**The Review** — Jun 25, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen delivered high-quality work. Independent and smart, their team demonstrated how knowledgeable they are in web development. They worked closely with their partners and were highly organized, resulting in a smooth engagement.
"“They share their ideas with us and are eager to develop the best solution.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of IT at Elanders GmbH, a printing and logistics company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

In Germany, it’s hard to find proper developers in web-based development. We were looking into nearshoring or offshoring our development resources

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They offer us web development support.

What is the team composition?

There are two full-time developers.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

We found them in a Google search. We looked at a few companies, but Andersen was overwhelming in how they presented themselves and how good they were in development.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent €90,000-100,000 (approximately $100,000–$112,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2019 and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quantity of the work is really great. The people are very well educated and perform really well.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via Slack and Skype. Most of the communication with the developers is in English but we’re very happy that our main contact there also speaks perfect German.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The developers were fully integrated with our development team within a few days. They didn’t need to be told what to do explicitly. They use their own brains and are interested in creating really great solutions for us.

They’re not only workers for us but they’re real team members. They share their ideas with us and are eager to develop the best solution. They’re really a great addition to our team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we’re totally satisfied with them. We’re thinking about hiring 2–3 more people but it’s currently on hold because of COVID-19.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It was all so well organized. We also flew them into Germany for a kickoff event for one week. The best advice would be to listen to them. They do everything for you.

VP Quality Management, Process Automation Software

- Client size: 51-200 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Jun 9, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen had delivered high-quality work. The team is adaptable and often asks follow-up questions to ensure a top-notch result. They came up with several ways to effectively utilize Jira and streamline their workflow.
"“They have a very good ability to adapt to the processes of our company.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of Quality Management for a process automation software.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We needed development support.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They provide the main part of development as well as quality management and involvement in product management.

What is the team composition?

There are 12 people.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

They distributed a movie and wrote an email to my supervisor. We were impressed with the movie. They spoke very good German and were very promising.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2018 and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their quality is high-level. They do reviews themselves. I’m very satisfied. The quality of the developers is dependent on the input that we have here. From time to time, the input isn’t ideal and then they have to ask more questions. As soon as they ask, they deliver high quality.

They have a very good ability to adapt to the processes of our company. They’re very good at improving processes. They helped us a lot with the basics here.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They come up with ideas on how we can work better together in Jira. We were suffering a little bit low on project management. They’re getting better. As we give them new requirements all the time, they couldn’t keep the original estimated target dates. We use a Scrum framework and it’s becoming better. The estimations are rather good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They improved the quality of the product and added new features to the product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes the programmers’ English could be better. In the beginning, we had only a few programmers whose English was a little poor, but training helped improve that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The better you prepare the project, the better they can take part, anticipate, and implement the product you have. Be very prepared with having very good specifications available. The development is rather quick and able to understand. Treat the team as your own team.

Development Manager, eurofunk Kappacher
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 501-1,000 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — May 27, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen has been a supportive and flexible partner, adapting their methods and data centers to align with the current global events. Throughout the process, they have made themselves easily accessible. Their project management is seamless and their talent works with the business requirements.
""Andersen is very active in supporting us."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the development manager at eurofunk Kappacher, an emergency dispatch center.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We needed remote development support.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Andersen provides development support. They augment our team with remote developers. We have local developers in all the teams, as well as product owners and scrum masters. Requirement management and project management are done on our side.

What is the team composition?

We have a team of seven individuals spread out over three teams. Most of them are software developers. We also have one DevOps engineer.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

My predecessors found them through an online search. Andersen had a very good availability of talent, and they were very cooperative. We also found the whole process of negotiating the legal framework worked very well for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent 300,000 € (approximately $329,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2018, and our engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Andersen is very active in supporting us. They’re constantly in touch and checking if everything is going alright. With the COVID-19 situation, when we switched to more comprehensive teleworking overall, they doubled their effort.

There’s been a very good response to the situation on their part. We had some technical issues and the team made some adjustments to their data centers, which worked out quite well. We managed to get their IT teammates and ours to work together to eliminate whatever network problems we had.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

We work in an agile framework, so we have daily standup meetings. The teams manage themselves to a large extent. Andersen’s account manager is always around, and so is the office manager for the developers.

It’s a flawless process. The management communication is mostly done via email, which is convenient because I have lots of meetings. We also have video call tools set up with the developers.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Andersen continues to have readily available talent, which is important because we’re a growing company and we’re scaling up. They work with our requirements and qualification profiles.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re doing team augmentation with them which means we carry the risk associated with managing the teams. The tools, the process coaches, and the product design is ours. We’ve had some discussions surrounding how long we can take to decide who we want to hire and how long it takes for that whole process.

From initial selection, the confirmation that the candidate is someone we want to work with is about two weeks. We take about two weeks to create the administrative stuff and build them up in ERP and IT until we have the remote desktop machine and everything set up.

These four weeks have sort of been a point of contention and have led to a bit of pressure occasionally. However, it’s not a big issue.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work out details and high-quality qualification profiles. Andersen seems to have the talent to match the requests quite well.

We ordered a pilot project from them. The project took about three months and now we’re finalizing it. The first project was based on a fixed price. After this, we took another month to add some features. As a pilot, it had no documentation from our side.

What is the team composition?

There are developers, a scrum master, and QA person.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

After interviewing developers from the company, it became clear that they really knew what to do. We tried to cooperate with them on another project before this, but their estimation was too expensive for us as a startup. We hired someone else, but when we required another tool, the offer from Andersen was more suitable.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about €30,000 (approximately $30,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2020 and the work is ongoing. We’ve suspended it for a time due to COVID-19 but plan to start up again in the summer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m very happy with the cooperation. They gave me the right balance between the developers and the QA people. I’m happy to continue with them. They explained a lot of things and why it’s better to do it certain ways.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They work in a scrum methodology. They were good with scheduling and meeting deadlines. One time they understood they were going slightly out of scope and arranged additional developers to outline the timeline. It was done without any questions from us. The project was put back on time. Their work was done really professionally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They finished their work on time and the quality was good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes the resources would change in the project. The QA person was replaced and during the middle of the project, their scrum master took another position. I think they could have found resources who could be on the project the entire time. On the other hand, the team was very small. It wasn’t a big problem to manage the directors because they were quite advanced and it wasn’t necessary to micromanage them. There was a gap in their work but it had no impact.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re flexible with all the agreements. Don’t tell them that you won’t cooperate with them on the first impression or the price. It’s possible to find an agreement.

""The project managment and communication, in general, were outstanding."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

The TUI Group is the largest leisure, travel and tourism company in the world. I am Technical Lead in the Digital Sales Platforms department of the German subsidiary “TUI Deutschland”.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

We hired an Andersen team to develop several Microfrontends, administration tools and middleware services for our sales platform.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to hire a reliable near-shore team to take over peripheral tasks, allowing the internal teams to focus more on the core functionality of the platform.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Besides cost, our main requirements were:

We wanted a vendor who would be able to staff skilled developers in different technologies on short notice.
They were expected to integrate with our highly agile workflow.
We prefered near-shoring to reduce timezone-offsets.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

We started the cooperation with the development of one internal service and a small team. As our general way of work is agile, we had only a “lightweight” kick-off, and then had the team work on user stories from our backlog, moderated by our own Product Owner. With time, we gave the team additional products to develop, using the same mode of collaboration.

What was the team composition?

