We needed help to develop a scalable web-based ERP system. The project was quite specific and tailored for our company's market.

We've come a long way and have tried to develop it for five years. SapientPro is the fourth company we've hired, and they've helped us build our database. We've provided the team with a minimal brief, and they've developed an MVP from scratch.

Everything other companies had developed so far was unusable; however, SapientPro has boiled it down to the crucial parts and started from there. The team has combined their pragmatism with state-of-the-art software.

The discovery phase has lasted two weeks, and everyone knows what to do. SapientPro has also delivered a fancy design for the starting page. The backend has been developed using Laravel, and the frontend has used a pre-built React-based template from ThemeForest.

SapientPro also provides maintenance and hosting services. Although we launched the platform at the beginning of April, the team is making adjustments, and we're in the project's testing phase.

What challenge were you trying to address with SapientPro?

We do penetration testing, and when we test products, we typically find vulnerabilities and report them to the clients using PDFs; however, this process is very static and not very distributable. We had no developers in-house, so we needed help building a web app to improve that process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SapientPro has developed a custom web app and provided some design work. The team has used PHP to build an app that helps with vulnerability tracking and lifecycle management. With it, users can log in, see the last test results, and distribute the findings to people in our team to address and manage workflows.

The team has compiled technical specifications, updated them based on my comments, and agreed on the MVP, time scales, and development. The team is also responsible for maintaining the web app's code and any security purchases within our frameworks. Currently, we're in the final testing phases.

There are about eight people on the team, ranging from frontend designers to backend developers. I keep in touch with a project manager who distributes the work internally.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their work has met our expectations. There haven't been any real issues. I identify any change requests, feature requests, or bugs and report them, and they've resolved them quickly, typically within a day or a few days.

How did SapientPro perform from a project management standpoint?

They've performed pretty well in meeting deadlines and staying on budget. The project manager is responsible for assembling the estimates for additional work and distributing them internally. That's the person I usually deal with whenever something needs to happen.

The team internally uses Google Docs. For example, if I submit many requests, they'll log them into a table in Google Docs with who's responsible for fixing them, implementing them, estimating their cost, establishing timescales, and more. Then, they'll send the table to me for approval. They charge for anything that wasn't discussed initially and wasn't part of the initial specification. However, any bugs are fixed for free.

We've had three calls to discuss the project: one at the beginning, a catch-up halfway through development, and another catch-up towards the end. Most of the communication is over a Telegram group chat, which I prefer. We use it to communicate about the development process or features. Whenever someone has questions, they ask, and I reply as soon as possible.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I want to give kudos to Ion and Mykola; they are very helpful.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're generally quick to fix things and address bugs or implement features. However, I'm fairly busy and sometimes don't have time to review what they've done, taking a couple of weeks before I get to it. They're quite flexible in terms of fitting around our schedule.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's much to improve. There have been a few changes, but that wasn't down to them; we were not specifying everything. It isn't easy to write everything down accurately when envisioning a project. Much of it gets left vague, and it takes time to figure things out as it's being developed. There have been a couple of cases where we've had to build something to specification, and then we've decided to change it.

Initially, a defined inspection of the project must be conducted. If you know exactly what you want and the features you want, that will help. It will also reduce any additional costs on top of the initial estimation.

The new software, NetPanel.App, allows users to manage SimRush Branded MikroTik hardware via a remote web portal.  Easy application of Static Public IP Addressing over any network, Wireless network control, Vlan configuration and firewall control.  NetPanel manages multiple SimRush routers on a client site in singular coherant managed platform for internet access across multiple WAN services including 4G-LTE and 5G networks.

Sapient Pro had a great undersanding of the task at hand.  They took time to understand the challenge and made rapid progress once development started. Each module of software was tried and tested in easy steps.  Our requirement has been further defined throughout the devlopement and every challenge has been met with a collaborative approach that's made working with Sapient Pro very easy.

Weekly team meetings voia Google Meet and fast responces to issues via our devlopment WhatApp group has aided the devlopment.  Asana software has allowed each module to be viewed and updated for all to see.

The project is slightly over time, but that's not due to Sapient Pro, rather our own inhouse hardware devlopement and firmware has caused the delay.  Sapient Pro have been very efficient with time and are always looking to work on whatever they can as quickly as possible.

SapientPro is extremely reliable and unbelievably fast to respond. Whenever I need support from the team, they usually respond within five minutes. SapientPro is also available on the weekends. The team's availability and reliability are excellent. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

SapientPro can improve their internal QA process by conducting internal code reviews and technical testing before handing work over for business tests. It would be exceptionally good if the team invested in those areas. I also suggest the team extend its portfolio to get an additional grip on the German market, although I believe they're already recruiting German-speaking project leads. 

In general, it would benefit SapientPro to have technical leads who speak different languages so they can explore international markets and projects.

SapientPro’s project management is good, and we haven’t had any problems. The team keeps track of their tasks and provides an estimated time for each, and project management has been easy to manage. We use Agile methodology, and I’m very happy with their progress, reporting, and ability to provide feedback.

SapientPro’s communication is good, and we have weekly meetings where they show their progress and the components they’re working on. We also talk on a regular basis through email and chat, and SapientPro goes out of their way to help us. Despite our time zone difference, we’re happy to get up earlier to ensure we can communicate with them.

On the other side, active local organizations can upload their events and activities to the app so newcomers can participate.

Moreover, SapientPro has helped us create a solid team for continuous development. When we started working with SapientPro, we didn’t have an in-house development team.

SapientPro has developed an amazing product. The system’s uptime is almost 100%, and there are hardly any complaints from our users. They help us with the problems we face since we don’t have a large in-house development team, and SapientPro has really helped us in the best way possible. They've built an amazing product.

Moreover, SapientPro is flexible and responds to our needs. For instance, if we require more development resources in a specific month, we can ask SapientPro. On the contrary, we can also ask them to reduce the team according to our current needs.

SapientPro’s project management has been good. They’re available when we need them and respond quickly. We have weekly meetings with SapientPro’s project manager and collaborate through Jira. We also use Telegram for informal and quick communication. 

Moreover, we have a fixed monthly rate with SapientPro. They meet deadlines, although sometimes they take longer than expected. Our testing process has evolved, so we’re now more critical than we were a year ago.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with SapientPro’s development skills. They’ve developed our entire platform, and we didn’t have any in-house specialists to instruct them on how to build it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s room for improvement on both sides since we’re still a startup company. Moreover, SapientPro can improve their communication about deadlines. If we agree on a date, I’d like them to inform us if they are delayed. I know these things can happen, and I’d like to know upfront. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend agreeing with SapientPro upfront about project management and deciding how you will keep track of the project. Be close to their work and give them feedback, so there’s room for improvement.
