tkxel has developed an app for Android and iOS based on my interface designs. Initially, I showed them the screens I wanted the app to have and how it should run. tkxel and I have started with an NDA and a discovery call to understand what I wanted the app to do and how I imagined it to work, and tkxel provided feedback, which was very useful. We had a kick-off call and signed the contract, which they adjusted per my requests. The app is a camera app that links users with other people for shared albums they create together. When a user takes photos or videos through the camera, the other person has immediate access to those photos and videos. Users can also make a customized and shareable checklist.

The quality of tkxel's work has met my expectations, and I'm delighted with the app's quality; it looks like a professionally-made app.

The project has been on budget. I've had some additional requests, and tkxel has been on top of everything. We haven't had to deal with anything out of our control that needed more hours to pivot. The team has taken those costs themselves and hasn't asked me to pay more. We had to delay the app's release slightly because I wanted to do extra things, and something that was out of our control. However, I haven't had issues because I'm not rushing. We've gone back and forth with the app, but everything has been clear, professional, and timely. tkxel updates me on the progress with weekly reports, so I don't need to chase anyone. The team has also shared a three-page slide deck report through email. We had many video calls at the beginning of the project, where the team understood what I wanted the app to do and how I wanted the screens to look. After that, we had calls twice a week, which became weekly calls. Now, we mainly communicate through email or WhatsApp.

For the 360 project, the videos needed to be edited and color corrected. A 360 video is a video of our linen that spins in a 360 view to show how our linen looks on a table in real-time. tkxel has also helped with daily web development tasks, and we’re currently working on a few major projects with them.

Since she came onto our project, she and her team have helped other teams within tkxel to better understand how to communicate, what to look for, how to scope, and how to show stages of progress. Each project is a little different, but since this project, their communication has become amazing, and their deliverability rate has improved a lot.

We communicate via weekly meetings and email. To track progress, we use Excel documents with progress bars. Each video has multiple checkpoints, including editing checkpoints, internal QA, internal QC, our own checkpoints, and editing remarks. After each step, we check off if the standard is to our liking.