Over the entire time of the engagement, we had two to five developers on the team, depending on the requirements at a given time. On top of that, without additional cost, Andersen provided a project manager as well as several supporters in the background for QA and documentation.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As we outsourced several peripheral projects to Andersen, we could put a lot more focus on the core platform functionality. This resulted in more speed, faster delivery and more features. This may not sound impressive, but to our customers (and our top management) it was significant.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was one of the greatest experiences with Andersen, on several levels. First, they assigned a highly-skilled PM to the project who was able to understand business requirements, manage the team and drive the implementation.

But what was even greater: As we iteratively established a highly agile way of work, the PM stepped back from an active, „push-style“ management into a more lateral role where she acted rather as team manager and Agile Coach. She even took a Scrum Master training and was able to fill exactly the role which we want to see in such a setup. We also appreciate that this transition was backed by the Andersen management.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There are several aspects make Andersen the right choice in hindsight. The project managment and communication, in general, were outstanding. PM and devs were always very responsive, we knew what everyone was working on and how their progress was.

At the same time, the Andersen team worked in a very self-reliant way, and we knew that our products were in good hands. Another thing which I personally find astonishing is that Andersen has code reviewers and testers in the background, and writes a lot of documentation, without additional cost.

Are there any areas for improvement?

In general, we are very satisfied with Andersen, and we would definitely hire them again in the future. Of course, we all had to learn a few things over the course of our collaboration.

Luckily, all parties were open for that. Maybe Andersen could train their developers a bit more in things like agile practice, communication skills, solution-oriented thinking etc. … this would allow agile projects to benefit from these skills from the beginning.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m impressed by the fact that the developers are not only smart but also professional. They are technically able to do the job. The team is always able to deliver, which has to do with the culture of Andersen as a company.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They are goal-driven and deliver quality work on time. It was easy to incorporate them into our project management because they’re predictable. We communicate via Skype, and we also use Bitbucket to discuss code.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a support structure to help you find your strengths and provide additional input and assistance.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I have no suggestions.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re only using their developers, make sure the other aspects, such as DevOps and analysis, are professional. They need to match so you get the most out of your investment.

""They can provide different types of specialists relatively quickly."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of software development for the parent company of multiple financial services businesses in the Balkan region, including Albania, Macedonia, and Bosnia. Each of these businesses has its own software that needs to be maintained and developed further. We’ve collaborated with Andersen on one of these projects.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We have a fully functional outsourced IT development team at Andersen, including developers, QA, and administration.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re using PHP developers from Andersen. They’re responsible for one of our projects in its entirety. They’re not providing any other services. As of now, they’re just a full-service software development provider.

What is the team composition?

We started with a team of five people, but we’ve grown to 11.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

We found them through another company from Latvia who had experience working with Andersen.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between €400,000–€500,000 ($438,000–$550,000 USD) so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Andersen in September or October 2018, and it’s ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t work with them on a project basis. Basically, the Andersen team is working for us fulltime. They have no other responsibilities; we consider them employees, and they participate in our daily routines. We’ve grown the team and continued to work with them, so we’re satisfied.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re precise in meeting deadlines, and they have high-quality internal mechanisms for controlling and managing their employees. They’re also professional and quick to react when the team needs a change, update, or evaluation. Their internal procedures are on a satisfactory level to me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

As a client, the thing I like the most about them is that they’re very quick to react when I need a particular resource, either a new specialist or a replacement. They can provide different types of specialists relatively quickly because they have a large pool of resources to choose from.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing specific that comes to mind. Everything is on the level.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It depends on the type of project and team. If they need to integrate Andersen into their own team, I’d suggest that the client conduct personnel interviews themselves. In that case, don’t only ask them to find specialists, but also perform interviews and see if the individual resources will be a good fit for their team or not. That’s one of the things we did, and it worked out pretty well. Other than that, I don’t have anything particular. It’s the same as working with any other outsourced company.

We have implemented a number of major improvements in almost all of our applications. With the help of Andersen we were able to fully development a new software architecture in which all our applications are currently running as they are being used by all our customers (12000+ users).

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We are developing Agile / Scrum with 2 week sprints. Sometimes with updates on the live environment every week.

We have Skype contact with Vita, our developer, every day. We discuss the order of items on a daily basis and Vita has always been very flexible working on high priority issues (blockers) when they occur.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What we're most happy about is the quick and easy way in which we're able to contact our developer. She's also a very flexible planner. We can quickly change our 'directions' based on high priority issues.

Further more we have seen a real growth in skills and knowledge of Vita, telling us that she's willing to invest in further improving herself and our project development.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As mentioned Vita has already improved much during our project. She tries to think ahead and think about linked functionalities between apps and the possible consequences when changing them.

The only thing that she could improve a little more is asking more information before starting on a task so that everything is 100% clear.

Product Owner, FTI
- Industry: Hospitality & leisure

- Client size: 5,001-10,000 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Jan 31, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen satisfied the requirements by delivering high-quality work and adhering to the budget and schedule. They helped define project goals and provided actionable insights. The team handled project management seamlessly and worked quickly to deliver the final product in just a few months.
"“They had a lot of knowledge, and they were willing to learn and investigate a lot to provide the best solutions.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a product owner at FTI, a travel company. We sell travel packages in Germany and other parts of Europe, including The Netherlands, France, Austria, and Switzerland. We also operate hotels, most of which are in Greece and North Africa, and provide rental cars and campers. We’re a large company of about 2,600 people. We have offices in Berlin, Switzerland, Egypt, and so on.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We have our own developers in Berlin, but we were selling a lot of products and, therefore, we had a lot of portals. We weren’t able to do everything internally. We needed to outsource some of our product development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We started a test phase with them with my product for selling travel packages and offers to our customers. The idea was to rebuild the site completely, but unfortunately, the project wasn’t approved from the business side.

Andersen supported daily business tasks and helped us launch a new product for football camps. On the backend, most of the development was on TYPO3, which is a well-known German CMS. I don’t know what they used on the frontend, but we looked at Vue.js and Node.js. Andersen used what was there from the old site. I think there was a lot done using PHP. We have our own UI/UX department, but Andersen did provide some design services.

What is the team composition?

We started the collaboration with one developer and ultimately worked with three developers, one QA tester, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

Our head of IT did some research. I don’t know how he found Andersen, but he decided to go with them in the end.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Andersen in August 2018, and we finished around November 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our product is really special and only available for a small target group. I don’t think it would be fair to measure Andersen’s work through any metrics from this site. Their work was very good and necessary. The site wasn’t as successful as we’d thought it would be, but it had nothing to do with the quality of their work.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

Andersen stuck to the schedule and budget, and they were always helpful in creating timelines and project goals. They worked really fast; I think we released the product in three and a half to four months.

They had some great ideas and very good knowledge of project management. We had a lot of meetings and workshops together. I visited them in Minsk, and they came to our Berlin department. Everything was well-defined on the project management side.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would work with them again, but we have more devs in Berlin now. I’d always recommend them, and I know that my colleague plans to engage Andersen for help on a mobile app.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything was good.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Andersen’s team was spread out between Ukraine and Saint Petersburg, and I was in Germany. It was sometimes hard to find the perfect time slot for everyone. The time difference is something that people looking to work with them should be aware of.

