Requests were always met with a good attitude and if ever questions arose, they did not hesitate to ask for clarity. Often times the  projects assigned had deliverables with looser deadlines allowing for a bit more exploration than normally provided. On the projects with hard deadlines, we were able to work closely with our PM to ensure they were delivering on time or at least timely delivering to our internal team the assets necessary to carry the project through to final. Long distance communication initially posed a threat as our teams were several time zones removed from one another. We wanted to create a video to explain our dating series concept in a succinct and entertaining way. Our goal was to visualize the concept without building out a full-scale set to pitch the project to potential investors.

We worked with the film team including Vivek, Dhrumi, and Gunjan. They approached each step with a laser-like focus, making the need for notes minimal. Any notes we did present, they examined with great precision, making for a streamlined and high-quality result.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We showed off the new video to our company internally, which garnered great enthusiasm and support. As we've begun to share the project with prospective investors, they have found the video/concept to be both very easy to understand and exciting to discuss further. In our line of work, clarity is key, and this video accomplishes just that.

The team was very communicative through each step of the process. We never questioned when we would see the next deliverable. We communicated via video chat and email and the team was always readily available to walk through any notes.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They truly cared about our project. We felt that they were just as enthusiastic about the work as we were, which made the process feel very collaborative and inspirational.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Once selected, Communication Crafts were with us at every step of the journey. The initial brief was outlined (Including all guidelines which needed to be followed) and these aspects were verified over a Zoom meeting. An in-depth storyboard was then provided which provided ample information which gave a clear image of how the animation would look before it was ever produced. Once the storyboard was signed off, the first draft was provided. After supplying feedback the team then implemented these changes into the second and final version. The final product encapsulated our image for the project perfectly.

They were there every step of the way. Feedback was encouraged and acted upon fast.

Animation is a far more accessible medium, especially for a topic like ESG which would traditionally be presented through text. Because of this, the animation garners far more engagement with our audience.

We had Skype calls with their team and used email to communicate. We also had a ticketing system in place.

We took on 16 new partners in the last quarter of 2020 who have hit the ground running selling the product to their customers. They’ve all signed up and have been through the dashboard, and they’re happy to sell it to their clients. I see that as a big positive. 

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

It was a relatively small project. I had to educate Communication Crafts on what the commercial drivers of my business are, which I expected to do. I had to make sure that they understood that any clunkiness or anything that didn’t follow logic would damage the end user’s impression of the software.

What they did was very well aligned with the principle that the more successful they can help me be, the more money I will spend with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

In terms of value for money, there’s a significant difference between Communication Crafts’ price and that of the company that did our MVP. Even though they’re four hours ahead of us, I still get responses outside work hours, and they’re willing to learn. When I need access to people higher up the chain, I can get it easily.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re software development hands, so it’s always tough to get them to understand the commercial side of the business. It’s not their job necessarily, but what they’re delivering is designed to be a commercial product. 

They’re not bad at it, but it would help if they remembered that the product will be sold. It’s not necessarily criticism because they’re not commercial people.

Be proactive in building the relationship and invest time in them. Make sure that what you’re asking them to do has as little ambiguity as possible. Additionally, share user feedback with them and tell them what you want to do, but be open to their suggestions as well.

A lot of the work is shorter films, but they’ve also done longer projects for us. Our longest animation was 20 minutes long for an oil rig company, but we split it into three videos to make it more digestible for viewers.

They are very good from a project management point of view. We get weekly updates about what they are doing and have a weekly phone call which they are often chasing me for because I know I can trust them with things. We also have a weekly Skype call, and once a year their boss will come over and we go out for dinner together. I never have any worries about project management with them.

One of the distinguishing parts of their service is that they are very good communication-wise and have creative skill sets to match it; they don’t just talk the talk. They aren’t just yes people but will challenge me if they think that what we are saying doesn’t sound right or isn’t a good idea. I had a storyboard, but it was too long, so we had to adjust it. We had no experience in doing that; the quote I requested included the script as well. I sent them the storyboard so they could understand what we were talking about.

I sent them additional information on the product. It’s difficult to make up a video on something technical that you’ve never seen before, especially when it comes to security. There was a bit of interaction when conveying the message, but other than that, I relied on them. I didn’t want to interfere too much.

