BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Flock app is a Social Mental Health Media app that shows people they aren't alone in present time with their suffering. I am the CEO and run the business.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address?
I had a hard time getting a hold of the CEO for a couple months and was upset about that, but once we were able to talk I understood a lot more about what was going on. I hope to be bale to change my initial review of Naked.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
I was looking for an app developer for an app that would go into schools. Looking for an MVP to get into beta testing. Was looking for help with the design, but also help with the concept and guidance into this world I knew nothing about. A clickable prototype was needed in app stores to be tested with IOS and Android. Development assumptions and risks, and expert consulting as it stated in the contract.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
How did your relationship with Naked Development evolve?
They took me aside and talked with me for an hour and a half to help me figure out what was going on. I had many issues we were able to talk thorough and I understand more. I would love to delete my review because i do not feel it applies anymore and would like to redo it once the project is finished.
In what ways can they improve?
They improved in so many ways that I suggested. I hope this review can be deleted.
What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
I say if you have any issues, do not email them, set up a time to talk with the CEO or the team and they will get your issues figured out.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I received a clickable prototype and mockups that had a ton of mistakes and didn't represent words or numbers that I would have used. They helped me with a design that I did like, but in hindsight never needed for the Beta testing. I was disappointed on numerous levels, very sloppy work. The account manager did not let me know when the project was finished and it was in the contract that she would.
The "library of online videos" were the founder repeating the same slide shows over and over again, and not labeled in a way that allowed me to know I would be watching the same information over and over again. The help with the pitch deck was not actually helpful, myself and another person in the class got feedback saying our pitch decks looked amateur and unprofessional, and this was after the "experts" looked at them. I do not feel this project was a success, I am deeply disappointed.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
This company deeply lacks transparent communication. I wouldn't allow anyone I love to work with this company. I chose this company because they claim to represent the Naked Truth, but I was not told the Naked Truth when they were consulting me. I also chose them because they claim to "keep it simple" and that is what I was looking for. Turns out their "simple" was incredibly elaborate and upon talking to many other app companies realized that the "expert" advice was not expert.
They wanted $175k on top of the $20k for something I ended up paying $1200 for. Their advice that it would take longer and that new entrepreneurs expect things to happen fast was not true. I got my app designed, into Beta testing, had iOS and Android users testing it and giving feedback in less than a month, outside of Naked Dev. and with an American company. They said it wasn't possible getting it made overseas and that wasn't true.
The contract said they were a "consultancy" I expected expert advice, not just advice that led me to spending an insane amount of money with this company that I didn't have. After the masterclass the founder asked for feedback, I wrote a long letter giving them feedback based on them telling me they were all ex pastors, I encouraged them to be more honest and maybe not mention women so much.
To mention women's looks 10-1 over how women perform in the workforce is objectification of women. Making their bodies and looks the focus, not their brains. They told me I was attacking them and became very cold after that with me. This company was VERY warm with me before the feedback.
When I asked for a partial refund they continued to ignore my ask and not respond at all. They knew I was working on an app to help with teen suicide and that I was not happy with the results and also didn't have much money.
The 20k I spent on a big disappointment was a loan I have to pay back. I could see how a company with a lot of money could hire them, just like thousands of app companies out there, they are capable of making a design and doing the work to get it into an app store. But if you are someone who values honesty, transparency, kindness and expert advice, I wouldn't use this company.
What was your primary form of communication with Naked Development?
- Virtual Meeting
- Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What I had found most impressive, turned out to be a facade. It was their ability to get things down to the minimum concept. It was that they spoke the "Naked Truth" which they did not. It was that they were "experts" in the field but they chose to leave out a lot of information when giving advice because they cared more about money than honesty. They have kind designers. They can make a good design.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Naked Development could have done differently?
They could be more honest. I feel like I got caught in a bunch of sales traps, cons and scams. Which may or may not be normal in the sales world, but it didn't feel good to experience. Told I would be introduced to investors, I wasn't. Told an MVP would cost $175k, when I got it done elsewhere for $1200. Was able to get it into the app stores for IOS and Android for Beta testing in a month. Told they only choose 10 apps to work with a year in the intro video, and I got chosen!
I told people and the CEO I was 1 of 10 and so excited about it and he never corrected me. He didn't tell me he actually chooses way more than 10 a year. Not sure the number, maybe only 10 apps get made a year. I don't know but needless to say, the company lacks transparency and allowed me to believe things that were more of a sales tactic than the truth. I don't like that they claimed “Ranked # 1 US App Developer by Clutch and Design Rush”. Naked is actually ranked #20 on Clutch in the US.
With Design Rush 74 US companies have more and higher ranked reviews than Naked. The founder when given feedback he didn't like, which I apologized for, stopped being helpful, stopped being engaged with me and stopped being my mentor. He pulled away and he is supposed to continue to consult me. For $20k I wish they could have been transparent with me about why they are unable to help me anymore.
STAR RATINGS
Overall rating: 0.5
I regret choosing this company and wish I was more informed and told the "Naked Truth" when I decided to join.
Quality: 1.5
The deliverables were late and had a ton of mistakes. No one ever checked back with me to see if they were ok.

Way too expensive for what you get. You can get something of equal quality and value for much less money here on Clutch.
Schedule: 1
They told me 4 months after my clickable prototype was finished that it was finished.

I would never recommend this company to anyone who has morals and values.
