If safety regulations were largely theoretical in nature, then we must ask: Was the regulatory push ever truly effective, or was it just an illusion of control?

Rather than taking an all-or-nothing approach, the ideal path forward lies in pragmatic AI governance. Neither strict government control nor free-market deregulation alone will ensure both safety and progress.

  3. Independent Third-Party Audits – Similar to financial audits, AI models should be subject to external evaluations to ensure they adhere to transparency and bias-mitigation standards.

Balancing Innovation and Risk

I see both flaws in past regulatory efforts and risks in complete deregulation. The previous administration’s approach lacked execution, while the current administration’s approach lacks accountability. The answer is not “more rules” or “fewer rules”, but rather a governance model that aligns incentives between companies, policymakers, and independent AI researchers.

The market itself will demand AI safety—because trust is what sustains long-term adoption and profitability. Companies that fail to address ethical concerns will eventually face backlash from users, investors, and global regulators.
