I am an IT consultant for an enterprise software company but this is a personal project I have contacted the FreeWebsiteGuys for. Our project aims to deliver information on how to apply to University Programs in the Netherlands as a Hungarian (www.hollandegyetem.hu).

FreeWebsiteGuys do pro bono web development for a select number of ideas. I know someone who already had a free website made by them and was impressed by the quality. They did not disappoint.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The FreeWebsiteGuys were simply incredible from start to finish. When coming up with a idea for a project, initially I have struggled to create a Wordpress site which looks good, has satisfactory page speed and overall is easy to administrate. The whole project took roughly a month from start to end, where the communication and tasks needed to be done from my end were always clear and precise. In the future, I will be recommending them to my network, even if it is a free starter website or a complex website development project.

As mentioned previously, very impressed with how the pipeline is optimized on their end.

The pro bono website idea first did not make much sense to me but after the process finished, I do see where they benefit from. I'm very impressed with the overall process.

No, I think for these type of projects, this is possibily the best you can do.

I was lead through the process very easily even though I have no real technical know how.

It was so effective. All the communication was easy and clear. I was amazed at what a beautiful, streamlined process they have created. They have delivered exactly what they promised with supreme competence.

I was blown away by the clarity of communication and timely completion of the different stages of the process. The only thing that held things back from getting done more quickly was me.

I wasn't in a position to employ a web developer and after attempting to build my own website a few times, it just didn't look professional so I saw some of the examples that The free website guys did and decided to give it a go that way.

The steps were really clear and I was guided through each step even the technical bits with domains etc were made really easy.

I've had some amazing feedback. People think the website looks great, is really clear and looks professional which was a key thing for me.

Everything was done via email which made it really simple and the turnaround time was really quick.

I like their business model and the fact that it gives startups the opportunity to have a professional website.

I don't think so. There are some things that apply in the UK like cookie policies and privacy policies that I had to work out myself to get on but I wouldn't expect those unique elements considering the business model.

I applied to have a free website built and was chosen after a few weeks.

Sven was wonderful and so so cummincative when it came to all my questions AND my lack of tech knowledge. Every step from the very beginning was spelled out for me and this whole process was very easy and convenient. I did think I might not get top notch service since this was all free to me and boy was I wrong. I kept waiting for them to say 'we don't do that' etc. but it never came.

I am beyond thrilled with my site because I could not have done this on my own like I originally thought. They also used a lot of plugins that I would have never known I didn't need to pay for. So not only did the free website guys save me money on building my site but they also saved me money on ad ons. I am so excited to start customizing and marketing, etc.

I will def use Sven and the team moving forward. Thank you thank you FWG!!!

I am in the process of doing all of my own customizations so my site isn't live yet but I already know they did such a great job and saved me $1,000's.

The Space Aarhus is a very new initiation and therefore, we needed a website. We wanted to promote our offline and online events through our website.

The Free Website Guys offered free website creation, and being a non-profit volunteer based organization this was the most important point for us.

My team had discussed the different needs and necessities for our website and the Free Website Guys started to work on it right away. We received small video tutorials on how to set up a host, domain name etc.

We haven't launched the site yet, as lots of text need to be written for it, images need to be made. But the team loves the new website! They helped us with brochures, information booklets etc. to go through the whole co-operative process. Finally, we received our functional website and got instructions on how to change and edit anything in it.

Our website stated an American address in the footer section, when we got the website. This was fixed very fast.

As a busy entrepreneur, I knew I needed a personal web site, but never seemed to find the time to do it. And while I have some of the necessary skills, I'm not strong in design and not up-to-date on the latest technology. The Free Website Guys did all the heavy lifting and quickly got a site up and running for me. They were very easy to work with and very detail oriented. I'm pleased with all they have done and highly recommend them.

They approached me. They had a very reasonable approach to the work at a reasonable price, so I decided to give them a try.

I was very impressed with their communications with me. They kept me engaged at every step. They communicated how they would approach the project. Because I already had an existing site with some content that needed to be preserved, we first had to agree on that. The first step was to review the existing WordPress installation and plug-ins and make some updates and changes, especially relating to security. Next, we agreed on a Divi theme to install. As the final step, they provided extensive video documentation on how I could load my content to the site and operate it going forward.

I only had contact with one person, however I know there were more working behind the scenes.

We were referred to The Free Website Guys by a colleague. The deciding factor was our interaction with them. They were responsive, smart and knew what they were doing.

Moreover, they build the shell of the site and you, as the client, build out the rest. We’re very hands on and loved this approach.

Sven, at The Free Website Guys, me-t us in the loop every step of the way. We had choices between free and Divi Wordpress themes (we chose Divi) and received video tutorials on every step of what they needed from us (license keys, logins to Bluehost, etc).

Each time they completed a deliverable (site setup, coming soon page active, etc), we got an email.

2-3 people vis the video tutorials but primarily we worked with Sven. He was our main POC.

They built our site in rapid time, it turned out exactly per our request and were happy.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Free Website Guys?

We're recently established a nonprofit, and we needed a website for networking and getting people to join our cause.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I work with The Free Website Guys to develop a WordPress site for my nonprofit organization. They are organized and streamline every step of the process. Each day, they email me a private YouTube video made by them with steps that I have to do; all the complex steps are watered down and easy for me to understand and execute. Then, they follow it up with their portion of the development. 

They give me a handful of options to define the style, colors, and theme of the website. They email me photos of different themes and colors that I can choose. Not only that, but they also allow me to modify the tags and pages, so there's a place for home donations and volunteers. They also install and set up Google Analytics and collection of data so that our website grows through time, and gets good traction. The whole process is fairly simple, and we got the website up and running in two weeks.

My main point of contact is Sven (Co-Founder).

How did you come to work with The Free Website Guys?

I was referred to them by one of my clients who mentioned that there was an organization that made free websites. After looking into them, I emailed them an application form about my organization. Then, they review it among the other hundreds of applications that they receive, and I was selected as one of the organizations for a free website.

How much have you invested with them?

They made the website 100% free — I didn't have to pay for any of their labor.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project near the end of March 2021, and it took two weeks to finish. In case I have any consulting doubts, I can contact them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website isn't up yet, since I still have some information to upload. However, I share it with the board of directors, and they love the idea and how the website is laid out. I probably saved over a thousand dollars because they made a really elegant WordPress website that's easy to navigate, and I'm very grateful for that.

How did The Free Website Guys perform from a project management standpoint?

All the communication is done through email. They email me the stuff they need to get done, and all the steps contain images for clarity since some steps are a little confusing. In every email, they always ask if I have any questions, but everything is clear. I know that if I reach out to them, it would take a few days to get back to me, and that would interrupt the process which would make the project take longer.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with how neatly organized they are and the fact that everything has a flow. I didn’t have any mishaps, nor we have any miscommunication. Everything has step-by-step instructions that aren’t too complicated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything because all the information is provided. The only thing that they didn't mention is how can I collaborate with them in the future or if they offer other services.

Any advice for potential customers?

With anything that involves technology and websites, you need to have patience. They have a plan for the project and a timeframe, so you have to stick up with it in order to get the best out of the collaboration.

No. The service was excellent. The only issue was that it could have been quicker, but those delays were largely our fault.