Initially, I was in contact with the business developer, and then I was assigned a project manager who was very reactive and responsive. She was getting feedback from me, defining what I wanted and then conveyed the ideas to the developer. I also dealt with the person the project manager reported to. He was the one who officially sent out emails on her behalf.

Since we already had a sort of storyboard, it was easier for them to understand the product and the message we wanted to convey. They were good.

We had a very tight schedule because I wanted to show the video at an event. I was in contact with the project manager through Skype to discuss the technicalities, and she was excellent.

The people at Communication Crafts were very organized and kept me updated on the progress of the project. They sent me records every Monday, allowing me to know exactly what was going on. They would get in touch if there were any issues or if they needed anything, or even if they needed any advice despite the different time zone.

They were better than some European suppliers we worked with. I am happy with my choice. Sometimes it isn’t just a matter of price.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was a bit of an issue when it came to payment. I don’t know how the banking system works in India, but I don’t think it’s their fault. When you have to provide bank details to your customers, they need to know exactly what information to provide; nothing less, nothing more. If Europe is one of their markets, they need to know how payments are done from Europe to their account. Each country has its own habits, but in Europe, there are regulations which are quite common. Every time we are asked to make a payment, the details are always the same.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I have already passed on their contact information to some people I know that might have the need to make videos in the future. Trust them. Although I am very picky and demanding, I really wanted to leave it up to them.

We took videos and followed up with the people who use the program, and they have all said that the children are significantly more engaged in the process of learning to write. They tend to get very attached to the program’s characters, and we have data that shows that handwriting improves for the school as a whole. I am very happy with the results of the project.

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very organized and consistently keep to deadlines. If they’re ever not going to make a deadline, they’ll explain why well in advance, and it’s often simply because I asked them to add something else or make a change.

We have a constant interaction where they’ll send me an updated version of the program with something to review, I’ll send it back, and they’ll tell me when they’ll release it. I always know what is coming up and how things are moving along.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their business manager is incredibly responsive. Even if I sent something at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, I would still get a response by 10 o’clock at night because of the time difference. I never felt that I had to wait for them to come online; the time difference actually worked quite in my favor.

I don’t think so. Beyond some minorly different perceptions between British and Indian English that take a second round to clarify, there is really nothing to improve on the project at all.

On the planning side, there were two or three people involved in quoting the brief and getting a good idea of what the scope of the project was. In the development phase, there are four or five people. Most of the communication is actually with the development team.

How did you come to work with Communication Crafts?

I really don’t have a lot of tech expertise, so I had the help of a digital marketing consultant who put me in touch with Communication Crafts and wrote the brief for them. We did have two or three other options, but I had the opportunity to meet one of Communication Crafts’ members who was visiting in England. I was able to physically have a conversation and just run through some of my concerns as a non-tech savvy person. They were able to convince me that they were ideal for the job.

We’re testing the website on the consumer side at the moment and there are a few refinements that need to be made, but overall, it’s running smoothly. We aim to do the beta launch in mid-December and I’m confident that the website will be ready by then.

In many ways, Communication Crafts has exceeded my expectations. They probably managed to go beyond the brief we gave them and working with them has been very straightforward. They have bent over backward to help me, especially considering I’m a non-tech person. I can imagine some of the conversations we have had would have been a bit frustrating for them.

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Skype or email to communicate with the development team. We generally have a call on a weekly basis and they tend to all be there. Management wise, they are quite methodical. Communication Crafts provides an email following the Skype call which specifies what we discussed and the next things they will be working on. It’s very straightforward from that point of view.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication Crafts is very helpful and genuinely wants to do a good job. If their client isn’t pleased with what they’re producing, they aren’t pleased. From a non-technical aspect, I also found it quite surprising how they managed to create on the website the ideas that I had in my head. I find it quite difficult to talk in technical terms that describe exactly what I want.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s always a possibility of miscommunication across national boundaries. Indian companies tend to take things a little more literally than you might actually mean, so clients have to be careful with how they communicate in order to avoid problems. We’ve experienced some minor issues like this. For example, we wanted to create a pop-up guide that displays how the website works to the customer, and that was taken quite literally.

They came back to us with almost a step-by-step guide illustrating which lines to fill and so on. I was actually thinking of a page where we would describe what the icons mean and where the user needs to go to see the results.

