I've come across a call from the Free Website Guys on Facebook. Just like some other clients of them, I was also a bit suspicious at the beginning: why would such an awesome service be free? I did my research, read tons of reviews and could not find the trick luckily. It's part of their commission-based business model with their web-hosting partner that I could benefit from.

We've been working together more or less 5 weeks, during this time the Free Website Guys did build my website, took care of some crucial domain questions, added all security and safety tools needed, designed and optimized Google Analytics and Google search functionality, advised me on layout and templates. What I find amazing, besides this, is that step by step I received updates on the progress, with clear explanations on what had been done. Now that their part is done, I have an extensive handover document and a tailor-made video for myself in which they explain how exactly my website works and where I can find main functionalities to make changes and/or add content. It's helpful and impressive. Overall I am beyond satisfied: happy and extremely grateful for this possibility and the work the Free Website Guys have done for me.

We communicated via e-mail, and Sven lead the communication. Step by step I received updates on the progress, with clear explanations on what had been done. At the end of the project I received an extensive handover document and a tailor-made video for myself in which they explain how exactly my website works and where I can find main functionalities to make changes and/or add content.

I would highlight the communication, including technical updates and technical handover.

There is no such thing. They provide a free service still they cooperate with you as you were a paying customer, which was impressive.

The most impressive thing was they did great work at no cost.

Some of the videos that provide step-by-step instructions have outdated screenshots because the tools have evolved. It was still useful in understanding what needed to be done but it would be helpful if the screenshots were updated.

Unfortunately we have not switched/transitioned from Wix to Wordpress. I cannot specifically provide measurable outcomes of the live website.

They were extremely detail and process oriented. They had 19 steps to develop the website and they were constantly communicating on where they stand as well as completion forecast.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were helpful from the first interaction to the launch of our website through all the designing and development process. They ensured top quality, timely delivery and satisfactory support till the end of the project. Not only were they a great company to work with. They were an excellent example to any entrepreneur of how a great company should be run.

The one feedback I could add to minimize communication delays - When "The Free Website Guys" team request us to complete a task, there are certain tasks that can be combined rather than request one task each time.

They made it very clear that in return, once the website is completed, I would have the opportunity to purchase additional services. However, from start to finish the labor it took for website development was free.

There were no gimmicks, no promotions, no templated mass emails. In fact, I had continuous direct email contact with my tech support representative, Sven, who always answered my questions and concerns very quickly as we went through the process.

I received nothing but genuine experienced technical assistance. All I had to do was secure a domain and select a website template; they did all the rest. We were referred to them by a business colleague who spoke very highly of them and their work.

The team asked that we assist in theme selection and minimal theme editing (what blocks did we like/not like/etc.). Everything else was 100% their end - coding, backend work, security, etc. The website we got was completely built out, secured, and ready to go - all we are doing now is copy and pasting in the content we want up, as we write it or acquire photography.

What was the team composition?

Communication on our end was solely with Sven, which made everything run so smoothly. I have no doubt he has an entire team behind him, but he would always gather all the information from various parties and then present it to us himself in a summarized way.