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Jan 27, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen provides excellent quality of work and leaves the partner happy. The team's customer service serves as a distinguishing factor against competitors. Although there are some difficulties with the time difference, Andersen excels at scheduling, communication, and meeting deadlines.
"“They’re very legit, and their customer service is excellent.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m one of the owners of Spackle. We’ve developed software within the commercial tenant improvements industry to solve the pain of ordering service work.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We hired Andersen to help us code for our commercial tenant improvements platform. They provide project management services and service work procural.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Using wireframes, Andersen developed proprietary software for us. It’s all original coding using Heroku, GitHub, Ruby on Rails, React, and React Native.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Nikita (Software Developer, Andersen) and Arthur (Supervisor, Andersen).

How did you come to work with Andersen?

We found them on Clutch. After interviewing five or six companies, Andersen seemed like the best fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested approximately $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in August 2019, and it’s ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s still too early for any metrics. However, my lead developer is happy with Andersen’s quality of work. There are no issues there.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been good with scheduling, communication, and meeting deadlines. I do struggle with the time difference between us and Ukraine though. Personally, I only have a couple of hours of overlap with them. I’m not very happy about that and find it to be a little challenging.

They do overlap with my lead developer who's in South America though. So, we make it work.

What did you find most impressive about them?
Andersen has really great customer service. They spend a lot of time reaching out to me and making sure I’m happy. They’ve made a couple of suggestions, hoping to get more velocity out of our in-house developer. However, that’d require that he give up a little bit of control, which he’s not willing to do at this point.

I’ve been so pleased with their team that I recommended them to a partner of mine. He has now hired three people from Andersen. They’re very legit, and their customer service is excellent.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At this point, no. It’s too early to fault them on anything. My learning curve is still on the upswing.

Everything is at a sufficient level. There are no obvious moments.

Our TRANSPOREON, TICONTRACT and MERCAREON platforms optimise transport logistics and the communication between industry, retailers, carriers, drivers and consignees. Our products are used to fully optimise economic and ecological aspects.

Currently I'm holding the position of 'Director Software Development' to which the areas core software development, enterprise integration development, quality management and user experience belong.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

At the beginning we were searching for a reliable and long-term partner to increase the man power of our test automation QA teams. As these experiences were very good we chose Andersen additionally also for enhancing the man power of our core development teams.

What were your goals for this project?

One of the teams in which Andersen was established significantly was the development of a new UI toolkit. Goal was to develop one from scratch, based on a new design system created by our UX team.

The new UI toolkit should comply fully with a new frontend macro architecture. Tech-usability, i. e. speed to develop new UIs with the toolkit should be very high.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We had been working with several partners in the past. Andersen contacted us and first contact was a visit in our office. We examined Andersen in detail and compared everything against other existing and potential vendors.

After that we chose Andersen for a relative small project at the beginning. After the positive experiences we then ramped-up significantly.

Andersen provides us very skilled software developers in a variety of technologies, e. g. Java, Angular, C#. Through this we were able to increase our existing teams.

What was the team composition?

As of now we are in the ramp-up phase. Currently 10 software developers from Andersen are involved. This will increase within the next ~ 3 months to 20.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Together with Andersen we were able to significantly increase the automation ratio for our core software modules. The development of our own UI toolkit became a very stable and reusable foundation.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The Andersen developers were fully integrated into our dev teams - except 3rd level support. Tools used were Jira, Git, Skype for business, Confluence. English skills were very good. Time difference from Germany to Belarus / Ukraine / Russia is with -2 hours in an acceptable range.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The project management on vendor side was extremely good. Proactive, regular, and open communication were established from the beginning.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The overall cooperation was very good. The only thing that could be a bit better is the flexibility in terms of ramp up such that developers belonging to one team would start together instead of now and then another one.

**Feedback Summary**: It's in the early stages, but results look promising. Their skilled expertise makes Andersen stand out from competitors. Their diligent project management approach complemented their effective workflow.
""They were passionate about the project and their work."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

We're a professional services firm offering advisory and investment services to our clients throughout their life-cycle. I work within the Technology Team as the Project and Product Manager for the business, with a Product Ownership role on this software development project.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

With only one Developer on staff, we hired a small team at Andersen to help us design and develop a product that we envision will further extend our capabilities in our market and deliver an innovative product that will streamline a very manual process.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals shifted over time since the Andersen Team was originally engaged to develop a different type of product - however after recognising that that opportunity was no longer as viable, we pivoted and refocused on a new direction.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Following research of the market both here and overseas, we selected Andersen based on skills, experience and cost.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They designed, developed and configured the product, collated all business requirements and managed the team using an agile methodology.

What was the team composition?

We had a BA, Project Manager, Front and Back End Developers, QA Team and a Designer for most of the project. Resources would shift with our requirements.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We're currently in UAT so it's too early to identify this at the moment.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The Project Management was very effective and helped keep the Team on track whilst allowing the Product Owner to focus on other areas. Since we are located in another country, video conferencing was most effective for our regular bi-weekly meetings. We also utilised Skype, Jira and Confluence.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Very diligent and conscientious. They were passionate about the project and their work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Sometimes things could get 'lost in translation' and there were times when communication perhaps wasn't seamless, but this is understandable given language differences. Both our team and the vendor perhaps didn't articulate ourselves adequately and this is when I preferred confirmation emails or meeting follow-up's to be written. Sometimes I wasn't sure if my feedback had been addressed or points in emails addressed and I would need to follow-up to check that the Team had been notified.

""The team is super positive and friendly that makes all the complications easy to solve."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the Lead Link of Business and Loyalty at Space Neo Bank. At Space, we focus on improving daily Business Banking experience.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

The need of collaboration raised after we decided to launch a brand new project for our potential customers. As we are still in the process of product implementing, we can’t name the project yet. The heart of our digital-based business is customer experience and that’s why it was crucially important to find a development company that had strong background both in mobile application development and UI/UX design.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal is to launch brand-new services and products for our potential customers.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We are in the process of the development of MVP. The MVP includes variety of products and features, needed for a successful launch.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The team is involved in each process that is crucial for the launch: Project Management, Business Analysis, Backend development, Frontend Development (iOS, Android), UX/UI Design.

What was the team composition?

The team composition is the following.

Scrum Master
	Frontend Developers
	Backend Developer
	UX/UI Designer
	Business Analyst
	Quality Assurance Manager

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As the project is still ongoing I can't provide any information regarding the impact.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The team is very flexible and easily adaptive to changing business needs and requirements. Project is managed with Agile Scrum methodology and we have meetings on a regular basis to discuss and solve all the open questions and help each other. Project management is impressive - The team is super organized, always meets deadlines and ის never late on standups or other meetings. We communicate through Jira, Skype, WhatsApp, and Mail.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team is super positive and friendly that makes all the complications easy to solve. Also, one of the most impressive things about Andersen Lab is that the entire team has full dedication to work they are doing. In the Agile process, where decisions are changed rapidly in the process, Andersen Lab team used to react patiently to every single change.

Although the team’s task is mostly implementation of our requirements, they often do the extra mile and involve in the ideation process as well. I can outline several cases in which the team offered a better solution for a certain task, that we took into consideration. As a product owner, I have a feeling that the team is fully motivated to satisfy the customer. Our partnership is collaborative, transparent, and honest, which is not something you usually get.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Every single obstacle or dissatisfaction is being stated out during the bi-weekly retrospective meetings. This kind of attitude helps us to solve every problem from the very beginning. So, for now, we have nothing to improve in either the process or the working relationship.