They are very practiced in the process they have, and I think it works very well. I don’t necessarily see any issues in anything where they need to drastically improve.

We’d made all of the infrastructure, but we had to develop our core video player separately from all of that, so the main thing Communication Crafts was involved in was integrating those sides of the product. Essentially, they took out a box with all the tentacles of code joined up to it and put in a new box and reattached all the tentacles.

I had direct communication with one of their business executives, their tech lead on my project, and a couple of other more specialized developers working under them.

I met their team at a trade show in London, and at the time, I was looking for a development team to take over some of the nitty-gritty work from my development team in Poland. They were very proactive in pursuing my business, which impressed me, so I decided to go with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The bottom line is that we haven’t had any crashes or fails with the program since they got involved in the project. What they built is stable, and I’m incredibly satisfied with the quality of the work that they’ve delivered.

The other element is that they are completely focused on the business relationship that we are developing rather than on making a quick profit. They performed both research at the beginning and tweaks at the end of the project that they have not charged me at all for, just because they wanted to provide as good a final product as possible.  

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

The guys at the top are absolutely excellent at keeping you up to date and at being completely transparent and honest, which I really like. I also have direct contact with the head tech guy, who has been available for absolutely every element of the process, even in helping me select the third-party provider that we used to produce the video player.

We had weekly calls during the majority of the development process and were communicating regularly outside of that as well. They were incredibly reliable and are in touch with me even now when I don’t have any work for them to do. As soon as we move on to the next stage of our process, they’ve got the gig because I know I can trust them to do a good job with it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I just feel like I’m getting real value and I’m being treated like a partner and not a bag of money. I’m not a big business, so I need flexibility, and they give that. They celebrate the long term rather than the quick win.

When the project began, we provided Communication Crafts with wireframes and rudimentary design mockups. From there, they provided us with all of the hard coding and backend development. Additionally, they delivered a CMS portal that enables us to view and manage the app and website.

The app and website involve a lot of uploading, downloading, and sharing with different media platforms, so our project required a lot of organizing in terms of labeling, file names, categorizing, and sorting information by folders. Additionally, the website had to support several payment portals and storage levels. Communication Crafts helped us design and develop all of those functions, and they also provided a solution on how to display the remaining storage amount on each user’s account. Each user account could be customized by name and avatar, and you were able to connect with other users—to see their photos and media—or invite friends to use the app and website.

There were a lot of moving parts to the project, and the project continued to morph as we got further into the design stages. Communication Crafts handled every new hurdle or addition effortlessly and seamlessly.

As a startup, we were given limited funding from investors for building our product—making local production unfeasible. We established trust with Communication Crafts in order to build a high-quality minimum viable product (MVP) at a reasonable cost.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Communication Crafts has built two types of applications for me: a RESTful API and a frontend web application.

The RESTful API allows machines from manufacturing facilities to connect directly to the cloud in order to push transaction payloads and pull results on-demand, in real time.

Communication Crafts used AngularJS and Bootstrap JavaScript to develop a full-feature manufacturing and execution system in the form of a web app. It allows engineers and managers to configure entire factories: defining used products, workflows, and equipment, as well as associating said equipment to workflows, steps, and products. I wrote the first version of the API before engaging with them, after which I handed over the code.

I chose the Microsoft ASP.NET Core, an open source release of .NET, running in a Linux environment. The entire app is running on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform with PostgreSQL and EC2 instances. We’re using the Amazon Route 53 domain name server.

We’ll be using AWS Auto Scaling and multiple availability zones to migrate to a newer infrastructure within AWS as the platform continues to evolve over the next few months.

What is the team composition?

I’m working with two full-stack developers, a frontend developer, a project manager, and an infrastructure specialist. I also have monthly meetings with the marketing team.  

How did you come to work with Communication Crafts?

I’d used their team with a consulting company in the past for a project that required development of a customer portal where users could upload test results from optometrists.  I evaluated around three development companies in total. I talked with Communication Crafts' owner and found him to be responsive to my questions. The support level felt as if it were local. They performed well in terms of timelines and budget, so we started a couple of small projects.

