Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO at Hua Zang Enlightenment Cultural Center Kft. We provide an enlightenment app in order to lead the people step by step to enlightenment.

For what projects/services did your company hire JDV Technologies?

We wanted to develop a new app to provide our own special enlightenment education to benefit people all over the world, however we knew nothing about IT. So we wanted a professional and affordable software company to help us.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted JDV to develop this customized app for us and publish it in both Google Play and Apple Store successfully, as well as set up a simple website for the app.

How did you select JDV Technologies?

1. Considering cost, we located in India.
2. I had a MBA classmate who was an Indian IT engineer. I asked help from him. He sent me a list in Bangalore in India which was very useful.
3. I looked through the list including about 300 Indian software companies. I picked up 7 the most active ones to reach out, because I could see the date of the company's previous clients' comments and rates.
4. I talked with 4 companies and got 3 quotations.
5. Finally regarding my requests, I thought JDV was the most time-saving and affordable one. Besides, I liked the salesman in JDV who was eager to get us as their client. Since I used to be a top saleswoman, I knew he was a very good salesman, because he really cared about each client, especially I thought we probably were a very small client to him and his company. I wanted a reliable one to cooperate with us for long time. Basically in my plan, I preferred a good software company in charge of all the IT stuff for us to our own IT employees.

Describe the project in detail.

When we started this project, firstly, I was very impressive that they sent me a detailed project schedule, so clear. In the first group meeting, there were FIVE IT engineers listening to me carefully together. I was shocked that to do this project well, so many engineers were involved.

I was very happy and confident for them. Then in the first half process, I always replied to their questions to let them know my idea and purpose clearly and specifically. And in the second half process, they always replied to my questions for publishing etc.

What was the team composition?

There were three major managers to be in contact with me all the time. I knew there were more IT engineers involved, but I didn't need to send emails to all of them. I liked this way.

To be honest, I couldn't distinguish their responsibility very well especially in the beginning. But I didn't have to, I just sent emails to the three, one would reply to me, very good! In the end, I knew one was responsible for sales and marketing, one for development, one was boss.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within 3 months, our app was finished the whole development and we were able to start testing! Very efficient! And for the test version, I gave it 80% satisfaction score.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had emails and a WhatsApp group. I tried my best to reply their questions soonest so that they could proceed efficiently. They usually replied to my emails within 12 hours. Whenever I wrote on WhatsApp for some urgent things, they replied to me quickly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive was

1. hard-working (always working till midnight and at weekends, because they replied to my emails at that time.)
2. patience (I am a normal girl, IT is an Alien world to me. They've given me enough explanations and instructions.)
3. efficiency (they finished the project over my expectation with good quality.)

Are there any areas for improvement?

I wanted a bit more meetings, because although I knew we were on the way, I just wanted to know where we were specifically, for example 25% done meeting, 50% done meeting, 75% done meeting. But I wasn't sure if it was necessary. Since meetings also take time.

SQL Mantra Tools provide SQL tools to troubleshoot and improve performance. I am one of the managing partners.

For what projects/services did your company hire JDV Technologies, and what were your goals?

To give SQL Mantra Tool a web presence and to have user friendly web based interface with analysis displayed as graphs.

SOLUTION

How did you select JDV Technologies and what were the deciding factors?

We have searched for a web development partner who can deliver quality product and services for a good price and we have shortlisted three of them. Interviewed each supplier and assessed their capability including reviewing sites they have already developed and JDV Technologies came top of the list and hence award the project to JDV Technologies.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We had an initial call discussing the full scope of the work needed. Based on this the requirements were split into three phases

• Phase 1: SQL Mantra Tools Website excluding Payment gateway, License & Invoice management development.
• Phase 2: Payment gateway, License and Invoice management & Product Installation Wizard development.
• Phase 3: Generic Customer Web App (web site) & Dashboard for SQL Mantra Product.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were three people worked from JDV Technologies. Two of them are developers and one of them is the project manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The project is still on flight. Once completed, we are hopeful it will increase the sale of the SQL Mantra Tool, widening the market for the product. Further, it will also give a nice easy to use GUI interface for the end-users as a result it will be more sellable.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We normally have a weekly call to discuss the progress and have screen share to collaborate as well as tools like Google Sheet to document issues and bugfixes.

Further, we are also using emails to communicate matters with screen prints, etc. Earlier in the project, we have established a hosted virtual server to host the website and this server was used as a common platform to share and stage the work.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Since we are also an IT firm we had people who are quite technical. On behalf of my company, I have worked with the JDV Technologies team, sharing some of the development work such as SQL backend development, and giving an architect direction for the project. The teamwork is quite impressive, and it was a pleasure working with the JDV Technologies team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A bit more realistic about the delivery timeframes. However, there could be other factors such as the current global COVID pandemic that could have played a role on this.

We’re running our own magazine and website, and we’ve been active for the past 33 years. I’m the activities director of the organization. We focus on investigative journalism, covering current affairs, politics, and more.

What challenge were you trying to address with JDV Technologies?

We were frequently facing technical issues with our website’s server, and we spent 3–4 months trying to solve those, but we couldn’t. We got in touch with JDV Technologies to help us fix this issue.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The issue was in our Redis cache system and Apache server. They continuously monitored it and were able to fix the issues. It’s been about two months, and we haven’t faced any more problems.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a business person and a technical person, whom I believe are the heads of the organization. They got in touch with me about the issue, and then they took it to their team.

It was a referral from a friend.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around 25,000 Indian rupees (approximately $330 USD) on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with JDV in May 2020. We gave them a one-month timeline, but they finished in about a week.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They only needed one call with us to understand the issue, after which they got to work and sorted it out. They were very dynamic and efficient.

How did JDV Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They completed the work ahead of schedule which was impressive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good in terms of communication and client approach. They were concerned more about the client and their issues than money. They did a really good job talking to us and understanding our issues. We’re planning to work with them more on our site.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so. We’ve worked with them on one issue, and we were completely satisfied.

I’m the co-founder and CTO of Brainsight.ai. We work in healthcare, making AI devices for diagnosis and prediction for brain-related disorders. We provide cloud-based solutions for diagnosis, as well as make applications.

We lacked in-house resources to develop AWS and APIs for infrastructure. We needed a team to help us do that.

JDV Technologies built an AWS system with APIs to connect that system to other components. Someone from their team also worked on infrastructure administration.

We had one main point of contact who managed the project. There was also an AWS architect and an API developer.

They were recommended by a LinkedIn contact of mine.

We spent 20,000 rupees (approximately $300).

The project lasted a month and a half, running from April – June 2020.

Their service was talented. They were approachable and willing to look into any questions about the project we had.

Communication between our teams was comfortable. We used Zoom, Skype, and email.

Their team had very talented developers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could help clients understand their side of things more. They showed us models at the beginning that had similar structures, so I would’ve liked the product to look more like those models in the end.
