Our Story

Kody and I are both neurodivergent. He's ADHD, I'm autistic and ADHD with a chronic illness on top. Neither of us could run on hustle, so we built Project Seven to run on systems instead. It cleared its debt and kept going through the weeks we couldn't.

Then we started building our own software, because every tool we tried made us bend around it. Now we do that for other small businesses. Custom software used to cost ten grand and take months. It doesn't anymore, and most people don't know yet.

What Sets Us Apart

We build it, then we run our own business on it.

The CRM, the proposal tool, the client portals all went live inside Project Seven before any client saw them. If something is clunky, we're the ones stuck with it at 11pm. Nothing goes out until we've lived with it ourselves.

Dev-marketers

Developers can build anything but rarely think much about the business it's for. Marketers understand the business but can't build the thing. We kept landing in the middle of those two, so we set up shop there.

You own what we build, and we put that in writing.

Commonly Asked Questions

Every client starts the same way, and we don't improvise it. The proposal gets signed through our own tool, which files the agreement and creates the client record on the spot. We set up the shared folder, then sit down for a ninety minute discovery meeting and take the brief properly. If something comes up that sits outside what was signed, we flag it in the room and come back with a cost. Nothing gets quietly absorbed. The brief goes into the CRM and back to the client for sign off. Only then do we break it into deliverables with dates and owners. We agree the check-in rhythm, put the recurring invite in the diary, and set up billing so the first invoice isn't a surprise. It's deliberately boring. Onboarding is where most agency relationships go wrong, and usually it's because nobody wrote down what was agreed.

Real numbers, all backed by your contract terms and actual delivery. Depends what it is, so here are real numbers rather than a vague promise. We acknowledge anything new within one business day. That's written into our contracts, and it can be as simple as "got it, you'll have it Thursday." A task that arrives without a due date is due by the end of that week. Small pieces of work sit inside the weekly rhythm. Websites we now build in hours, where the same job used to take days or weeks, because we build with AI properly. A working prototype for a custom app takes days rather than months. Bigger builds get phased, and a first phase usually runs three to four weeks with something you can actually use at the end of it. If a deadline is at risk, we tell you early. Early is a scheduling problem. Late is a client problem.

We agree the channel and the check-in rhythm during onboarding, put the recurring invite in the diary, and write both into the brief. Nobody should be sitting there wondering when they'll next hear from us. Day to day, anything new is acknowledged within one business day. If a deadline is at risk, or something lands outside what was agreed, you hear it from us early and with a cost attached rather than discovering it later. Reporting is where we're particular. The rule we build to is that you should never have to look up a word in your own report. If traffic dropped, the report says traffic dropped, plainly and at the top, before any explanation of why. No vanity metrics and no dashboards designed to look busy. Clients on retainer get a portal where the work, the documents and the reporting sit together, so none of it depends on digging back through email. One client did the maths on our retainer unprompted, worked out how many new signups it would take to break even, and hired us anyway. He asked for no smoke and mirrors. That's the bar we report to.

Around eighteen at the moment, across a team of five. That number is deliberate and we keep an eye on it. When I took Project Seven over in late 2025 the list was longer, and a fair few of those clients were quietly losing us money. We cut it back to the ones we could do properly, cleared the debt, and the business has been healthier ever since. So we cap it. If taking someone new on means an existing client gets less of us, we say no, or we tell you honestly when we'd have room. Not everyone loves hearing that. It's also the reason our clients stay and the reason we're still reachable within a business day. The mix helps. Some are long-term retainers, some are one-off builds, so it isn't eighteen people all needing us on the same Tuesday.

We measure against the client's number rather than ours. Every engagement starts by agreeing what would make it worth the money. For one accounting client that's new client signups weighed against what we cost him, because he ran that maths himself before he hired us. For a commercial cleaning client it's revenue growth toward a ten million dollar target, and complaint volume, because complaints were the thing quietly losing them contracts. Two very different scoreboards, and neither of them is impressions. Then we report against it plainly, including the months it goes badly. Traffic went up is useless if nothing came of it. The other measure is quieter and harder to put in a chart. How much of the owner's week comes back. Most of the people we work with started their business because they loved something, then spent five years doing admin instead. If they're back doing the part they're actually good at, we've done the job.
