Actual project cost over run was less than 5% as initially planned and budgeted. 99% satisfaction from the business stakeholders feedback on the performance of the new website. All identified requirement for the performance of the new website have either been met or exceeded.

Webandcrafts project management was executed in a timely and professional manner. Even though the initial estimated timelines for the project was mis-calculated the project team took it upon themselves to ensure thorough progression and milestones were hit in an adequate timeframe. The project teams open and quick communication enabled constant feedback to be able to quickly identify problems and resolve them in line with project requirements. 

Requirements were clearly understood and where needed further information, context or data was appropriately requested by the business to better enable the project team in working towards the deliverables. The project team also provided sound council in implementing best practice approaches, processes and applications necessary in ensuring the success of our final e-commerce platform.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I appreciate the patience from the project team in understanding and gathering the business requirements even in the circumstance when we as the business ourselves were unsure in certain cases. The project team were very professional in guiding us through the decision making process by either providing options for the solution or commenting on best working practices by similar businesses. The project team further goes on to implement the solutions step-by-step whilst engaging us for feedback. 

This ensured all our expectations were met and gave us a clear understanding of the progressive direction of the project. The project team were also very supportive in terms of the constant communication with the business team. This gave our staff the confidence in sharing and working in a collaborative manner with the project team which would otherwise be outside the general role and daily tasks of our staff.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Webandcrafts could have done differently?

One area of improvement I would recommend is to better gauge the estimated timeline for the completion of a project as similar to us. Even though the estimated timeline was initially 60 days we as the business found this to be too optimistic. We respected the scoping, requirements gathering, building and testing would be a timely and on-going exercise that would need to be completed part-by-part in order to ensure a fully fledged and robust e-commerce store front builds at launch. 

A second area of improvement I would recommend is for W&C to expand their knowledge to as many different types of website and businesses as ours and to experiment and recommend a variety of website styles. designs and themes. This will help clients to also broaden their mindset and help visualise the end goal of the project much early on and speed up with the decision making of the first few milestones.

We had a website but it wasn’t highly technical and didn’t have many pages and functionalities. We needed someone to design a custom-built website for us.

Webandcrafts developed our website based on the requirements we provided. We had many brainstorming discussions with the whole team regarding designs and how to make the website have a faster loading time and keeping the SEO as first priority

They made it flexible so we can upgrade the site with new plugins and all the updates given by Google. We can also add more products to the website which wasn’t previously possible.

The project took some time because we underwent a major expansion. Before this website, we only had organic spices and tea. When we expanded to the new website, we added more products, an e-commerce section, etc. The content is quite big.

We work with 25–35 members of their team, including a dedicated project manager who is our main point of contact. We work with people from multiple departments, including design, development, content building, SEO, etc.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did a very good job on the website. It’s almost live and is in the final leg of bug testing. This website will fulfill our requirements for the next 2-3 years. After that, we’ll be upgrading.

They followed our requirements well. I feel like I got a million-dollar website. The previous website had around 8,000-10,000 visitors monthly. I’m expecting this website to have 100,000 per month.

The website is running smoothly and is able to host more of our products. They helped give me great vase knowledge about the technical side of the project by explaining things in-depth. I know what I’m investing in, and I'll be using them for additional websites as well.

Our teams collaborate via phone and Google Meet. The project has been slightly extended due to COVID-19, but I'm not in a hurry.

On the website, they added a portfolio section. Users can go through all their past work. You’ll find their website to be better than any of the competition. Their design skills make their work stand out.

They’re growing very rapidly. I’d ask them to hire more people.

Don’t hold back in investing in them. Go in guns blazing and get involved in the work, even if it takes some time to get the output. It will be worth it.

What challenge were you trying to address with Webandcrafts?

We wanted to revamp our website. After bifurcating our business, we had to split the website in two and needed to ensure the technical coding was being done correctly. We’ve since signed on for social media services as well.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

As we’re in the financial trading industry, we receive constant updates about the market and have to make corresponding changes to values in our backend. We do this multiple times a day, so Webandcrafts built a module that allows us to update values at the click of a button, which then appear through the website automatically. We’re able to export the values as individual PDFs and deliver them to our existing clients.

We’d also obtained code from other sites for a certain licensing fee, and Webandcrafts integrated the associated widgets. These allowed us to expand our information offerings regarding market movements and live prices. They used PHP to build the site and now provide social media services.

What is the team composition?

I work with one of their project managers and have interacted with their developers a couple of times.

How did you come to work with Webandcrafts?

I’d been in touch with them while I was at my old company and I knew someone from their senior management team. It was quite easy for me to get in touch with them directly when I had my requirements.

We’ve been working together since February 2018, and the website is live, though they’re still making minor tweaks. We signed a second contract for social media and will hopefully be signing a third, for yet another project, in a few weeks.

The site’s been performing to our expectations. It will never be fully complete, due to the constant innovations in the tech world, but I’m happy with all their services, support included.

They’ve given us constant updates, and there’ve only been a few miscommunications. In those cases, they presented me with personal apologies and moved forward. It’s been a great way to work together. The communication is perfect, and I can talk to multiple people. Our project manager gives me the latest updates, and I can connect with developers when I need to explain the work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re friendly, and they understand requirements easily. When we’ve had to make changes to introduce something new to the website, they’ve been helpful and refrained from increasing our price. They’ve pleased us with their work, and that’s enough for me.

I wish we had a more established system with which to view our progress, rather than having to go back to them or send reminder emails. It would also help to have a dedicated account manager who could get in touch with us directly to ask for requirements and follow up on progress.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I gave them my requirements, and then Webandcrafts gave me 3–4 prototypes along with a logo design. I selected one of those, and they made it into a full-fledged website. The backend was done in PHP and Python, using WordPress templates. We wanted to have a dynamic banner on the website with photos that change dynamically. They designed the site so we can post announcements ourselves for new batches, courses, or exams without contacting the developers. They built a platform that allows me to publish new pages within seconds. We can also update the weekly timetable on the website by ourselves. These are the key features, and we like them.

I was in contact with one of their co-founders and with a developer. The development was carried out by the other members as well.

We started working with Webandcrafts around September 2014. The site was launched in November 2014.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site has worked exceedingly well from its inception. There are no issues with its responsiveness or downtimes.

How did Webandcrafts perform from a project management standpoint?

Management-wise, the communication was excellent. We were assigned a designated manager, who bridged the gap between us and the developer. Whenever I had a query or design issue, I emailed her screenshots, and she submitted them to the developer. Project-wise, they understood the work well. The primary form of contact was email. We also used WhatsApp at times for quick resolutions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their template designs are great. They came up with unique designs based on a good understanding of our business concept. Our website features a ship’s rudder, something which we didn’t specify to them. Webandcrafts came up with our distinctive design, where each spoke of a ship’s wheel represents something. It’s still on our main page, and I love that feature. Their creativity, design templates, and color choices are awesome. I’ve seen all the websites they’ve created, and each one has a unique color combination. In our case, there is a simple and elegant magenta scheme.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Content writing could be an improvement area.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If clients give proper requirements, Webandcrafts will come up with beautiful designs. There are no issues with them at all, and I’d recommend them to any of my peers. As long as requirements and the business understanding are correct, they’ll deliver.
