How did Hyperlink InfoSystem perform from a project management standpoint?

Hyperlink InfoSystem has met all deadlines. They’ve even delivered some items earlier than expected. Their work is also well within our budget. Our main point of communication is through a WhatsApp group.

When issues arise with the app, I can simply email Parth, and he’ll respond right away. He usually tells me that he and his team will look into the issue. Within 24 hours, I’ll get a response; either the technical issues are corrected, or they need more information so they can resolve the issues.

For a specific project, they’ve created a device for doctor appointments. Its features include reports and a piece of software where doctors can connect with patients. It can also identify patterns among patients and diagnose their disease based on those patterns. All of the software we’ve developed are HIPAA-compliant, and I’m getting the best results from Hyperlink InfoSystem. I’ve seen cost savings for my business. Moreover, a lot of consultants are in my area, but my quote is usually 70% lower than their quotes — that’s because of the team’s affordable services. Overall, I’ve found a good development partner in them. 

How did Hyperlink InfoSystem perform from a project management standpoint?

The best part is that I receive screenshots of what they’re doing. Every five minutes, if I want to know if a resource is working, I can use Jira to track all screenshots. I also receive weekly reports of their accomplishments. For communication, we use WhatsApp and Skype. I have access to project managers even after office hours. Overall, they’re highly transparent.

First of all, we’ve had a reduction in costs; using a third party instead of our in-house team for this development has allowed us to reduce our initial budget projections. The second success metric is an increase in subscribers. Since we didn’t have a mobile app before, we had a lower number of users, which has changed as a result of the partnership.

We communicate mostly using Skype and email, and use a project management tool called Zoho. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Their responsiveness and flexibility when addressing requirements stand out. Requirements usually evolve for projects like this. When working with other companies, we’ve seen less flexibility in responding to these changes, but Hyperlink InfoSystem has been incredibly flexible in this regard.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This is not within the project scope, but Hyperlink InfoSystem could’ve provided more specific recommendations initially. When we shared the initial requests, they replied with the suggested best practices but not with specific feature suggestions. Considering how experienced they are, we expected them to propose more specific ideas.

Our goal was to offer our rental services through a mobile app, so we needed help with developing two apps: one for drivers and another for customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hyperlink InfoSystem helped us develop the mobile apps we needed. Initially, I talked to them about our needs, and they guided me through creating an appropriate analysis and documentation for the project. During this stage, they also helped me define the details of the app.

Then, Hyperlink InfoSystem created a prototype for the product. Once we ensured the prototype had no issues and included what we had requested, they delivered the app's final version. Technically, they delivered four apps: an Android version and an iOS version for both sides of the business.

As for its features, the app allows customers to choose their location and place an order to book one of our wheelchairs for one or several days. The app includes a timer, so clients might need to pay a penalization fee if they deliver it late. Still, they can make payments through the app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hyperlink InfoSystem developed our cross-platform app from scratch; we didn't have anything laid out already. Their team started by designing the app's UX/UI, and we outlined the requirements for each module. Their team added many modules, including a design, account, and home and game screens modules. Once the modules and design were finalized, Hyperlink InfoSystem put together the backend and linked a database to the app. 

The app awards prizes is only available in Singapore. Users complete the simple trivia game we've created and then have access to a spinner wheel to turn to determine which prize they'll get. We then send out the prizes. Users can provide feedback on the prizes they get, which we use to develop reports. We then pass these reports back to our brand partners.

The app is now live on the Android and Apple app stores. User satisfaction is our key metric, and we haven't had any major complaints from users. Hyperlink InfoSystem delivered a quality app. The project was very successful because their deliverables were good.

I interacted daily with Hyperlink InfoSystem's project manager through Skype and email. However, their project management could've been better, but it was still managed well. We used Zoho to track tickets; we still use it now to track bugs. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

In general, our partnership with Hyperlink InfoSystem was very pleasant. Unlike other vendors I've worked with, their team didn't transform every issue into a budget change. Instead, they just rectified the issue and made the change we requested.

No one is perfect, and I'd say that Hyperlink InfoSystem's communication and understanding of the project requirements could be improved.