**The Review** — Dec 6, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Anderson managed to bring the two products beyond the MVP stage, and the solutions have become the cornerstones of the company's service offering. With such a strong performance, Anderson has remained on contract in support and development role, and they often provide invaluable insights.
""From a development standpoint, the code quality was high, and they were involved and highly motivated to contribute."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

We're one of the world's leading specialists in the field of data-driven business technologies. We're trusted by global market leaders across a wide variety of industries, including automotive, consumer goods, and ICT. We also offer a growing portfolio of AI-powered business intelligence solutions.

At our locations in Berlin, Beijing, and Munich, around a hundred data scientists, creative strategists, futurologists, consultants and designers share a common vision: to explore the unexplored in our data-driven world. In my role as CTO I supervise all product- and development-related work.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

We hired Andersen to extend our development capabilities for two of our products. As our internal capacities were already fully committed, we required additional development skills for web frontend and backend work.

What were your goals for this project?

Develop, extend and maintain a scalable, userfriendly and performant data-driven platform. New developers had to be onboarded into the existing code (ReactJS, Angular, Ruby, MongoDB), architecture, and agile Scrum processes.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Selection process included quality and cost considerations. Each developer from Andersen underwent interviews and a code challenge, before being accepted into the project.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The product was already past MVP stage and needed further feature development, maintenance, and support. Extensive documentation and onboarding was provided as part of the process.

Development followed Scrum methodology, and developers participated actively in all ceremonies. Management of development was handled inhouse (Product Owner, Scrum Master, UX), and developers aligned as part of development teams on technical details.

Generally, developers were also involved in technical feedback and evaluation of new feature suggestions in a very early state, and were able (and encouraged) to propose their own ideas. Typical tasks included coding, code reviews, architecture alignments, Scrum ceremony participation.

What was the team composition?

Product development consisted of 3 teams, with about 6 developers (3x web frontend, 3x backend) and 1 QA engineer. There were 1 dedicated PO and SCM for all 3 teams. Teams were nearshoring located primarily in Central Europe. Chat and video conferencing was used for alignment.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The products that were developed are now the cornerstones extending our service portfolio. We extended work orders over years to keep development velocity and quality. Results exceeded our expectations, and feedback from our clients on the solutions is very positive.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was handled inhouse, not by development partner.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

From a development standpoint, the code quality was high, and they were involved and highly motivated to contribute to our products. They are very acute and aware of any impact a proposed implementation approach could have. We received valuable insights and suggestions from them.

On an account management level, we received fast and reliable feedback on any of our queries, and our (spontaneous) requests were met to our full satisfaction.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is very little to improve. Approval procedure as legally required by their government is a bit cumbersome but out of their control.

Engineering & Product Manager, Greenwald Industries
- Industry: Information technology

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Nov 14, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen has fostered a positive customer experience by meeting expectations and delivering work that garners high praise from end-users. Their expertise goes beyond standard mobile app development to include Bluetooth communication and product-device connectivity. The team communicates seamlessly.
"“The takeaway is whether we’re still using them, and we are.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the engineering and product manager at Greenwald Industries, a division of The Eastern Company. We’re in the commercial laundry market, although we target other markets as well. We began in the coin-operated laundry space and then moved into card-based systems. We’re currently shifting to phone apps and IoT.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We hired Andersen to help us with app development. We had phone apps from a previous product that needed some refreshing, and we also needed assistance with new development efforts.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Generally, my team puts together marketing requirements, documents, and system architecture specs, and Andersen runs with the design using those materials as a reference. We have a couple of working models with them. The first is ongoing maintenance, where Andersen works with our iOS and Android apps to do minor bug fixes or enhance features. We have an old iOS app written in Objective-C, and Andersen is in the process of redesigning that and porting it to Swift. They develop our Android apps using Java. This is a slow-rolled approach and keeps costs down.

The second working model covers new development that we need to move on quickly. They’ve helped us create a whole new approach to doing a render lists module on a machine and having the phone be the UI and network connection to the outside world. They also created different app designs for customers and administrative users. The app takes different forms based on login credentials. For instance, it gives administrators the ability to set up machines, load firmware, or do physical collections of money from the machine.

Andersen does testing to ensure that the devices they’re developing work with our products. We had them purchase reference systems and then provided them with firmware to run on those systems that would emulate the actual devices. In this regard, they’re doing more than just app development; their work is somewhat specialized because they need to understand how to communicate with the Bluetooth stack. They’ve been able to get us past the hurdles we’ve found along the way.

What is the team composition?

They assign teams to our projects. We work with a project manager, an architect, developers, and QA people. For the newer development projects that we do with Andersen, they generally provide bigger teams.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

I did an internet search and came across many different phone app development companies, and Andersen’s name was at the top of the list. We’d been using some local phone app development firms but found that Andersen had a better team and quality approach, so we decided to hire them.

How much have you invested with them?

Our monthly invoices vary.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them for a couple of years now, and we’re engaging them with new stuff right now. We’re constantly reinventing ourselves, and Andersen is there to help us out along the way.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Things come out pretty much as expected, so we’ve been happy with them. We’ve had very good commentary from our customers about everything.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

We have weekly meetings and communicate via email numerous times a day, so we always know what’s going on. They’re good about putting other project managers in place if one is on vacation so that things don’t stop.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The takeaway is whether we’re still using them, and we are.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, probably not. I’ve leveraged this company and others to have pair programming, but it’s skewed by time zones. This is helpful because we can do continuous development and testing. One of the key ways to reduce scheduling is to have development happening not just for eight hours each day, but for 24.

Any advice for potential customers?

Have good requirements and stay in communication.

**The Review** — Nov 12, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: All of Andersen’s demos have gone really well, and the MVP is scheduled to be completed ahead of schedule and below budget. The team is organized and dedicated to delivering a high-quality product. Happy with the collaboration so far, their partners plan to establish an ongoing partnership.
"“They have a strong grasp of what we want and are really engaged in the project.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of a startup rideshare platform.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

I came up with the business concept for our web app, but don’t have a technical background. So, we brought in Andersen to complete our development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I conceptualized how the app would work, the UX, and the business concept, but they created an architecture diagram to demonstrate how it would work. Once we were happy with the design, they began developing the app, ensuring that the app was scalable and robust enough to integrate with our large partners. The platform is hosted on AWS, and they developed the backend using Java, and the frontend using React.

What is the team composition?

There are five people working on the project full-time and one person who works part-time.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

They were recommended to me by the CTO of a large company who praised their technical capabilities.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about €65,000  (approx. $75,000).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in June 2019 and it is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our MVP is on track to be completed by the end of the month, ahead of schedule and under budget. They’ve gone beyond the requirements we outlined at the beginning of the project. By challenging what I asked them to do and proposing even better solutions than what I imagined, they’ve created a product we’re really happy with.

They continue to develop new pipelines and test for bugs. Although we don’t have a final product yet, all of their demos have been great. We’ve been really impressed by their work and plan to keep developing a strategic partnership with them.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

They worked in sprints, and they’ve hit their target for almost every sprint. They’ve only allowed tasks to roll over into the next sprint twice, and it hasn’t impacted the amount of work they complete. We have daily calls, and I can always contact them on Skype. Our project manager continuously updates Jira and provides us with cost breakdowns.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a strong grasp of what we want and are really engaged in the project. Their ability to understand our challenges and deliver solutions surpasses all of the other development companies I’ve worked with.

At the beginning of our engagement, I expected to face communication challenges because English isn’t their first language. However, we haven’t had any issues.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing they need to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start development. We’ve already recommended them to other startups.

