Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the office manager of Calderon Medical Group, a primary care medical practice in Las Vegas, Nevada operating for the past 20 years or so. We’re a family-run clinic that caters mostly to seniors. Here, patients are treated as family. It is your health, your choice, our shared responsibility.

What challenge were you trying to address with Healthy Technology Solutions?

With the ever-changing technology, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, our practice has become more technologically dependent. Last year alone, for instance, we had to transition to televisits within a week or less to stay operational. Health Technology Solutions (HTS) has been central in accomplishing that pivot.

What was the scope of their involvement?

HTS takes care of all our technology needs, serving as our one-stop-shop in case something breaks. If we need to fix anything, we call them, such as when printers break and network connections are interrupted. They work on every task from simple problems to the nitty-gritty of technology-related issues. Their team also makes sure that our servers and drives are operating at optimum levels and that we have a backup system in case everything goes down. Overall, they've assisted us in our technology-related leaps while running our practice. Especially with the hacking incidents going around, HTS also helps us make sure that our patients’ data are secure. 

What is the team composition?

We usually work with Leo (Founder & President), Ben (VP), Jacob, Stan, and Kyle (Network Engineer).

How did you come to work with Healthy Technology Solutions?

HTS was already working with us when I took over the management; my predecessors hired them between 2015–2016, and I took over around 2018. They were great from the very beginning, so there was no need to transition to another provider although we had quite a few offers. I believe business is about people and building relationships. We have that with HTS.

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership began in April 2015, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

When things go wrong, HTS is usually there to fix them or prevent them from occurring again. If we experience network downtimes where everyone loses access to our documents, HTS responds quickly. They can usually fix problems within the same business day. If it’s a hardware problem, they take three business days to fix it, depending on whether they have the necessary parts on site. They’re also flexible; they tailor their recommendations to the practice’s needs, and that’s important for us. 

Moreover, they’re more personalized than other providers. We’re a small clinic, and they’re a mid-sized company that has many clients. However, we’ve never felt left behind. The team is always accommodating and straightforward with what can and cannot be done. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve navigated sharp twists and turns to survive as a small practice. Through all that, HTS has played a big role in keeping our business together.

How did Healthy Technology Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

HTS performs amazingly well, and the team is well organized. There might be some kinks here and there, but nothing big usually occurs. To communicate, we use phone calls, emails, and chats. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They give us a sense of security. Many other IT providers charge less than them, and they may deliver the same kind of service, but the relationship we have with HTS is unique. Their team doesn’t give us a false sense of security — we know that when something happens, they have our backs, and that’s highly important for us. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

One of the issues we faced before was the fast turnover of people. If there was a new tech person, it was a little difficult to explain where we were or what our needs were. On top of that, the technology itself sometimes wasn’t up to par. 

That has been a problem for us because even the best companies perform only as well as their weakest employees. That being said, HTS’s staffing has been pretty stable over the past year, and they’ve already addressed this issue. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open to HTS and let them know exactly what you need. If you don’t know what you need, let them assess your system and make recommendations. In our engagement, they never force us to make any adjustments. However, they explain well what they think is the best for our operations, especially considering the size of our company. 

On top of that, remember that they’ll build a relationship with you that gives you a sense of security — that’s the best thing about them. You’ll go home knowing that your system and network are well protected and taken care of by their team.

I'm the executive director for Vivida Dermatology. We provide skin cancer surgery called Mohs. We also do general dermatology, and we have a medical spa where we do facials, lasers, and injectables.

What challenge were you trying to address with Healthy Technology Solutions?

We had 4–5 companies that were managing our IT systems before Healthy Technology came on board. The support service was bad. We were crashing all the time. We hired another company, but they were ripping us off. Their service was terrible, and it wasn't a good relationship. They were constantly trying to upsell things to us, but they only did the bare minimum to keep us functional.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Healthy Technology hosts all of our IT services. Our connectivity goes through them, and they're our IT provider. They also provide consulting services for us.

They've helped us have a call center solution with remote access. Security-wise, they recommended a few steps for us to follow to make sure that we're safe. It turned out that we had some compliance issues, and they brought those to our attention, helping us resolve them. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with Leo (Founder & President), but we also work with Jacob (Account Manager). 

How did you come to work with Healthy Technology Solutions?

I've known Leo for about ten years. We've worked together before, so I talked to him about our concerns with the other companies we were using. It took a couple of months to go through the motions and get out of the contracts we had. 

However, the simplicity of how he explained what needed to be done was impressive. He just presented them as a very honest and decent fellow, so we gave Healthy Technology a chance. We hired them, and their pricing came in at a third of our previous costs. 

How much have you invested with them?

We probably spend around $120,000 a year with them. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around March 2019, and the engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It's been a great relationship, and everything is done in a timely manner. There's no pushback on anything. We get great advice from them, and we're stable. We haven’t had any issues in the two years we've been with them. They're all about being efficient, reliable, and honest. Leo has done everything he said he was going to do. 

How did Healthy Technology Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate with Healthy Technology through email and phone calls, as well as by meeting on-site. We've never had any problem getting a hold of them. We have a good support network that we can access at any time. They also have an online process. If we need to, we can send them an email and someone gets back to us. They have an online text messaging tool as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The stability is impressive, and the Healthy Technology team is reliable. They do what they say they're going to do, and they're reasonably priced. They're also extremely knowledgeable about the health care environment, which is huge for us. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. Nothing that stands out as problematic. They’re so good that we don’t even think about anything like that. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If customers want honest, reliable, and high-level customer service that’s also safe and protected, Healthy Technology Solutions is definitely the company to be with. They’re cost-effective as well.