I'd advise customers to be very descriptive and detailed about their project requirements. Customers can't just provide a generalized concept because it leaves too much room for Hyperlink InfoSystem to decipher the information incorrectly.

I'm the CDO at MF&K, a digital product design and branding company that serves as a one-stop-shop for all digital and branding needs. We've been running for about two years and work in about five different time zones that shift throughout the year.

What challenge were you trying to address with Hyperlink InfoSystem?

We needed to complete development efforts for one of our client's websites. Our client was a high-end denim and clothing brand that operates in five storefronts plus an online presence. We had created the first version of their website 5–6 years ago, and they approached us to redo it.

We staffed the project by reaching out to various contractors to see who could step into the fold. One of our developers needed to step off the project when we still had a substantial amount of backlog tasks to be completed, so we hired Hyperlink InfoSystem.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hyperlink InfoSystem took over the development of our client's website. The site was about halfway complete when they came on board, and the project manager and I devised a process that could work for our needs. We had done mood boards and wireframes that were approved by the client and moved on to the development phase. 

On our side, we created a series of prioritized tickets for them to work on each week and develop the site against the designs we had already created. One developer from our previous provider stuck around and worked with them on the DevOps side during the first month.

The design-heavy site required robust changes from breakpoint to breakpoint, from a 27-inch monitor to a mobile phone. There are a couple of additional breakpoints on the tablet size that needed to be developed that extended to six breakpoints. We handled this with a back and forth; we would stretch the browser, see what was responding, and then they would make comments. The team also worked to customize a free backend system. At the end of each day, they would populate a message that included the detail of which tickets they had targeted.

We worked with five people from Hyperlink InfoSystem, including a project manager, two backend developers, and one frontend developer.

How did you come to work with Hyperlink InfoSystem?

My partner knew one of Hyperlink InfoSystem's founders and recommended them when we were trying to pick an agency to work with. We had a few conversations with them about numbers and timing, and we decided to move forward with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $3,500 per resource for the first month, for 40 hours a week. Since we had three resources in that first month, we spent $10,500. For the second month, the project manager worked part-time, and we added two more developers to the mix, so we paid around $19,000. In total, we spent less than $50,000.

We worked together from May–July 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I've worked as a designer for over 10 years and have worn every hat, so I'm a stickler when it comes to the visuals and functionality of a website. I measure Hyperlink InfoSystem's success based on how the site looks and functions compared to how I designed it and denoted the functionality request. Their development build matches the original visual comps, as does the functionality. 

Some other things that stand out to me are the pages' load time, the site's stability, and instances when the team made functionality edits without my direction with sound thinking. They came up with dev solutions not documented in my comps that were very good, and I hadn't even thought of them. 

How did Hyperlink InfoSystem perform from a project management standpoint?

I would give them high marks for project management. The project was a tall order from the start because the backend system we used isn't built to do much of what we customized it to do. Therefore, we didn't set up the project expecting to see it be fully completed; it was always a matter of how much we could get done and how well according to our timeline and budget. The fact that the team got the site to a logical state with minor CSS styling changes merits high marks. 

We came up with a sprint cadence according to our timing, budget, and the resources on hand. Together, we devised a plan considering our timezone difference to be on the same page because we had to work fast.

When it came to talking clearly and straightforwardly, things went in the right direction, so I had no major complaints. However, we faced challenges on the communication side due to our language barrier. We had a Slack channel to centralize all communications, and we would check in one day a week in the first month and then three days a week in the second month as things ramped up with DevOps. We used Linear as an online tacking tool, which was very useful for populating tasks. When we had meetings, we used Zoom. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed that Hyperlink InfoSystem could match the design style. The design was done in hard baseline eight; I set up the site on an eight-by-eight pixel grid system, which created a large number of odd spacings between the elements based on the bounding boxes of text frames. They were able to address the breakpoint needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We could have improved our alignment on what was reflected in their local environment compared to our own staging environment. This might have mitigated some back and forth. With our difference in timezones, we lost some time because we would sometimes need changes at the end of the day for them.