""The project manager quickly escalated emerging problems to bring about a quick resolution."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

We are developing a platform for carrying out motivation and loyalty programs for our customers. The platform provides functionality for planning, organizing, conducting and monitoring the implementation of such programs, as well as customizing for each individual client. I occupy the position of a leading specialist in the development department.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

Andersen’s task was to finalize the terms of reference for the implementation of the platform, directly develop according to the terms of reference, taking into account the changes we made, test and stabilize. Since 2018, Andersen developers are involved in the form of a support, make ongoing changes, customize for new customers and eliminate detected bugs.

What were your goals for this project?

Quick start of the project, flexibility in setting up functionality, supportability, following good practices in writing code, scalability. It was also critically important for us that Andersen deliver all the required functionality within the time frames indicated by us.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Andersen's representative contacted our management through LinkedIn, and we have been communicating periodically since then. Before starting the project, we collected proposals from potential vendors, and Andersen offered the best price / quality ratio, and also committed ourselves to deadlines.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Andersen’s team developed a technical solution for the platform, we agreed on the project methodology used (SCRUM, two-week sprints), reporting, and communication.

After that, development began. The back-end part of the application (php, Symfoni, Bitrix) and the front-end part (html, css, jquery) were implemented. Implemented application integration with payment and accounting systems.

What was the team composition?

From the very beginning, a business analyst participated in the approval process and then in the current process. The development was carried out by a team of two back-end developers and two full-stack developers. Two manual testers also worked.

Andersen also highlighted project manager (PM) with a technical background, which was actively involved in the development process and carried out constant communication with us.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The application was made quickly enough, which allowed us to attract a wide range of customers who were waiting for the application to launch and expand our cooperation. Integration with the accounting system provided us with control over the movement of goods that we sold through the developed platform.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The Andersen PM allocated from the side was technically educated, which allowed us to quickly coordinate technical solutions, as well as to keep us up to date with everything that happens during the development process.

The team was also motivated, and we are pleased with the level of formulation of the processes and skills of the PM allocated for this project. The PM quickly escalated emerging problems to bring about a quick resolution.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Competitive rates, speed of response to questions, level of developers and domain expertise in our area. Plus the fast speed of submitting the candidates we requested.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything is fine at the moment.

""The team is always on time and dedicated to the project."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

OurCnC company was established in 2015. From the very beginning, the main concept of a product was to create a platform for peer-to-peer car sharing. After OurCnC started cooperating with Europcar in 2016, the new concept of white-label platform for a car rental was created. For now, the main strategy of OurCnC is to sell IPR (intellectual property rights) for its platform for the customer’s company and make all other functions outsourced. I am President of the Company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

In the last years, a lot of car rental or car-sharing services created special apps to provide car renting via smartphone. I came to Andersen for creating the same solution - a good app for renting cars which many companies could use. It should have been a clear system that can be customized according to the special requirements of every company. It should be flexible and well-organized, with a very small time of implementation, so the company-customer only needs to create a design template to get a working product.

What were your goals for this project?

Create the most convenient platform for International Car-Rental companies. Application and Management Panel

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Andersen team was fully involved in the development process to create a Mobile App for IOS and Android and a web Management panel system. We started everything from scratch 3,5 years ago and all this time the company has been providing all the specialists needed to create documentation and design, manage the development process, create a product and test its quality. We have very strong communication during all these years and the team is always very flexible and well-organized.

Describe the project in detail.

React Native application and management panel From scratch to end. We outsourced all the development work. SRS was based for Car-rental companies needs.

What was the team composition?

This project was started with the team partially from Andersen and partially from Finnish freelancers. But during the project’s growth I found out that Andersen’s team is really effective and we came to the full team from Andersen. Currently, it is 2 developers full-time, QA, BA, and PM are part-time. We suppose to continue work with this team for a long time.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With Andersen, we created a new well-working product that OurCnC will base marketing politics on. We paired up with a big car rental company for developing and piloting this product and got great reviews. Now we are planning to go to the market with the result of this project and get more customers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Andersen provided very talented project managers, they keep up to approved development plan, so all functionality is made on time, create clear reports and have very good communication skills and fluent English. We use Jira as a tracking system, Skype and Slack as tools for communication with the team. All processes are well-organized and performed correctly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team is always on time and dedicated to the project. They help to improve the product.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

One of the services we offer our customers is a command-line tool (CLI tool) that enables easy access to our API. The objective of Andersen was to develop a new version of the CLI tool from scatch.

What were your goals for this project?

The new developed CLI tool had to support all endpoints of our API. It had to be implemented using Golang and be inline with the modern CLI tool command syntax.

**SOLUTION**

**The Review** — Sep 26, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Their skilled expertise supplemented ongoing engagement and partnership. The team at Andersen is communicative and responsive. They act as part of the team, going above & beyond. Their professionalism is top-notch as well.
""Andersen maintains a constant flow of engineers that are ready and willing to jump into work for a company."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Luno is a crypto exchange that’s mostly distributed throughout the world. Our engineering and operations team is based in Cape Town and our head office is in London.

Our platform is for people that want to buy cryptocurrencies in a safe, secure manner. We are a custodial exchange that takes away a lot of the complexity that comes with interacting with currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We have a relatively new and open-sourced architecture, and our backend language is Go. Globally, the popularity of Go far exceeds the number of engineers who actually have experience with it. We hired Andersen because they had a good bench of Go resources that we needed on the backend engineering side. The second consideration was that, equally, on the Android side, finding engineers with Kotlin experience was harder than expected. Andersen was again able to solve this problem for our team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We’d had 1–2 months of interaction before they gave us engineers. At the time of engagement, we had a few people on our Android and backend teams. The vision of the architecture, the direction of the product, and features build-out were on our side. Bringing Andersen on was initially about ramping up an ongoing project.

Their team first needed to understand our architecture. Initially, our engagement was spent on getting their engineers to know our environment and making sure they understand the crypto space, beyond just engineering specs. Since there aren’t many crypto exchanges around, our rules of operation aren’t widely known.

We found that engineers started running their own projects quickly, taking complete ownership of developing bank integrations and payment aggregators.

On the Android side, the engineers spent their time rewriting our app in Kotlin. They became a significant contributor to our platform team.

What is the team composition?

We started with two people. At the moment, we’re working with six engineers. On top of that, I’ve been in touch with the account manager and someone on the technical side. I believe 1–2 others came and went along the way. At one point, they tried providing a project manager to assist with coordination during the initial ramp-up phase. They handle the account management, while we are focused on the project management coordination.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

In December 2017, Bitcoin’s price was driving our customer numbers at a rapid pace, and we needed contingency in our engineering capacity. The markets were going wild, and we were preparing for a massive capacity increase. I went on LinkedIn and researched the Go experience. Andersen came out on top.

As far as LinkedIn statistics go, they had the most engineers. I interacted with several organizations capable of providing competent engineers. Out of all the organizations, Andersen sent the most CVs, and could actually prove their skillset. After researching more, we went with Andersen because they delivered on what they promised.

How much have you invested with them?

Andersen has a “risk-free” model, by which we were given a few engineers to test out for a few weeks. We knew from the start that we would need 4–6 months’ worth, and jumped into a fairly economic hourly rate of $32. This depending on their seniority. All other costs for travel were on our side, which we decided to incur to get the team to our offices for initial onboarding.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around two years ago.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Andersen is currently our only contingent supplier. They’ve taken on very big projects, moving quickly. Despite having engineers in different countries, communication has been great. We run an agile framework, measuring it by cadence or velocity, but their biggest asset to me is that they take ownership of projects and communicate directly with some of our third-party integrators.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

Since we’ve insourced them into our existing team, we manage them. Running in Agile, we’ve integrated all six of Andersen’s engineers into our teams. We treat them as our own.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When it comes to general communication, the team at Andersen is extremely professional. Through meetings with their account managers where we discuss issues and concerns, I’ve gotten the impression that they invest in their engineers's personal development.

