What challenge were you trying to address with Synergy Labs?

I went to India to learn traditional well-being ideology about the balance between people's mindset, mind, and body. After going back to the US, I had an idea to develop a fitness app. We hired Synergy Labs to develop a fitness app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Synergy Labs helped me with the whole process of developing my app, from scratch to finish. I didn’t have a clear idea of how to develop a website or a mobile app, so they helped me with everything. They did research and developed the app's requirements, design, and development. They developed the app for iOS, Android, and iPad.

They gave me design options, and I chose which one to use. I constantly checked the app’s versions and commented on what I wanted to add or remove. Additionally, Synergy Labs developed my website and provided app maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Synergy Labs helped me create a business that runs smoothly. Even though we're at the beginning of our journey, we already have around 200 paid users, and we’re getting profit from the advertisements on our website. We show our users healthy diets and exercises, promote some products there, and offer users something different than other fitness apps. I’m very happy with the results, and I believe we’ll reach 1,000 users by New Year.

The app users have never complained about bugs, which is fantastic. The Synergy Labs team was experienced in the app's sphere and showed me similar apps, but mine was different because it had an ideology as a base. Initially, I only wanted to develop the app for iPads, but Synergy Labs told me my market would be very limited that way, so they built it for iOS and Android as well.

How did Synergy Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything was fine regarding project management. We talked through Slack. I’m not very technical, so I called them again and again for updates, and they were always kind and answered me on time. Synergy Labs was also open to making changes for free. They provided three months of free maintenance.

Half of the team was girls, so we talked a lot about the project, how it should be, how it should look, and why people should choose our product when there are so many fitness apps. I checked the process and performance through a board, including finished and pending tasks.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

There was a girl on the team who had experience using the kind of app I wanted to make. She showed me what features I needed in the app and was almost a co-owner of the app.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Synergy Labs didn’t limit themselves to development. They suggested adding features and three different plans for my services. For example, I hadn't thought about having a page for videos, but they showed me that it would be more organized to have videos on the app rather than having users go to YouTube. They did deep research before going into the task, clarified my needs, and checked if their needs conflicted with mine. 

Additionally, they checked what my competitors were doing and features that were trending in the space, which I was very happy with. Other providers don't do this and then ask for more money to redevelop the app, which happened to my friend. Synergy Labs was very honest with me. 

Synergy Labs provided me with consulting services, not just technical development. They were entrepreneurs who knew the business very well. This was my first time trying these kinds of services, and I was very happy with the experience they provided.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on. Everything was very smooth. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re not experienced in the sphere of developing software or apps, you should go with Synergy Labs. They consult with you, and even if you don’t use their services, you’ll have a clear picture of your app after having a call with them. Talking to them is like seeking advice from your friend. They’re more than just a technical development company.

We've been in business since 2014, so we had a very old website and wanted to renew it. We also wanted to create a custom mobile app for our clients. When we started this company, were doing our business through our website only. However, after some time, we decided to create a mobile app. Nowadays, every website has their own mobile app, which helps them increase their customer base.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Synergy Labs has helped us revamp our website and develop an iOS and Android mobile app to help users track their financial spending. The app has a feature where users can add their cards and track all the information on how much they spend on what kind of services in a month.

We also connect our users to other service providers, such as psychologists and doctors. If a child has problems or is sick, users can contact a doctor and talk about their problems. For these calls, the doctors charge a certain amount of money. At the end of each month, users are able to see how much money they spent on the doctors and other things.

Our app also has a community feature, where users are able to talk with peers to see how each one is handling these kinds of problems. In summary, some of the features include messaging, social media capabilities, finance management, and analytics.

Currently, we're still testing the app. Synergy Labs is also providing maintenance 24/7. I can contact them at any time, and they help me with any issue.

I've worked with four teammates from Synergy Labs: two people from the sales team, a UI/UX designer, and a developer.

How did you come to work with Synergy Labs?

I was looking for a really good service provider and ended up talking to four different companies. Still, Synergy Labs was the best company due to their responsiveness. Moreover, they were very kind, so I chose them.

