We needed updates to a custom-built quote and pricing calculator built in Java. There was little-to-no documentation in the original code and the original development team was not available to help explain the underpinnings of the code.

The team had to reverse engineer the software to get an understanding of how everything was put together, and then develop a roadmap to build out the new features and bugfixes we needed.

We had a kickoff meeting to cover the scope of the changes we were requesting and walk through how the software worked. The team took screenshots and video of the different functions of the software. Once they had a clear understanding of the project, we were given and estimate of effort needed and an expected timeline to complete the work. Once the project was started we met regularly to cover milestones, test the completed work, and give feedback for the next iteration of changes.

We had a project manager as our main point of contact, but also communicated directly with the developers doing the work during the sprint cycles.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching the latest version of changes, our sales team is thrilled about the speed of the new server, and new features. No more errors or 30+ second page load times!

We had regular communications via email with the entire team working on this project as well as weekly scrum meetings and regular demos where were could test for bugs and provide feedback.

The entire team has an outstanding knowledge of business processes and easily understood the challenges we were having. They took time to research the best solutions for specific needs and were able to present their solutions in a way that made it easy for us evaluate.

We're a brand consulting, design, and fulfillment organization, focusing on mid market clients, in support of their brand awareness, incentive, and promotional marketing campaigns.

We offer a variety of services, from sourcing and production management, to product storage, eCommerce and Company Store development, digital services, and creative design. I am one of the owners and drive business development.

We have ambitious goals that require significant development of our IP, to ensure efficiency that can support 100-300% YOY growth. These ambitions would be untenable without sufficient systems that allow our staff to accomplish more without overburdening the company with new labor costs.

We invested in a variety of API and multiphased development of our Salesforce system that allows us to automate a multitude of tasks, internally and between consultants and clients. Ongoing improvements are anticipated with Rolustech.

Rolustech demonstrated significant experience, following our search for a qualified candidate that could communicate proficiently, while still supporting project execution for our small business.

Following work with multiple partners, from top rated service providers to freelancers, Rolustech proved to be the best value for our ongoing development efforts.

Salesforce instance restrictions and ongoing subscription costs are not built to sustain our level of growth, and we required alternative software instruments that could more narrowly focus on specific business problems. These require significant critical thinking, in how to best execute the best path to a sollution.

My experience in a previous ADP rollout and managing some basic software automation, while also having a detailed understanding of our system requirements, allowed me to communicate this to Rolustech.

That discovery process is a collaborative effort with the Rolustech team, and usually requires multiple meetings to accomplish. They develop various elements in a sandbox environment, and in 1-3 week sprints, they demonstrate what was created.

After pushing the development to production, sometimes at the end of a phase, and other times at the end of a sprint, we test and provide immediate feedback for any bug fixes or critical data errors.

After that, we move on to the next sprint, or at the end of a phase deployment, prepare the timeline and scope of work for the next phase.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have been able to increase efficiencies by 30% across our organization, since working with Rolustech, as a measure of overall revenue growth against staff count.

While other efficiencies have been put in place, the development of Salesforce, and Rolustech's critical role in that development has been the most meaningful by far.

They do a great job, and while there are sometimes small delays in a deliverable, they are often as a result of a better understood objective, and thus an improved deliverable. No delays have been detrimental.

Rolustech provides offshore development services to help us build our solution. The software has a cloud version and a local install version; they helped with both. 

What is the team composition?

We work with 10 people right now, but the size varies. We have one primary point of contact, a couple of senior developers, a couple of junior ones, and a QA tech.

How did you come to work with Rolustech?

I’ve worked with some of their engineers in previous companies and knew they had a track record of delivering great products.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in January 2017 and is ongoing.

Rolustech has been a critical part of our development efforts. Our customers love our products, the experience we provide, and how they can work with us. That’s entirely due to Rolustech’s team helping us. 

How did Rolustech perform from a project management standpoint?

We use standard Atlassian products like Jira as well as Airtable. Because they’re an offshore shop, we needed to be more specific in procedures and documentation. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rolustech is up-to-date on cutting-edge technologies and best practices. They act like real business partners, adding value beyond simple offshoring.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything in particular.

As with any offshore company, just be clear in expectations and deliverables. You’ll get great service so long as you follow best practices.

We had to connect an on-prem hosted ERP-solution with a SaaS-CRM-Solution. - Namely, from inforERP to HubSpot. - Any transactional information from ERP had to be reflected in CRM. - And vice versa, Sales had to enabled to create Offerings to Customers with ERP-Article-Data right from withing CRM. - Any Article can be easily looked-up by utilizing a custom built extension in CRM. Underlying Data is bidirectionally synced between ERP and CRM - in a rock-solid way.

We hired Rolustech to create a highly customized CRM using the Community Edition of Sugar, which was license-free. Subsequently, we asked Rolustech migrate us to SuiteCRM.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We initially found Rolustech through Upwork in 2007. They had heavy experience with SugarCRM and its Community edition. They also had excellent feedback/reviews from their clients

We have worked closely with Rolustech for more than 15 years. We have always found them to be an exceptional provider. They handle themselves professionally and their development work has always been delivered on time. Each person that we have worked with there has had excellent English skills. We've had very few if any miscommunications over the years that I can recall.

Rolustech has kept us informed of progress on development on a daily basis through the Redmine app that we use. Their estimate of hours needed to accomplish a particular task is accurate. I was at first worried about the time difference between U.S. Central time and their local time. But that has not been an issue.

We've worked with approximately six members of the Rolustech team.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have had instances where we needed their help immediately, generally because of a serious user error. For example, we had a sales manager mistakenly delete 6,000+ records and Rolustech made it a priority to restore them for us, even after their normal working hours. Some years ago, we have had a U.S. company specializing in SugarCRM review the quality of our code.

They gave Rolustech high marks. They also remarked that they rarely had seen such a customized version of Sugar as ours. Because their employees seem to stay with them for many years (some have been with them since our inception), they know our account well. When an issue arises, they are able to fix it without creating other issues through unintended consequences.

Most of our communication was via a platform called Redmine. We used Zoom when we had a major project to plan.

Rolustech has demonstrated its commitment to professionalism time and time again. It's wonderful working with a partner who you can trust because of their high integrity.

I cannot think of an area where Rolustech could improve.