I have 22 years of engineering experience, and, in the early days, I did work with a lot of teams in India. A lot of the companies had an associate system with strong career paths. The deliverables were done with the utmost professionalism.

Andersen works very similarly to that model. They treat their engineers like associates. Since they’re a large organization, I imagine that they’re at the point where this is the only way that they can scale. On day one, we started with two people, and have grown within the last year.

Whenever I need to add another member, the speed at which they source their bench is pretty remarkable. Andersen maintains a constant flow of engineers that are ready and willing to jump into work for a company. It can be tough to find quality Android engineers around the globe. They have a good contact pool of expert engineers because they moved quickly when I asked for seniors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

While we predominantly use Slack, we do have videoconferencing. Sometimes there is a language barrier during face-to-face communication, but there have been no issues with written correspondence through Slack.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I’d advise starting small by bringing the team on-site for one or two months to help them understand the culture. They have to feel like they’re part of the team, so there needs to be great one-to-one oversight. We’ve recently promoted one of their people to team lead and have gotten our culture embedded in their office now. They even do a lot of onboarding themselves.

**The Review** — Sep 16, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Andersen delivered a high-quality product on time and at excellent value. Their team used a proactive approach and demonstrated a high level of skill and communication ability throughout the project. Their personalized attention and technical expertise enabled a seamless workflow.
""The gave the best technology and development advice that I could ever expect from the development partner."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a Co-founder at Belkins. We are a trusted B2B lead generation and appointment-scheduling agency, with a presence in over 30 countries. We offer a comprehensive range of sales and business development processes including company research, B2B outreach programs, and lead qualification.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Andersen?

Since we are a sales agency, obviously we don't have much technical experience in the field. Instead of hiring and maintaining in-house engineering team we found Andersen to help us to develop a CRM solution for our SDR team to manage a load of manual work that usually agencies like us have.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed a solution which was plug-and-play as well as have someone from the vendor's team to run the maintenance. Also, since CRM wasn't our care business competency we had an allocated budget which we can not exceed.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We were approached by Andersen sales team, after which we set up a f2f meeting and after a workshop with their project management team, we decided to pull the trigger.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Andersen team is our strategic partner for any internal development. They helped us to select the best technology stack. We now use koa, * apollo *, * graphql *, * typedi *, * pg *, * Vue.js *. Afterward, we worked with their product manager and design team and engineers for 2 creating a prototype and MVP. After the first version of the product was released we spent another 2 months to finalize all the features and launched a version 2.0 which we are currently using without having any major issues.

What was the team composition?

The project team was about 5 people: product manager, UI/UX designer, backend and frontend developers a QA tester.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We tried other development teams before moving in with Andersen and they failed, all of them were reactively developing the platform instead of proactively running the developing. With Andersen, we had a great experience so far. I think they have superior technical knowledge as well as a good communication style. By the way, their engineers are advanced English speaker, so we had no issues of understanding one other.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used Jira, GitHub, Slack. We also were involved in daily/weekly standups and were provided with a 24/7 overview of current development springs and completed tasks.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

While doing due diligence I saw that Andersen had 1000 engineers, so I was kind of concerned that I wouldn't get that level of attention comparing to their large clients. However, they were very involved into understanding the project and users. The gave the best technology and development advice that I could ever expect from the development partner.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was great.

**The Review** — Nov 21, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The app is well-liked in the industry; several third-party platforms did API integrations with it. The team provides a strong collaboration with in-house engineers. Their expertise and strong work ethic make them great partners, and effective and responsive communications impress.
"“[F]rom a cost perspective, it’s been a good return on investment.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are an Internet of things sensor manufacturer and have developed an embedded electronic device, as well as the cloud software our sensors communicate with.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

We started developing a web application a long time ago, which is where Andersen came in. We needed skilled resources for further developing the app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Andersen provided PHP Laravel development for our app and have refactored its entire frontend over the last year. They have also developed Ionic applications which take data from our database.

What is the team dynamic?

There were two engineers working on our end, and Andersen provided a full-stack developer. We later added another developer, bringing the total to two. There is also a dedicated person for testing the code, a visual designer, and a project manager on their side. We have a five-person team on their side.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

They found us during a local exhibition while looking for new customers.

How much have you invested with them?

Up to this point, the cost of their work has been around $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started development on the web application in 2012, and Andersen was brought in in 2015. We had a working application when we started the engagement, but it’s been refactored since then, and further developed.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

There have been quite a few API integrations with other third-party platforms. I’ve heard from many places that Andersen is doing good work, usually from partners in the U.S. and Japan. They respect the skills of the Andersen team.

How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has been very good. Having a consistent team and dedicated resources on the project has been an advantage. They are skilled and have a very good work ethic and morale. We get replies even on weekends.

We’ve been developing the product with our own cash flow and reinvesting profits, so, from a cost perspective, it’s been a good return on investment.

We use Skype and Telegram for communication, along with JIRA.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve appreciated the responsiveness of the team and their management. They take good care of customers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

**Feedback Summary**: The product was released successfully without any major crashes. Their communication was excellent throughout the process, and they were available at all times regardless of language or time barriers. The team is eager to succeed and put forth the best quality work.
""Their eagerness and ability to communicate with us was really impressive."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the head of testing for 3D4Medical, and we develop anatomy based reference software. It allows users to tap on a 3D model and it explains specific structures of the body. Our apps are available on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows 10.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Anderson.

We have our own in-house development team, as well as software testers, but we were in a situation where we didn't have the staff for a major update for one of our apps. We decided to outsource the testing portion for one of our apps.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We gave them the code to one of our health and fitness apps, iMuscle. The app was already in production and on the marketplace. We had a certain set of criteria that we wanted them to test for, which we gave them. They developed the test plan and then implemented it.

They’re mostly specialized in software development, so this was something that wasn't part of their repertoire. It's something that they developed specifically for us as a small project.

What is the team dynamic?

I worked with one project manager, and two different testers.

How did you come to work with Anderson?

Our CEO, John Moore, had previously had a conversation with someone with Anderson and was impressed by them. It was likely the founder of the company. We decided to take a chance and outsource the testing of one of our apps for the first time and then chose them. We’re a small company, but have grown quite fast and we’d like to work with other small organizations to help them get started – that was another factor in the decision.

How much have you invested with them?

About $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2015, and the engagement is finished. It wasn’t a very long project, and testing lasted about two months.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We released the product without any major issues, which is a successful release for us. There were no major crashes. It was exactly right.

How did Anderson perform from a project management standpoint?

They has a tool for communication, it was most likely Jira. They brought me in separately into the tool and I was able to track their progress with that. We also had weekly Skype calls to discuss their progress thus far.

They were very good at communicating with us on what the process looked like on their end. This includes where they were with the project, what milestones they had hit, and when I could expect the project to be completed.

It was our first time outsourcing a project, so we were a bit nervous and required a lot of communication from them. I asked them to report back weekly, which they did. There were no problems with language or time barriers, they made themselves available to us when we needed them at all times.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their eagerness and their ability to communicate really well with us. I know that they're geographically far away, and they’re very aware of what’s required in order for them to be successful. They do that well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We told them the price that we were willing to pay for the project, and they were eager to make it work with us. They’re a small company and they really want to show what they can do, so be honest about your budget.

