For what projects/services did your company hire Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?

We hired SSNTPL for implementing complete Lab Management solution in one of our new facility.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to implement a customised solution for our Lab that connects and integrates with all the equipments and provide a centralised solution to monitor all the on going processes and generate reports.

How did you select Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?

We invited bids from multiple vendors and after thorough discussion with each of them we finalised the project with Sword because of their expertise and previous experience in the field.

Describe the project in detail.

After selecting SSNTPL, we had rounds of discussion with their team that gathered information from team about the requirements and prepared a draft for the implementation of the software. After few iterations the requirements and design documents were finalised and then the actual implementation began.

What was the team composition?

At the very beginning of the project we were assigned a Single Point Of Contact (SPOC). We had discussions with different teams during the course of project, however, the SPOC was the key person who managed the communication with all the persons in the team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was completed well before the schedule. All the systems are now integrated and managed centrally. We are now in process of extending the project to integrate different facilities and have a cloud based centralised solution for all of our labs across the globe.

Having a centralised solution has already proven 80% more effective as monitoring of equipment health, on going processes and generating reports doesn't require the scientists to go to the machine physically. They can access all the data directly from their desks.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

All the communication was routed through and managed by the SPOC. We used Skype, Zoom, teamviewer and emails for all the communication and collaboration. The response time was really great and we always got response from them in less than 24 hours.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have an incredible team of engineers. We were surprised to see how quickly they understood all the requirements and were able to freeze the specifications. They were able to fit all the data and options very beautifully in the UI.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We had no issues with them during the whole process.

We have used Sword for several years, we started off using them for app development, then added our web sites, within the past year we have started using them for all our web hosting.

Sword Software has become a one stop shop for all our app/web needs.

After looking at several companies we decided on Sword because of their knowledge in app and web development.

When we need any new apps created or updates they are who we turn too. Any questions/updates or help solving web site issues, they help us.

I have only worked with my go to guy from Sword.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have had Sword develop 4 apps, build and maintain over 6 web sites and hosting over 10 sites for us.

We communicate either through email or skype. Always get back with us in a timely matter.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are able to do all of our multimedia work for us.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We have honestly had no issues with this company. Thus why we have been with them for many years now.

I’m the managing director and partner for the Blue Chap Group, a software company that consults within the aviation industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?

They manage some of our development tasks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provide them with a kind of functionality — specifications, designs, etc. Then, they have the development task and manage it on their own. They develop features, manage support, etc. We’re in close quarters with them as they work. The project is such excellent ongoing work I wouldn’t describe it as a project — I’d describe it as a collaboration.

This collaboration includes an iPad app. It’s meant for pilots in the cloud, to better manage their data and insurance. It’s a cloud database. We assign them to one or two tasks, they complete it, then we go to the next one.

What is the team composition?

Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd makes up the bulk of the team on this project. When we need resources, we go to them to bring people onto our team.

How did you come to work with Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?

Back in the beginning, of my company, I’d contact a freelance online network to add developers. The big issue was collaboration — we wanted the flexibility to call them in the middle of the night. They’d be able to handle that, so we went with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’re still working together, and we started in May 2014.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They meet cost and time deadlines, but more importantly they do excellent work with the software. We continuously align on the feedback we were required to get, be it on outputs, feedback, or other ideas.

How did Sword Software N Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve developed continuously on this. We’re using Trello and Skype. We’ve built a great way to work with them using these tools. It’s quite difficult to communicate across time zones, but they do a great job despite these obstacles.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m quite happy with their overall output.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, other than the time zones, we have no issues.

It’s great to have a key contact point. They’ll know your product, know how to communicate, and decrease the chance for errors.
