The scope was to design and develop a professional business website for Castle Engineering & Consultancy. The expected deliverables included a suitable website template and layout, customization using the company’s content and images, setup of the main website pages, mobile-responsive formatting, basic navigation and functionality, and handover of a completed website ready for the company’s use.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

No measurable business outcomes were achieved because the project was discontinued before the website was completed and launched. The only tangible output was a temporary custom website concept, which was not approved for final delivery or use.

Their communication was generally prompt, and they moved quickly through onboarding and preparation of a temporary website concept. However, the project management process did not clearly establish the scope, deliverables, customer responsibilities, and pricing structure at the outset.
My stated preference was to proceed with the standard free option, but the engagement shifted toward a paid custom service. When I requested clarification, I was informed that the free option would consist of an uncustomized template that I would need to complete myself. As a result, the project was discontinued before any final website was delivered.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their marketing is polished and highly effective, and their strong volume of positive public reviews creates confidence in the service. The temporary website concept they produced also looked professional. What stood out most was how quickly they moved from onboarding to presenting a finished-looking design concept. However, in my case, the clarity of the service scope and pricing did not match the strength of the marketing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something The Free Website Guys could have done differently?

The main area for improvement is transparency. The scope of the free service, the customer’s responsibilities, and the paid options should have been explained clearly before onboarding, hosting purchase, and the design call. Instead, the process moved from an advertised free service, to an $84.99 paid option, and then to $19.99 after I declined.
That sequence undermined my trust. I am also concerned by the company’s public response to my Trustpilot review, which stated that I had said I “didn’t have the funds.” I did not make that statement.
My decision was never based on affordability; it was based on how the service and pricing were presented. In fact, had the $19.99 option been offered clearly and transparently from the beginning, I likely would have accepted it. The company should avoid attributing unsupported personal or financial statements to customers and should respond directly to the concerns actually raised.

I bought the Website Pro+ plan to get a Logo and a premier website template.

While the website is online, I am still in UAT, and the vendor has not responded in 2 weeks. Issues are not resolved, and the website lacks a professional appearance.

I also can't cancel the subscription because they provide no way to cancel.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The last response I got from the vendor as we want our clients to be happy and nothing for almost 2 weeks.  I literally created a google document listing out mobile and desktop issues, and they failed to fix half the time. It been too long a timeline for this type of project. 

I don't think they are capable of fixing this website and I want a refund and a cancellation of the subscription.  Can't fix UATs/issues effectively and can't cancel their Website Pro+ service. Not getting responses over email or by phone. Have not responded to me in 2 weeks, failed to fix UATs/issues submitted, unable to reach them to cancel a Pro+ website subscription and no one ever answers their phone number. They use disconnected numbers.

The company followed up in the early stages of the project (usually 3 days), but as we progressed in the project, responses took longer, and UATs items didn't get fixed. I had to repeatedly record videos, create documents, and lay out the issues for the logo and website. 

The company has not responded to me in almost 2 weeks, and I have an unprofessional and unattractive website. 

I also requested a cancellation of the Website Pro+ subscription. No response, I tried calling the number on the website and on the invoice, and either the number disconnected or no one called back.

Honestly, only their low price, and initially it appeared they had a structured process.

Respond to emails more quickly, provide a way to cancel their subscription, answer their phone, and use a phone number that is connected. 

Correct all the UATs submitted or ask questions if they don't understand. 

The company responded quickly to a review of them but not to me about my project.

The Free Website Guys's project management has been horrible. The team hasn't delivered on time, and we still haven't launched the website four months later. The team hasn't provided any updates or estimated timelines about when the website will be fully launched. Moreover, they don't answer when we ask about the timeline.

It says free website guys, but they sell you on many different things and won't start work until you buy several after you buy everything that they suggest they become very hard to contact and make you do your own work every step of the way I've had them for months and have not seen one page of website development yet I would steer clear of working with these guys pay for a real website development