As a result of that interaction and because we’d already established trust, they were the first company that came to mind when I started Medulla.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have high-level metrics, but their performance is improving based on sprint retrospectives. It was hard to articulate what the business was, what the requirements were, and how these things aligned due to the nature of the industry. However, they started improving once they got the hang of things.  

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re using agile development methods and have a retrospective at the end of every sprint, during which we discuss what we’ve accomplished and what the next steps are. I also talk to the developers daily and they have a project manager on their end. It’s a hands-on process.

They’re doing well in terms of project management, but I can’t give too much feedback because I’m also managing the process. We decided on this engagement model from the very start of the project.

They’ve managed projects for me during other engagements, but I felt it was unnecessary for the current one because I can talk to the developers daily and interact with them on Jira boards. The internal project management is limited to a once-per-month engagement to check the project’s status. Their management calls me proactively at least once a month in order to check the status of the work.

We have a dedicated Slack channel which we use a lot. We also use Amazon Chime and Skype for audio, video, and screen-sharing calls. I can call the developers directly at any time in case of emergencies. I was able to call one of their developers at 7:30 PM Sydney time, which is 2:00 AM in their area.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The trust I’ve been able to develop with them is the most impressive thing. They’re very engaged and want to understand what our problems are. They’re dedicated to providing exemplary customer service—and late-night calls are an example of that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should vary their technology stack more. I can understand specializing in a certain technology, but most companies don’t stick with a single stack. Getting some React.js and AWS cloud-formation talent would be beneficial.

With outsourcing, we have to be very clear on what we want to do and what our expectations are. Beyond making it clear to ourselves, we also have to articulate those ideas to the development team. I created detailed specifications to walk the team through every step. This may be easier for me because I have a technical background. It’s preferable to having back-and-forth discussions.

All of these things help us to sell more websites. If you look at the entire portfolio, there will be some aspect of Communication Crafts’ work in all of those sites.

How did Communications Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through email, phone, and Skype, and use project management tools.

They always go the extra mile. Bearing in mind that they’re 5 hours ahead, I could speak to them at 4 pm knowing it’s late there. I would tell them to go home but they would carry on doing the work.

They’re keen to please and sometimes I feel that they’re overambitious in terms of the speed with which they can deliver. There have been times that I’ve had to slow them down. It takes a bit longer but I don’t care. We’re striving for perfection because we have to do our best to look after the companies we support. When we introduce something new, it has to be perfect because it’s being used by all of the 500 companies that use our system. Our quality requirements are therefore probably excessive. We might be too demanding.

The volume of work that they deliver is very high because there are 2 full-time programmers working for us. At some point during the process, there have been 1-2 quality control issues with the delivery but it’s uncommon. We had frank discussions with them about it and they’ve responded with tighter controls and cross-checking. They’re concentrating on being more comprehensive in the way they test and now have a new program in force with itemized testing. So, we’ve had 1-2 hiccups but, in the scheme of things, they haven’t been severe and they reacted quickly to address calls to address the quality control issues. During normal development, there are always issues to address. They stack up favorably to any developer anywhere in the world I've ever come across.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their commitment. They really do want to please.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I think they're doing just fine as they are.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go into it with your eyes open. Don’t treat them like a bucket into which you throw work and expect work to come out the other end. Treat them as an extension of your team and remember that they’re working remotely. Give them a framework to work within and enough information to enable them to do the job properly. When you’ve briefed them, make very sure that they really do understand the briefing and nothing has been lost. Don’t forget that they’re working on a system they’ve never seen before. If you were recruiting a new programmer, you wouldn’t expect them to churn out a perfect code on Day 1. You would do training: it’s no different.

You'll get out of it what you put into it. The only way that outsourcing really works, in my opinion, is if you’re genuinely prepared to invest, to truly regard them as an extension to your team, and to treat them like staff members who work in a remote location. If you do that, you will get the best out of them.

It requires a bit of hand-holding, but their project management is very proactive; if they don’t understand something, they will push it back to us and won’t go into development without getting an approval.

We primarily use email and Skype on occasion. They primarily use Agile methodology for their internal practices, which is what they recommend as a first step. They are very flexible when working with clients, and for us sometimes it is Waterfall.

They have a wide spectrum of skill sets across the agency. Their most impressive assets are their technical knowledge and their people. It has been awesome working with them.

