The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Integrate Group UK is a UK-based client that engaged Genmar IT to improve and standardise how its users access company devices and Microsoft 365.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with SP?
One of the main challenges was moving the client away from shared and generic device access without disrupting users or risking existing locally stored data. The existing approach also presented security and accountability concerns, as shared access makes it more difficult to control and attribute access to company systems and information. We needed to assess the existing device profiles, introduce individual Microsoft 365 identities, and ensure each user could securely access the services and data they required. The project also needed to create a more consistent environment that would make ongoing user access, onboarding and offboarding easier to manage.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Integrate Group UK engaged Genmar IT to strengthen the security and management of user access across its Microsoft 365 environment and company devices.
A key objective was to move away from shared or generic device access and ensure each employee had their own individual work account. Shared accounts can make it difficult to determine who has accessed a device, application or company data, and can lead to passwords being shared between users.
We reviewed the existing Microsoft 365 user accounts, assessed current device profiles and data, and configured devices so users could securely sign in using their own individual credentials.
This provided the client with:
Improved security by removing reliance on shared credentials.
Greater accountability and traceability, with activity associated with individual user accounts.
Better access control, allowing permissions and access to be managed on a per-user basis.
Reduced risk when employees join or leave, as individual access can be granted or removed without affecting other users.
A more consistent Microsoft 365 environment, with each employee accessing services through their own company identity.
A stronger foundation for future security controls, including MFA, Conditional Access and device management where required.
The solution included:
Reviewing the Microsoft 365 user accounts already created and confirming the correct account requirements for each employee.
Configuring each required device so users could sign in using their own individual work account.
Removing reliance on shared or generic device access where applicable.
Checking existing local Windows profiles and locally stored data before making changes, helping to minimise the risk of disruption or data loss.
Testing each user's access to their device and required Microsoft 365 services following the changes.
Establishing clearer user accountability by linking device and Microsoft 365 access to individual identities.
Creating a more secure and manageable setup for future onboarding and offboarding, as access can be assigned or removed at an individual-user level.
Final deliverable:
A more secure and standardised environment where each employee has their own identity for accessing their assigned device and Microsoft 365 services, improving security, accountability and ongoing IT management.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project resulted in a more secure and manageable Microsoft 365 and device environment for Integrate Group UK. Users were moved away from shared or generic access and provided with their own individual work identities, improving accountability and giving the business greater control over user access. The new setup also simplifies future onboarding and offboarding, reduces the security risks associated with shared credentials, and provides a stronger foundation for additional Microsoft 365 security controls.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
The project was well managed, with everything delivered on time and the onboarding process straightforward from start to finish. The team took the time to understand our business and respond to our needs. They’ve been helpful and approachable throughout, making the whole process easy for us. We’ve been very pleased with both the initial onboarding and the ongoing support
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their personal approach really stood out. We felt listened to, and they showed a real interest in getting things right for our business. They were easy to speak to and made us feel comfortable asking questions, which helped build a good working relationship early on.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Genmar (UK) Ltd could have done differently?
Nothing comes to mind at this stage. Our experience with Genmar has been very positive, and we’ve been happy with how they’ve handled both the onboarding and our ongoing support