I've known someone from Synergy Labs for a long time. When I met him, he worked for another company but then decided to start his own company. However, I wasn't sure about choosing them. I had a couple of calls with them, and I saw that they had good professionals working there. Therefore, I decided to give them a try.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2013, and our engagement is ongoing. The development process took about five months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Synergy Labs has delivered a great app. Initially, I didn't know what the app should look like or some of the features it would need. Synergy Labs has suggested adding certain features, such as social media capabilities and group chats. My main was to have an app with a payment structure, but they've improved it with some of their ideas. Their designer is very good and has shown me what a good design looks like.

Ultimately, this app has helped me increase my sales by 50% and grow my customer base. Nowadays, users would rather have this kind of mobile app than sit in front of their computers, log into a website, and enter their credit card information over and over again. Overall, everything is working very smoothly, and my clients are happy.

How did Synergy Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

When we started, I told Synergy Labs about my expectations about the timeline and budget. We've never been out of this limit. Additionally, they always have a meeting with me when I have a problem. There was a time when I wanted to change something in the design, and they did it for me without any problems.

We always communicate through Slack, and if we need to have a meeting, we do it through Zoom or Google Meet. When contacting other companies, they usually told me they would call me back and never did, or if we had a meeting, they usually showed up late, which was irresponsible. However, Synergy Labs has never missed a single call with me. They're very responsible and put a lot of effort into my project, which makes me feel special.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I would like to give a shout-out to the owner. I've known him for a long time, and I've felt like a special customer for him. I'm really happy to work with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Synergy Labs' customer attention is impressive. I feel like they've put all of their company support into my project. They've also been very responsive whenever I've had issues or wanted changes. Moreover, I've been able to directly contact the designer or the head of the development team when needed.

When collaborating directly with one teammate from a service provider, it's hard to know what to expect from the rest of the team. However, Synergy Labs' entire team has been there to help me. They've even helped me understand my own needs. As mentioned, I didn't know what I wanted. Still, their team has shown me some examples, done some market research, and helped me define my customer persona and the scope of work.

Overall, I'm very thankful for Synergy Labs' help with my business, which is why I wanted to leave this review.

There's nothing Synergy Labs could improve on; everything is almost perfect for me. I really like how they respond to me, their English is very good, and they always reply quickly and communicate with respect.

Go for it because they're very responsive and responsible. They even help you with things like market research. When working with other companies, they first want you to clarify everything for them, so you'll need to create documentation and do your own market research.

However, Synergy Labs has done everything from scratch with and for me. I've checked everything they've done and understood what I actually need for my business. If you need to develop a professional app from scratch, work with them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Synergy Labs has provided us with design, mobile app development, and web development services. The team has built a complex mobile app for Android and iOS from scratch. The app includes many features, including location tracking and transaction handling. The app also acts like a marketplace, so Synergy Labs integrated a payment gateway into the system. The team has also built a web application for us. 

As for technologies, Synergy Labs has used Next.js for web app development and Flutter for cross-platform mobile app development. The team is also responsible for the UI/UX design of both apps. Currently, Synergy Labs provides maintenance for both platforms.

Thanks to Synergy Labs' work, we have more clients now and get positive feedback from them, saying we stand out among competitors because of the technology we have. Since we're scaling the app, we've seen bugs, which is a normal part of the process. Synergy Labs stays on top of any issue through their maintenance; their technical team resolves bugs very quickly.

Their project management is good, and they deliver on time and within budget. For communication, we use Slack and email.

The design head is amazing. He communicates well, knows what he's talking about, and excels at determining what needs to be done now and what features can and should wait.

We appreciate that Synergy Labs is open to us visiting them. Since the team is US-based, we have the chance to visit their office; this was one of our main criteria when choosing a vendor.

Nothing they need to improve comes to mind. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I recommend going to Synergy Labs' office in person and listening to their suggestions. Even though some of the features they've suggested aren't needed at the moment, their recommendations have been valuable. If they're advising something, it's for a reason.

I'm the founder of a residential real estate holding company with a portfolio in Florida. We mainly buy properties and rent them, but we also do fix-and-flip work.