They were very easy to deal with. They actually offered us daily updates during the development process, which we didn’t need. When it came to testing, they were fast to turn work around and deal with any issues. We were really impressed with their speed, and it was a very positive experience.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I have nothing to compare them to because it's the first time we outsourced work in that way. But you do hear stories of bad experiences with outsourcing, and that was absolutely not the case. The team is very professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

We now have no glitches in marketing to our retail customers. Finally, our distributor sales/website sales are all funneled into one place. This makes my job a lot easier. Their project management was one of the most effective and responsive I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We conducted weekly progress meetings every Monday. This kept me in the loop while keeping the team connected with my needs. We used Skype and communicated constantly throughout the project. One of my team members set up a Trello account and they communicated big projects changes on that.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We always had direct lines of communication with everyone we worked with. This helped us to feel safe in the development environment. If I had a question, there was no concern over who to call; it was just a matter of who would answer the question first. How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

We have our own project management so don’t use their project manager much. Most of the work is done directly with the developers. I communicate with the Android developer via Skype or Skype chat to specify exactly what’s required for the next stage of work. He communicates that on to the iOS developer. We don’t have a regularly scheduled call but the people we deal with are highly responsive. In terms of getting things done and responding to queries and requests, it’s always been done on time and within scope.

In the very beginning, there were some issues with communication and how we set the process up to get the project underway. Once that was established fairly quickly, everything has worked. From where we were four years ago to where we are today, it works seamlessly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we started working with CCT, it was really a matter of costs for us. Having said that, the quality of work that's coming out is second to none. We'd be happily working with them for many years to come.

I had never used an external provider before. To me, they're like an in-house development team, regardless of them sitting 7000 miles away from where we are. That’s the greatest compliment I could pay. I think the unique selling point for them is that they’re flexible even though we’re working in an outsourced manner. They’re accessible in terms of communication and in terms of getting work done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of a single thing they should change. They work well with us and we have a very good relationship. I'm extremely happy with their performance so far.

The reason I think we've worked very well with CCT is that I'm a developer myself. Communication Crafts has worked on an editorial content platform, taking its material from two in-flight magazines. The purpose of it is primarily to provide brand building and brand awareness among existing and potential customers of the airline. There is a secondary requirement of promoting destinations within the content to drive ancillary ticket sales. 

Communication Crafts’ involvement was as a digital build team. My company conducted all the strategy, user experience, and user interface work providing them with initial prototypes and Photoshop files which they then converted into a workable WordPress CMS.

What is the team composition?

There were at least 4–5 people involved with the project at different stages including a developer.

How did you come to work with Communication Crafts?

They sent us their outbound marketing, received by my CEO and myself several months before we engaged them. I get a lot of these approaches, so what helped Communication Crafts to stand out was that they provided a whole range of services, creative as well as digital outsourcing. They were the right people in the right place at the right time. We use other outsourced providers for different technologies including Sitecore and Umbraco, but, at the time, Communication Crafts came across as a credible option.

How much have you invested with them?

One particular project we’ve done with them was approximately £5,000 [$6,500]. There have been a couple of other ad hoc projects on a smaller scale. We’ve used their QA testing facilities on a couple of occasions for another £2,000–£3,000 [$2,500–$4,000].

Communication Crafts performed their service as advertised. Their service and communication ethic is very good. They were always prompt to reply to our emails, and, in general, did what we asked. They investigated particular items and got back to us if there was an issue. We occasionally asked for things, and they would be misplaced or not addressed, but there was a lot going on. We were asking a lot of questions, and there were multiple email threads running concurrently. By and large, I would say that their service was excellent. The few things which were missed were sorted out in the end.

How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?

The project was handled across three time zones. The Communication Crafts team is in India, and we had one team in Hong Kong and one in London. With lots of people working at different times, we couldn’t have done it over the phone.

We didn’t use any project management tools and didn’t have a formal project manager assigned from our side. Everything was done through email and Google Docs, which worked fine. The development used the waterfall approach. The work was generally done on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very cost-effective, which is a major reason why companies like ours use teams like Communication Crafts in India. Having said this, we wouldn’t be using them if they didn’t also provide a good service and speed of turnaround. Altogether, they provide a good package of service and cost-efficiency.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communication Crafts told me that they spent much longer on the project than they’d budgeted for, but they didn’t ask for more money and they didn’t warn us that we were going over the allocated hours. If there is one piece of feedback I’d give them, it’s that they need to give regular updates on the burn of the budget as we’re going through it.

