Scope of Work:

The project involved integrating the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP to ensure real-time synchronization of production data, improving both operational efficiency and data accuracy. The integration focused on automating data flow related to machine runtime, production output, and quality assessments between the MES and ERP systems.

Key aspects of the scope:

1. Data Capture & Categorization: Collection of critical production metrics, including machine runtime, parts produced, and quality classification (good vs. scrap) from the MES, stored in MS SQL databases.
2. Data Categorization: Segmentation of production data into three primary categories—Production Posting, Liner Management, and Bake Oven Feedback.
3. API Integration with Dynamics 365: Development of JSON-based communication between MES and Dynamics 365, ensuring secure data transmission.
4. Automation & Scheduling: Building an ASP.NET application triggered at regular intervals (every 5 minutes) to automate data transmission.
5. Error Handling & Monitoring: Implementation of robust logging (via Serilog) and maintaining logs of API requests and responses for monitoring and troubleshooting.

Summary of Key Deliverables:

1. Seamless Data Integration: 
   • Development of an ASP.NET console application for generating JSON payloads and interacting with Dynamics 365 APIs.
   • Secure data transfer using authentication tokens via the Dynamics 365 API.
2. Automated Scheduling System: 
   • Implementation of a Windows service to automate the execution of data synchronization tasks every five minutes.
3. Production Data Categorization: 
   • Segmentation of MES data into key areas: Production Posting, Liner Management, and Bake Oven Feedback.
4. Comprehensive Logging & Monitoring System: 
   • Integration of Serilog for detailed logging, capturing each stage of the data transmission process.
   • Database setup to log API requests and responses for tracking and troubleshooting purposes.
5. Real-Time Production Visibility: 
   • Real-time data synchronization between MES and ERP systems, providing up-to-date visibility into production metrics.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Project was succesffuly deployed at client location with UAT. Inceptive helped in entire process. Below were the mesaureable outcomes:

1. Real-time synchronization between the MES and Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, reducing data transfer delays to under 5 minutes, thanks to automated scheduling.
2. Automated data transfer ensured an increase in data accuracy by 99%, eliminating errors and discrepancies between production and ERP records.
3. Automation of data transmission and reclassification processes, reducing manual intervention by 80%.
4.  Implementation of Serilog for comprehensive logging, reducing downtime and troubleshooting time by 50%, as issues could be identified and resolved promptly.

The project was managed efficiently with clear milestones and deadlines established from the outset. The team followed a structured approach, following the Agile methodologies to ensure flexibility and adaptability throughout the project. Key deliverables, such as the data integration system, automation scripts, and logging mechanisms, were delivered in phases, allowing for regular feedback and adjustments. Weekly calls were scheduled and demo's given on the progress.

On-Time Delivery: All major project milestones were met on time, including the integration of APIs, the development of the ASP.NET application, and the implementation of the Windows service for scheduling data synchronization. The team consistently delivered items ahead of or within the agreed timelines, ensuring that there were no major delays.

They were flexible in taking change requests due to their dedicated resouce model, I got the team who did work exclusive on my project.