What challenge were you trying to address with Synergy Labs?

We needed to build a comprehensive platform for our property management needs. We own a lot of properties, so we needed a property management system tailored to our needs. We used a different portfolio software before, but it didn't have as many customization capabilities as we needed, so we decided to have our own software built. Our goal was to use it for ourselves first and then market it to other property management companies.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We've hired Synergy Labs to build our software. This system has many components. The first one is a communication service. With it, we can reach out to our tenants and send them reminders via a mobile app, email, or SMS text. Communication is a very important part of this solution, so it also has capabilities for automated payment reminders.

The second main feature is for payment processing. Through our platform, we can collect rent payments through credit cards, ACH transfers, and electronic checks. Our system automatically calculates the fee, the tenant's location, and their method of payment.

Another component of this platform is its accounting capabilities. With it, we can do all the accounting work, almost as if we were using QuickBooks. It has a smart entry functionality where we can enter receipts and scanned invoices, and it automatically sends that information to our accountants.

In addition to those features, our system has a workspace management feature that we use to add our whole staff to the platform, allowing us to delegate some tasks. It serves as a project management tool within the system.

The features described are the main components of this app, but we've also implemented many integrations. For example, we have an integration with ButterflyMX, PetScreening, and other CRMs. Currently, we're adding more integrations.

As for the technology stack, we've used JavaScript. Initially, we used Node.js on the backend and React on the frontend. Then, we switched to Next.js to optimize the code. Now, we're also building a mobile app using Flutter.

Currently, we have about five engineers working on our project.

I had a personal relationship with the founder before signing a contract — we worked in the same office building. Moreover, the fact that they were a local boutique agency was a deciding factor. There are not a lot of boutique agencies in Florida.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Within the first four months of our engagement, we were able to launch the first MVP of our platform. Since then, we've been continuously updating it. Over time, this system has become the backbone of our company — we wouldn't be able to run our business without it. This tool has been extremely important for us, as we add more and more properties to our portfolio.

As for the quality of the system, there have been some hiccups here and there, and it has gone down a few times. However, six months into the engagement, Synergy Labs offered 24/7 coverage in case our system went down again, so we opted for that service. Overall, the quality of their work is amazing.

How did Synergy Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Synergy Labs is a boutique agency, and they live up to that word. Even the founder has been engaged, joined our calls, and given us individual attention. Their communication is very proactive. We've worked with other software development agencies in the past, and they usually were very technical and didn't use simple language. However, Synergy Labs is very proactive and very friendly.

Sometimes, we're behind them because we're not able to test everything they ask us to test on time whenever they need to release a new feature. Still, they always follow up very nicely. Overall, they provide really good customer service.

As for communication tools, we use Slack to manage all of our communication and have weekly calls. In fact, we recently started using Slack recently for internal project management as well. When needed, we use phone calls, but we mainly use Slack and email. We also meet in person with Synergy Labs sometimes because our offices are close.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It is impressive how Synergy Labs finds time for projects other than ours because we take a very big capacity from them. Their engineers seem to be working only on our project because we get a lot of attention.

What sets Synergy Labs apart from other companies is the fact that they're not too big or too small. They give us a lot of attention, and they don't have bureaucratic processes, which makes them very fast. At the same time, they've been in the business long enough to have experience.

Sometimes, small companies are new and inexperienced, so even when they offer great communication, they're not experienced enough. However, Synergy Labs is experienced yet small enough to give us personalized attention. They're the type of service providers we always try to hire.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At this point, Synergy Labs knows a lot about real estate. However, we initially had to teach them a lot about the industry and its intricacies. Ideally, it would have been great if they specialized in real estate, which is a selfish expectation. It would be amazing if they offered that niche focus, and they could even grow within the space. Still, I just hope they don't outgrow their personalized attention.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Engage with them initially in the discovery phase because they do an amazing job during that process. The team took about two weeks to create all the mock-ups and a detailed scope of work for us. Those two weeks were very intense, and we had multiple calls a day. However, going through that process prevented us from making a lot of mistakes in the future.
