Formula Race Parts is a dedicated niche parts supplier and retailer serving the highly specialized world of formula and sports car racing. The company delivers precision-engineered components to both B2C and B2B customers through a streamlined, e-commerce-driven retail experience.
As the founder and owner, I work alongside a dedicated team to keep the business running and parts flowing to racers to keep them at the head of the pack.

• Auto racing, specifically formula car racing, is very niche in terms of finding the right parts. The customer base is global and parts are manufactured most often in small batches by hundreds of different shops around the World.

With the help of JAX Media Team, we aim to bridge the gap for racers and manufacturers with our website; a place where hard to find and unique application parts are easily found, ordered, and shipped to customers around the World. JAX Media Team built our entire bespoke Word Press/ WooCommerce site for us. They provided a dedicated developer who was very responsive and custom curated the site to have the look and feel we wanted. 

What's the status of this engagement? Initial buildout of the website took approximately 3 months and included importation of an existing customer list and over 2,200 product listings. Website was launched at the end of August 2025 and JAX Media Team has done a great job following up on making sure the live site is running as expected. We are pleased to continue on with a monthly site maintenance contract to keep all up to date and allow for small enhancements. 

Main reason for updating the review is that the website was still under construction with a lot of work to still to be finished when the initial review was completed. A lot changed (for the positive) with our engagement and relationship with JAX Media Team as we closed in on go-live.

How did your relationship with your partner evolve?

It always takes time to go from an idea to a concrete product, and Jax Media Team did a great job going on the evolutionary journey with us. Being a small start-up, we don't have a marketing or web development team, so we had to rely almost entirely on JAX Media Team to get us to the finish line of a fully functional e-commerce site and they did a fantastic job.

In what ways can they improve?

Funny to say this, but perhaps do a better job outlining to the client what JAX Media Team needs from the client and provide timeline/ deadlines for them to help ensure there is no wasted time. Building a website needs input from both the client and designer, and a client that is unfamiliar with the process probably needs more direction and options explained than a company building a site that has a full-fledge marketing or IT team already in place.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

Progress isn't linear, there are slow times along with fast major leaps. Know that the developers are often working in the background researching solutions or doing work that just takes time.

We needed help with brand guidelines, logo, and e-commerce website development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Jax Media Team has helped us create a logo and brand guidelines. For the website, the team is transferring an existing Shift4Shop website to WordPress for more flexibility. The site will have around 2,200 products and will also be a resource site where we'll offer customers installation guides and helpful tips for the auto parts we sell.

Initially, we showed Jax Media Team our existing website so they could get an idea of what we wanted to transfer and build. Then, the team returned with a proposal and showed us other websites they had built in similar industries so we could get an idea of their capabilities.

Jax Media Team has also done design work, including ideas of how the site would flow and look. The team has put images where they think they go and has focused on the backend development.

The site's core feature is to show customers great descriptions and images of our products. We want to show them products in a way they've never seen before in the motorsports industry. We're looking to change the game, as well as take customers to a seamless checkout process.

We've integrated many payment methods to make it easy for customers to put items in their cart and pay via any payment method, including Shop Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and credit cards. We're using WordPress and WooCommerce for the development and Stripe for payment processing.

Our main objective is to grow, change, and add different pages, which is why we've opted for an open source solution like WordPress, versus other options in which you have to play in their box, use their processing technology, and be confined to that.

Jax Media Team is also responsible for maintenance, debugging, minor upgrades, and other changes.

What is the team composition?

We've primarily worked with two teammates from Jax Media Team: Patrick, one of Jax Media Team's co-founders, and John,  our lead developer.

How did you come to work with Jax Media Team?

We met Jax Media Team through mutual friends, asking for recommendations. We wanted someone close at hand so we could easily communicate with them. We showed them our existing website so they could get an idea of what we wanted to build.

We've invested around $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Jax Media Team in June 2025, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The capabilities of this new website are way bigger than our previous website's. Jax Media Team has designed and built the site's resources page, which has been a considerable upgrade, making it simple for customers to open a new window and download a PDF.

The team is also good at checking the backend, running debugging, and fixing broken links. We haven't had to oversee the debugging process because Jax Media Team proactively handles it.

How did Jax Media Team perform from a project management standpoint?

We're still on budget, but the project management isn't excellent. I'm a newbie in website development, so I was hoping Jax Media Team would manage the project more and take me through the development process. I've had to do much research to push them to get certain things done.

There have been times when we haven't heard from them for a few days, probably because they've run simultaneous projects, and we've had to ask them how things were. We haven't brought a lot of knowledge to the table either, so we understand.

We communicate via Zoom and phone calls and share documents through Google Drive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Jax Media Team is very receptive to changes. We can send them an email with a screenshot of something we want to change, and they excel at making the change on the fly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be good if Jax Media Team could run with a deadline and tell us when they'll finish each page so we can submit the wording we want for each page. The team could also help us curate the content a bit more, and the pages could come together more sequentially.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get to know the developer well. Jax Media Team's leadership works as a facilitator and doesn't do work in the background. Ensure you get to know who's doing the work and communicate with them.

We've had issues with the logo design project because we never had direct contact with the logo designer. It was always through leadership, and we were so far off the mark of what we wanted that we had to walk away.

I LOVE the suspense feature which allowed me to SEE the DRAFT in process and for us to exchange ideas and edits real-time. Every email was answered same day and they were very patient with me when other projects delayed my timeline. I will be using their services again for sure! Our whole team LOVES the final product and we have had a lot of increased traffic on our site.

100% effective. When people are quick to respond-listen carefully to your requests-then quickly implement those requests you finish quickly and can put that all behind you. That is TOTALLY Jax Media.

Honesty-Energy-Knowledge-Quick response time. Everything I need as a CEO. I do not have time to worry with all of this. Jax Media Team effectively handles everything; I can move on and focus on other things in my store thanks to them.
