I was one of the founders of a nonprofit effort called CellCentives, a mobile solution to disrupt the way tuberculosis treatments take place. It’s a system for TB drug education and regimen.

Our concept won the MIT IDEAS Global Challenge and we needed to hire someone to develop the software.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to build a proof of concept that was robust enough to conduct a study in the second largest chest hospital in Asia.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We scouted around for vendors that could build a foolproof solution in a short period of time.

There were some challenging aspects to the application including a scheduler to remind separate patients about their medication and quantities, an SMS mechanism for sending the reminders, as well as a dashboard for administrators to manage patients and regimen schedules.
What was the team composition?
Amish Gandhi [Head of Product Development, Perpetual] took personal effort and did a lot of the heavy lifting.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Ideas from the project are still going strong and are being carried forward in programs such as X out TB, which incorporates the core idea of cell phone minutes as incentives.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was extremely effective; Amish was always at the other end of our phone calls.