**The Review** — Oct 11, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: By managing intensive projects, Andersen enabled the firm to focus on its clients and deliver a more effective service. The agency earned recognition for their transparency, responsiveness, and proactive project management. They explained each task clearly and immediately addressed any issues.
""They showed considerable interest in making sure everything was smooth."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a company that provides a copyright solution to higher education. We’ve got customers in four countries. We make it easy for academic staff in universities to use copyright materials legally.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?
We find it hard to locate good, reliable developers in Australia that are not super expensive. We have a complicated knowledge domain. Even if you’re a talented programmer, you have to come up to speed on everything else about copyright. We have a lot of startup companies and tech companies that are gobbling up all the local talent, and it was difficult for us to find people who are qualified, skilled, and reasonably priced.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked a lot on integration with library catalog systems. We gave them discreet pieces of work. Our product will interrogate external systems for copyright permissions and for licenses or subscriptions for material. When they were working for us, they were doing that work.
They were using Ruby on Rails and a suite of tools that we use for our continuous testing and integration. The core work itself was development in full stack Ruby on Rails.
What is the team dynamic?
We had a couple of different team members. The first member didn’t get things the way we needed him to. One of the things we liked about Andersen was that when we voiced our opinion about this member, they were quick to swap him out and bring in someone who was a pleasure to work with. We’ve had two developers from Andersen and both of them were OK, but one of them was an extraordinary benefit for us and we’re happy Andersen helped facilitate that.
How did you come to work with Andersen?
They contacted me on LinkedIn. On LinkedIn, I’m aggressively petitioned by people that represent South Indian or other technological companies that compete with Andersen. I’m used to being assailed. The timing was good. We needed some people and weren’t having much fruit in terms of our search for people otherwise. It was my decision, and I said I think we should give these guys a shot.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $5,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in 2015. Software is never finished. We were struggling to find consistent work at the end of our project with Andersen that we could give them. We decided because it was inconsistent that we can’t have people turned on and turned off. We have control for the time being.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I don’t have any statistics or metrics. While we were focusing on some of the heavy lifting, they carved off some portions of work that allowed us to do things more efficiently and deliver to more customers. They did a lot of library integrations so we’ve had greater ability, when we’re talking to a university, to tell them we support that library system.
One of the pieces of work that they worked on with us was the Ex Libris Primo integration which is just a patron-facing library system made by Ex Libris. A lot of potential customers and people we’re bidding for work use that system. It’s very helpful for us.
How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?
It was good. They had a couple people who were involved, Roman and Vitaliy. They were responsive, curious, and checked in regularly. They sat in on all the early meetings we had with their staff which was good. They wanted things to work and they worked well with us. We had Slack accounts set up for them. We had regular chats either in Slack audio or Skype early on. With the management team, we use Skype.
We have a standup meeting each day and we ended up having two standup meetings. That was just par for the course because we had one in the morning and one in the afternoon when Andersen’s staff was starting. Roman’s English was excellent. Our development team worked closely with each other and I did not find it as easy as speaking directly with a native English speaker. I’m not sure it really impacted our project. We noticed it. It was raised a couple times, but the second member that we collaborated with, Eugene, worked really well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
For us, it’s unique because we haven’t worked with anyone else and we tend to rebuff all advances. I like Roman. I trusted that if we had a problem, I could tell him and he’d sort it out. It was a positive experience. They showed considerable interest in making sure everything was smooth. They came to forecast upcoming work and resources, and when there was a new resource on their end, they would make it available to us. They’re proactive in that way.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’ve worked with people in other countries and time zones for many years - I think it’s hard. You don’t want to be working all kinds of crazy odd hours just because the people you’re working with are. I think that would be an area they could potentially work on. But it’s not good for anyone to be out of sync with their location. Maybe something to do with time zones would have made it easier for us, but it’s an unreasonable request.
Do you have any advice for potential clients?
Be clear about what you need them to do. I’ve had a couple people call us to ask about Andersen. I tell them we didn’t have them to do everything. We didn’t have them do all the development work for our product, and I would never do that with anyone who I didn’t have some kind of direct contact with. Andersen worked well for us in portioning off specific, explicit parts of work and having that delivered. That is a smart move in my opinion.
We were able to give them responsibility for specific things. It’s lots of mini projects that get cohesively brought into our code tree. That means our risk is low. When we’re working with people on the other side of the world, we don’t necessarily know what they’re up to all of the time. My advice has nothing to do with Andersen or is a negative. Just be clear about what you want them to do. I would suggest having someone who can ease the developer into your knowledge domain. That’s even important for a product owner that’s a developer.

**The Review** — Oct 11, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The app is the largest in the country and has received good feedback from its third-party client. Andersen works well with the in-house team and established project management system. They are flexible and can scale their team as necessary to provide high-quality developers from around the world.
""They can find unique developers for our tasks."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a service company for the biggest telecom operator in Russia, Rostelecom. Our company has various teams, and I lead the projects, what can be translated as interactive television for Rostelecom. It’s about 112 people and we develop interactive service for multiple platforms: mobile, smart TVs, and a lot of things. We provide the video part of the platform and mobile applications.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?
Andersen is our outsourced partner for host direction of our projects. When we need a lot of developers for a fixed time, we call Andersen. Our model to work with Andersen is outsourcing. We provide the requirements for positions and they give us some people.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked on the Android and the iOS app. It is a complex app for paid TV and the VoD catalog. It’s a lot of films, serials, animations, and a huge amount of channels. They provided full stack for supporting the UX/UI elements, core app data, and full stack developers. We did the design in-house.
What is the team dynamic?
For Android, they provided us six developers and for iOS, three. The development process is ours. We have team leads. We have senior leads, so we can connect any professional developers on the fly. Almost all the time it’s easy. But in the last two years, we got two developers which we needed to reject two weeks after the start of the project.
How did you come to work with Andersen?
They are a huge company for our size. You need to review and check the quality of developers every week, every quarter. Overall, the status is good. They’re a good company. It’s normal for us to use this outsourcing model. The biggest factor is the price.
How much have you invested with them?
They are a mid-range price. They are in line with the market in Russia.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started on the mobile application in February 2017. It’s not finished. We are almost finished with the Android TV app.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
That’s restricted information because it’s our client’s app. It’s the biggest app in Russia. Our new app that we’re developing now has gotten good feedback from our client. It’s not launched yet, so we don’t have feedback from users.
How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?
We worked in 2-week sprints. We got projects in-house and our model is outsourcing only the developers. We didn’t use project managers. We were talking weekly and got status reports every month. There were day activities by task, from time to time. I am the project manager of a number of projects, so I work only on the big tasks.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are flexible. That’s important for us. We needed a certain amount of developers and we needed a company that could be flexible. Andersen is very good in this case. They can find unique developers for our tasks. I don’t know how they do it, but it works. We made the requirements, waited a few weeks, and got good developers from Israel, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. It’s a good staff.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Perfection is ideal, and we need to go there. I think they could be more open about the project and about their hiring process. Sometimes we don’t understand where people come from, and there are a few problems. The Ukrainian guys don’t like the Russians right now, so sometimes it gives problems in our project. It’s not about development; it’s about the politics and other matters.
Do you have any advice for potential clients?
Check the developers’ style of coding and their professional work. Always manage clearly.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?
It was decided to rapidly expand our cross-functional teams and to expand functionality for some projects significantly. Andersen helped us with that.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve developed several projects in cooperation with Andersen’s team.
On the first pilot project, I worked with a small team that consisted of three developers and one SQA engineer. All the management activity of the project was on my side and I had worked with the team directly. Currently, about ten developers and three SQA engineers are working on developing another big project together with our employees. It’s cloud-based application with modern technology stack.
How did you come to work with Andersen?
About three years ago we started to look for a vendor in Belarus that could help us with our projects. My good friend provided me the contact information for people at Andersen. We had positive references from companies that had worked with them before. After additional comparison to other local vendors, we’ve chosen Andersen to be our partner in work on the pilot project.
How much have you invested with them?
It’s more than $1,000,000 a year.
What is the status of this engagement?
The first project was started in 2014 and lasted about six months. We continue working with them and we have extended our collaboration.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The professional level, code quality and variants of proposed solutions allow us to involve some guys into architecture design.
We are using Agile methodology in our development process and the role of Scrum Master is assigned to persons from Andersen in two teams.
How did Andersen perform from a project management standpoint?
All management activities are made by me and I have direct communication with developers and QA engineers using different channels, such as Slack, WebEx, Skype, email, and phone.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Based on our work together over these years, I can say that I am impressed by Andersen’s flexibility in communication with clients. They really try to find appropriate solutions for all of our requests.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I would like to slightly speed-up closing positions of senior level and improve the precision of evaluation marks of candidates.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Andersen?
To manage the activity of the project by yourself.