They could improve by being more communicative about hours and budget consumed.

It’s commonplace for Western companies working with outsourced teams in India to make sure that there are good communicators on either side. If you have two people on either side who know what the business objectives are and who can keep things on track along with clear goals and documentation, everything will be good.

The challenge is to get quality programming done in an expedient manner.

Communication Crafts have worked on multiple projects for me. I'll typically ask if the solution can be built on WordPress and they'll advise me that in some cases it would be better to go with another option. They’ll use CAKE, Laravel, Linux, Apache, or PHP.

Probably the most complex program was for a client that offers hundreds, maybe thousands, of chemical products that they distribute. They were looking to build a “Request a Quote” so that customers could assemble a quote based on chemical name, available quantities or packaging sizes available, etc. Communication Crafts were able to successfully put together a shopping cart-style “Request a Quote” building form that addressed a complex set of requirements.

I have an account manager assigned to me and a production manager that I work with. On occasion, I also deal directly with the programmer(s) working on a project plus some administrative personnel for the bookkeeping. I typically deal with 3-5 people on each product but it may just be one. It depends on the scope of the project.

While we previously used paper-based lesson plans, we wanted to build a digital platform to host our content.


**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We went to them with the initial idea, to condense our Word document plans into simpler, graphical content with minimal text for the web. We went back and forth on specifications, and they ultimately built the platform using PHP. They paid special attention to flexibility so that we could expand and make changes in the future.
We decided to use a preexisting framework, which Communication Crafts then customized for our purposes. They built our lesson plan editing tool using various plugins, and created a color-coded online library to organize our content. The platform also includes a login function for our customers, who are allowed to draft lesson plans through the editing tool or adapt our own.
They also work alongside our internal team to provide marketing services, ensuring our promotional content works in harmony with the platform. They created our website and brochures, and assisted in the development of our social media strategies.
Our platform is currently in its fifth version, and we continue to expand the product.
What is the team composition?
We were assigned a project manager and QA tester, as well as frontend and backend developers. Overall, around 22 people have worked on our project.
How did you come to work with Communication Crafts?
As a startup, we had a limited amount of funds and needed to find a cost-effective vendor. Local agencies were too expensive, so we began to consider offshore options. Communication Crafts had approached me a few months prior, so we decided to contact them.
We sent them our initial specifications and they responded within 72 hours. The caliber of their questions proved they had the necessary experience. They offered a reasonable quote, so we hired them and haven’t looked back.
How much have you invested with them?
About £90,000 since engaging with CC in 2015. That includes both IT development and marketing.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started in March 2015 and our relationship is ongoing. We're preparing to sign another six-month resource contract which will be increased as needed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We initially hired Communication Crafts to create a proof of concept to help us enter the marketplace. They went above and beyond, providing a fully-functioning first version platform.
We have a solid relationship built on understanding. As we continue to work together, our specs require less and less description because their team intuitively knows what we want.
How did Communication Crafts perform from a project management standpoint?
I don’t have to hold their hand. We write our specifications in a document or an email and go back and forth with any questions. From here, tasks are placed on a prioritized list for completion. Even if a deliverable isn’t 100% perfect, they’re highly responsive to feedback and make adjustments until we’re satisfied. They meet deadlines and provide detailed invoices at the end of each month.
We use Skype on a daily basis, which they use to ask any additional questions that arise. I know they use project management tools like Jira with other clients, but they work around our communication preferences.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The most impressive thing to me is that they really consider themselves a part of our organization. They understand who we are as a business, as individuals, and put in the work to ensure our goals are met. Their flexible solutions will allow us to grow and push our company forward.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Prices can never be low enough, but we get great value for our money. We’ve had a long journey with them, and their ability to understand our business is worth a lot. We’re frequently propositioned by other vendors, but even when offering lower costs, it’s not worth sacrificing our partnership with Communication Crafts.

There may be cultural differences, but as long as you’re very detailed with your spec descriptions, they’ll deliver. Provide as much information as you can, including diagrams, illustrations, and photographs, so they have a clear understanding of how you envision the project.
