timeframe I needed it.

Wow-How was very in depth with their SOW. From day one they made sure they understood the goals of the project, the audience that would be seeing it, and the visual that my team had in our heads. We had an initial kickoff call, in which i reviewed my goals for the project, the company values, and the scope of the project as I saw it.

From there, the staff at Wow-How started sending scripts, storyboards and drafts for us to review. Once those were approved they quickly and effectively put it into a visual that surpassed our expectations.

What was the team composition?

I personally worked with four different members of the team, each very friendly and set on getting our task completed on time and in budget. The talent at Wow-How was outstanding.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With the animation in hand we were able to land a number of quality leads from the trade show. We're also working on using this in our reseller showrooms in order to drive more sales. This asset has opened a number of doors for us.

The team as a whole was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The skill and clarity of all the staff members I interacted with was outstanding. Also, the caliber of the animation was nothing short of superb.

I am the marketing manager of a fashion marketplace app where people can buy and sell clothing.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow-How Studio?

We hired Wow-How Studio to create an educational series to inform our users about several features within the app. We wanted the animations to show how to report users in the app, how to use the search function, and other things our support team gets tickets for every day. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

So far, they’ve produced one video for us, and we use it more as a proof of concept (POC) item. This one focused on our search functionality, but we won’t be launching it just because we need to do more work on the feature with our product team. 

We handle the copy and storyboarding with our internal teams, so we provide those materials to their team to animate it. Together, we did a couple of drafts and landed on a final animated product. We plan on doing at least two more videos with them. 

What is the team composition?

They’ve assigned a dedicated project manager, Anastasia (Business Development Team Lead, Wow-How Studio). They also provide a team of designers and some others working behind the scenes. 

How did you come to work with Wow-How Studio?

I was looking on Upwork because I knew we needed a pretty immediate start. After talking through the best options financially, we decided to create a contract with them rather than using a third-party service. I knew they weren’t going to take advantage of us and we wanted to continue using their services into the future while fairly compensating them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $1,000 on the video, and we’re projected to spend between $2,000–$3,000 by the end of the year. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2019. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We haven’t launched the video, so we don’t have any metrics on how it could perform. However, as a POC, it has been approved by our CMO. Internal stakeholders are really happy with it. They have done exactly what we needed them to do, which was to prove videos like this are necessary. 

How did Wow-How Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re in pretty constant contact with our project manager. We have video calls every week and communicate via email to send feedback back and forth. They use my preference for how we communicate, which is very helpful. I don’t think we need to jump on a Skype call for something that could be much more efficient in an email and they agree. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their speed and competency are amazing—we feel really lucky that they fully understand what we’re trying to do. They’ve followed our mood board exactly and are able to make every change we ask for very quickly. Out of all the teams we could have worked with, we’re happy we got an efficient team like them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Anything that could be done differently would be on our end. They’ve done what we’ve asked of them. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The more clarity in your brief, the better. If you have everything determined about your project, they’ll be able to work more quickly and do better work. You should have a plan, script, storyboard, and other things nailed down before getting them involved so you can be most efficient.

I am the Director of Marketing for FinalStraw, the original reusable, collapsible straw that raised $1.89 million in Kickstarter. Our company is on a mission to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics by creating reusable, convenient alternatives that empower individuals to change their buying habits. As Director of Marketing I manage our efforts in educating the public on plastic pollution, raising awareness of the impacts our everyday decisions have on the planet, and of course, in sharing the value of our reusable, collapsible straw to anyone that wants to suck responsibly and be kinder to our earth.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wow-How Studio?

We recently launched an improved version of our FinalStraw, aptly named FinalStraw 2.0. However, we only had static images of our new design. The only videos we had were of our old design, which caused confusion amongst potential customers of what they were being sold. We needed a video that could communicate how badass our product actually is, but we didn't have an in-house animation or production team. That's why we hired Wow-How Studio.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal of the project was to create a fun yet sleek, animated video of our product that fully communicates its features and value for primarily advertising and brand awareness purposes.

How did you select this vendor?

We sourced Upwork for available contractors to help us with this project and we only considered a handful of other freelancers and agencies. We initially evaluated their public portfolio of work and looked for creativity in product renderings and text animations. We then evaluated cost and if received, a project quote. The deciding factors that led to working with Wow-How Studio, in addition to their portfolio of work, was the cost and the detailed pitch deck for the project.

Using provided CAD design files, we needed a 3D animation of our product in a fun, modern promotional video. Music was also sourced.

What was the team composition?

My initial contact was with their Vera (Business Development Manager, Wow-How Studio). She reached out directly to me with a pitch deck after I replied to their CEO on UpWork. Invoicing communications were also held with Vera. Afterwards, our main point of communications was their Daria (Delivery Manager, Wow-How Studio). We briefly communicated with their Svyatoslav (CMO, Wow-How Studio) while Daria was out on vacation, the transition and hand-off here were seamless.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final video is what marks this project as a success! People love it, we get great feedback that the music is catchy and the ad is fun and convincing. 

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. Communications were quick and thorough across the board. Surprisingly enough, we were able to keep all communications in one email thread for the whole project!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What was most impressive was their ability to adapt the design in a super quick timeline, even given the minuteness of the notes we would have.

We’re an IT company focused on mainframe support. We’ve recently started working on a tool that will identify everything running on a mainframe. In the future, we plan to extend to other programs, not just mainframe-based ones.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow-How Studio?

We had a high-level description of our product, and we hired Wow-How to help us with a one-minute infographic video about it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We gave Wow-How Studio a brief description of what we expected. They prepared storyboard sequencing and helped us with the audio track and voiceover. They also helped fine-tune the text content for regionalization. They selected a relevant video style for the business case.

During one month, we were able to establish scope, agree to finances, and work within the schedule they provided. The actual work on the 90-second infographics video took around two months.

What is the team composition?

I only worked with the account manager and the delivery manager. I would guess there was a team of 5–6 people from Wow-How, but I’m not sure what happened behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Wow-How Studio?

I’d seen one of their promotional videos for an event we were planning to go to. I searched online for who made the video, and I looked at a couple of Wow-How Studio’s past works on YouTube or on their website. We liked those, so we decided to approach them.

How much have you invested with them?

The whole project was below $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Wow-How in June 2019, and we wrapped up in September 2019. The project length was three months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They always made sure that we were happy as a customer. It was a very positive experience. I’d give them an A+ on quality. 

It was a pretty straightforward delivery, and it’s hard to judge someone who worked for 2–2.5 months with us. They delivered what we expected.

How did Wow-How Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team is proactive. For instance, they actively proposed that we prepare three scenarios. We weren’t sure which way to go, so they let us choose from those three and expand later on. We never had any issues with change requests. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We haven’t worked with an agency like Wow-How before, so I don’t know if this is standard, but they were spot-on with the audio track that we wanted to have in the background and the voiceover. It was a pleasant surprise to not have any hurdles.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve in terms of graphics a bit, specifically graphical expressions. That was a minor issue and didn’t damage the overall picture. 

For the budget we had, I can’t find any other improvement points. We didn’t hire them to create everything end to end. I believe Wow-How is capable of doing much more complex work with bigger budgets than ours, and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again in the future, including for more complex deliveries.

Clients should be ready to describe what they want. It will make the team’s easier