**The Review** — Sep 28, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: Impressed with Andersen's development team's readable code and professionalism, this client plans a continued business relationship.
""They [Andersen] seriously want to be really good and improve themselves."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I own a consulting company. I offer my services as an experienced product development professional. I have worked in a series of startup companies creating a series of products. I’m employing myself only. I also do programming, software design, product design, and various types of testing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Andersen?

At the moment, I’m consulting to companies and helping them to create software products. I have a scheme and a way to create a software product for companies who have an idea but they don’t have anybody to implement it for them. I’ve been working together with Andersen Labs and employ them as the programmers and developers of the products. I set up product development cases and then I have employed professional companies in Eastern Europe to realize things.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve helped me with two projects so far. The first was in one startup which I was also part of as an investor- an Android tablet application. The other is now an ongoing project for clients.

We used a really scalable technology: Ionic and Angular, sponsored by Google mostly. It’s a well-known and used technology. Andersen has been able to work with this leading edge technology. The ongoing project includes work on the backend and frontend.

We’re using Amazon Web Services cloud backend basically to create an interface to a relational database system. We have pretty much the latest stack in use for the cloud. Andersen is working both on the application and the service side of this project. We have a team of five to six programmers and some additional vendors.

How did you come to work with Andersen?

I had experiences with companies like this prior to Andersen. I had ended up with certain difficulties with my regular partner in Europe. It happened at the right time when pretty active sales people from Andersen contacted me and I decided to give them a try. They had a good initial offer. In my previous startup, we were just beginning the programming work and we had a good opportunity with low risk to experiment with another partner. It started well and it continued well. I was really happy with them and they proved to be much better than the previous partner I was working with. I’ve been working with them ever since. I have other guys I work with, but Andersen has been a really good partner for me.

How much have you invested with Andersen?

The first project was 150,000 Euros [approx. USD 163,300] altogether. Andersen’s part was probably 65,000 Euros [approx. USD 70,800]. At the moment, we’re looking at a similar budget for the current project - maybe slightly bigger. Andersen’s part is about half of the whole cost.

What is the status of this engagement?

It is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The sales really didn’t take up so well for the first application created. It was a B2B [business-to-business] proposition and we had a really good test for the thing, but in the end, we were not able to sell.

The other thing is still under the radar. It’s sort of a B2B car sharing service. It’s like AirBnB for cars. People who own cars can make money with their cars. We are having a pilot starting in one to two months in Finland first and then planning deployment in Europe early next year.

How did Andersen Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

I didn’t buy from them any project management service but mostly developers. I got some technical support from the developers. I think it’s a good thing that they have engineers who supervise the guys there. I used to chat with the manager there and express my thoughts and ideas for areas where the guys needed more support.

What did you find most impressive about Andersen?

The word professional is something that comes to mind. They seriously want to be really good and improve themselves. They take care of their people because they understand that improvement takes place through these people, so they respect them. That’s one really good thing. That also shows the ambition level of the developers. They are professionals and that’s what I like in them. They write really clear code. It’s very well readable.

Are there any areas Andersen could improve?

The spoken English language is one thing especially with the developers but also with the management. If you think you can rely on this, then think twice. I really used a lot of written communication over chats - Slack and devices like that. Written English is good for everybody there, but spoken can be really difficult to understand. They also don’t indicate that they don’t understand, which can lead to bigger problems.

### An energy data management system
Project overview
Andersen was approached by a company operating in the energy sector. This large-scale business runs 45 subsidiaries and four affiliated firms with 3,500 employees. The chief goal of the company is to transmit and distribute electricity. It is not an exaggeration to say that 50% of electricity produced globally is managed via the company's products, services, and facilities.
Namely, the customer helps its clients — i.e., energy producers, public and industrial grid operators, and transformer manufacturers — with smart solutions and tools to control load flow and power quality for a seamless power supply. The range of products includes on-load and de-energized tap-changers, innovative sensors, automation technology and analytics tools, and digital solutions.
Andersen was entrusted with building a data management and processing system to support the customer's global operations.

App functionality
The result of Andersen's effort can be described as an enterprise-grade application collecting data from electrical transformers and generating reports based on it. With this solution at their disposal, the customer's employees can quickly obtain graphs and tables covering the risks of transformer component failures, as well as recommendations based on those risks.
The tool built by Andersen is, in particular, notable for its ability to work with images. It can upload, download, delete, rotate, drag, drop, and add them to reports. As for the range of available file formats, the tool offers PDF, CSV, and XLSX files.
Finally, this solution displays all data-generation transformers on the map and can function offline thanks to a special library that synchronizes the database and IndexedDB data.

### A Back-End Middleware Platform for Logistics
Project overview
Andersen was approached by a woodworking company. The company was determined to keep up with the latest industry trends and follow the best practices to be as globally competitive as possible. Therefore, they made the decision to build reliable fleet management software (FMS). With it at their disposal, they intended to fully automate their document circulation processes and significantly simplify their overall workflows.

About the project
When Andersen was contacted by the company, they already had the initial version of the logistics management solution built. That IT platform was developed by their in-house tech team and subsequently refined by a third-party vendor.
However, the first version failed to attain the goals set. The customer was still facing numerous challenges generated by the platform's performance and extensibility. As an outcome, endless time-consuming operations and the high costs of implementing features made it clear that the business needs a brand-new app to improve usability and ensure a personalized UX.
We were entrusted with becoming the customer's strategic partner and assisting them with the reinvention of their plans and product. Owing to our deep expertise in mobile and SaaS AWS LaaS-based development – as well as in DevOps consulting services – Andersen turned out to be a perfect match to develop an Android mobile app and cloud-based middleware.

Project results
Andersen made the quickest possible progress to implement the solution and let our collaboration with the customer gain steam. Thus, we swiftly deployed the required cloud-based system and transferred several mission-critical services to it. As an result, the customer company has found itself in the right position to run the functionalities in the full production mode.

Overall, the improvements that Andersen delivered have increased client satisfaction rates and boosted the customer's competitive edge.
