Unfortunately, our experience with Webskitters was not a positive one.

What was initially estimated to take one month ended up stretching over six months, with minimal visible progress from week to week — requiring constant follow-ups on our end. Although we believed Webskitters to be a UK-based company, we later discovered that much of the work was outsourced overseas. This led to significant miscommunication and a lack of cohesion between teams.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Pedro was consistently responsive and courteous, and we truly appreciated his efforts to manage the situation. However, despite his professionalism, only about half of the agreed-upon work was completed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Webskitters could have done differently?

Ultimately, we had to abandon the project with Webskitters and hand it over to a single developer, who was able to finish it independently within a couple of months. Even now devs are having to clean up the messy code and awful backend of the site that was built my Webskitters.

🚨 Startup Founders: Here’s What $7000 on Upwork with Webskitters Didn’t Get Us 🚨

In August 2024, we engaged Atanu of Webskitters Technology Solutions via Upwork to develop a women-only social app.

After 11 months and full payment, we encountered serious issues that compromised delivery, trust, and platform safety:

·         No functional sign-up or photo upload

·         No verified app store submission

·         Hardcoded API keys — a major security concern

·         Source code was withheld

·         Fabricated progress updates

·         Delivery timed to exceed Upwork’s refund window

We have submitted formal complaints to UK consumer bodies, including Action Fraud and Trading Standards, and are pursuing platform escalation.

We’re sharing this to help fellow founders make informed decisions when hiring internationally. Protect your repository access, enforce milestone accountability, and take early signs of delay seriously.

This app was intended to support lesbian visibility and safety. Instead, we were misled, overcharged, and left with an unusable product.

This post reflects our documented experience and is shared in good faith. We are pursuing lawful remedies through the appropriate regulatory channels.

The scope of work for Moy Furniture's development of a new Shopify store began with an initial consultation and discovery phase to understand the business goals, customer needs, and brand identity. During this phase, a detailed project brief was created, outlining business requirements, design preferences, target audience, and specific e-commerce functionalities. This also included recommendations on Shopify plans, integrations, and any additional features like payment gateways and shipping options, as well as a clear project timeline with key milestones.

Following the discovery phase, the focus shifted to the design and development of the Shopify store. A custom theme was created that aligned with Moy Furniture's brand identity, ensuring a visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive design optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. Essential pages like the homepage, product pages, about page, and contact page were developed, incorporating brand-specific fonts, colors, and imagery. Additionally, user experience (UX) enhancements were implemented, such as intuitive navigation and well-organized product categorization.

The next step involved adding crucial store features and functionality. This included integrating Shopify’s built-in features like cart, checkout, and product search, as well as setting up payment gateways such as PayPal and Stripe, and configuring shipping methods. Another key outcome is the higher conversion rates. This metric tracks the percentage of visitors who make a purchase on the website. A noticeable increase in conversions after the launch would indicate that the improvements made to the website’s design, functionality, and checkout process were effective in turning visitors into paying customers. This is a strong indicator that the store is meeting customer expectations and driving sales effectively.

The other site has begun its SEO strategy, with foundational optimizations such as keyword research, on-page enhancements, and Google Business Profile improvements already in place. Early indicators show increased site indexing, improved page speed, and enhanced local search presence. As SEO efforts continue, rankings, organic traffic, and lead generation are expected to grow steadily over time. Regular tracking and adjustments ensure a data-driven approach to long-term digital success.

They’ve been solid on project management—organized, communicative, and keeping things moving at a good pace. The website build has followed a clear process, hitting key milestones like design approvals, content integration, and functionality checks without any major hiccups. One site is still in progress, and the other is in the early stages of SEO, but so far, everything has been delivered as expected, with transparency about timelines.

Whenever I’ve had questions or needed tweaks, they’ve been quick to respond and make adjustments. They don’t leave me hanging—if something comes up, they address it fast and keep me in the loop. They also provide regular updates, so I know what’s going on and what to expect next. Overall, they ran a tight ship but stayed flexible enough to adjust when needed. No complaints on that front.
